The receptionist listened to what I wanted and referred me to Lara. It's as if all the stars aligned. Lara listened and had me send her my inspiration picture. Okay I decided to get a hair cut out of the blue and I wanted to try to find a new stylist that was closer to me. Drove by salon on the hill and so I phoned in for an appointment. The lady gave me Melody...her cut was $40 here why I didn't like it...I told her I wanted an EVEN length bob...which is not hard to cut and it's the same cut I've had for the last two years...Just easy to maintain. Anyway, she cut my hair and when she was done cutting she told me she made it jagged length (not layered). I was thinking wtf is jagged? and shouldnt she clear it up with me before she made it jagged? so I find out what jagged mean after I got home....it means the inner partial of my hair is longer than the outter part so now I look like a weirdo.... I have tons of thick jet black hair which needs to be cut in sections...This lady did not do that! she cut it all in one snip! Any stylist I've had my whole life at least spend an hour on my head...this lady spent 15 mins. So for sure I know there is something wrong...which I can understand why my hair is jagged now...UGH! the way she cut my hair was just inexperience and she told me she was cutting hair for a couple of years...whatever! I'm going to toni and guy next time! I would never come here again! read more

I would not go to stall 13. The lady was completely unorganized and did not do a good job on my hair. A man came in for his appointment one hour late, so she made me wait 45m for him to finish. Why? So unprofessional. It took four hours for her to cut and color my hair and people were coming and going the entire time in this small room. I paid $220 for something that did not even look right. When I got home, the color started so far from my actual hairline that it looks like I have 6m new growth already. I wear my hair back for work and this is 100% noticeable. My husband did say that he liked the cut, so I will give her one star for that. I have NEVER paid that much for a haircut, been treated so poorly, and had such a bad color job in my life. Tori is absolutely wonderful. She is a skilled stylist, and takes great care to make sure that I'm happy with the haircut. Never had a bad experience in over 7 years of seeing her. She added hair and scalp massage a year or so ago. Without a doubt the best part of my day when I see her. Magic hands. Recently Tori added foot massage and pedicure to her services offered. Horrible experience! Spent an hour being insulted by a stylist who told me I needed a different hair style because I look like a man. Explained I had it cut short recently due to a broken wrist that requires a simple style. She told me my cut was horrible probably because i tried to tell the previous stylist how to cut it. Repeatedly told me I was too hyper, that she is the expert, not me. Had wanted a perm but it was too short. She cut it shorter. Said she would not charge me for the cut but would take a tip. Also said she is now my stylist and would see me in 3 weeks. NOT A CHANCE! Wish I could give less than 1 star. Probably some good stylists there but I sure didn't get one. read more

Summary: One review of of one stylist does not represent all the stylist that rent space at Salon On the Hill. My new Stylist, Denise Bryan 682-554-0079 can testify!! Below is my experience as a new client to Salon of the Hill. If you look for online reviews of Salon On the Hill the majority will be bad, I can promise you because I almost didn't call after I read a few of them. ***Here is the most important detail the bad reviews did not explain***. Salon On the Hill is not a personally owned salon. It is a company that rents out spaces to stylist/barbers/manicurist/etc. This concept is not a new business strategy, it is quite common and growing even more so. The reason why I consider this a major detail and the reason the SALON gets 4 out of 5 stars is because one stylist does not represent all the other people renting space there. The booking system/staff do not clarify this and I fear that this flaw can really hurt the business of talented stylist like Denise. Otherwise, if you have a specific need or are trying to get a specific look you need to say it to the booking person. Otherwise you will be placed with whoever who has the time open for when you request. My experience as a walk-in: I came in with pics and an image in my mind. Denise quickly got her iPad out and found similar pics to what I was looking for and then proceeded to find pics of what my hair was actually going to look like with the cut I had chosen. Needless to say, Denise explained to me the best way a stylist has ever explained my hair. Why does it flip when I get certain looks? How can I stop the flipping? How do I get it to look the way I actually want??!?!? Denise patiently answered all my questions and not only did I leave with a cute new cut but I also learned a lot about not just styling hair but how to actually style MY hair. This is NOT a privately owned salon. Stylists rent out rooms, so the rating does not reflect individual stylists UNLESS they are mentioned. Lived in Fort Worth for 4 years after college and 1 year in Las Colinas, while working retail at North East Mall. This salon was super convenient and I got the recommendation to use Carina from one of my associates. Carina is the absolute best. I went to her all 5 years I lived back in Texas and hated leaving her once I was moving to New York. She is friendly, efficient, and versatile. She saw me through my short hair days, my dark hair days, my reddish days and all days in-between and she KILLED it every time. I can't attest to the quality of the other stylists at Salon on the Hill, but I can stay that if you schedule an appointment with Carina, you will NOT be disappointed. read more

If you need a hair cut, do NOT go to Debbie at this location unless you would like your hair utterly butchered. My daughter and I both have long hair down to mid-back, and needed 4-5 inches cut, layered, and thinned. It took her 35 minutes to cut BOTH our hair, whereas that's about the amount of time that should be spent on ONE person from a professional stylist who pays attention to detail. Not only did she just chop our hair straight across, she continually pushed back on how much I told her we needed cut. My daughter's hair didn't even get cut close to as short as it was supposed to be. Very unprofessional. Her "layering" consisted of taking scissors and raking them down the entire length of my hair, which felt like she was yanking the hair out of my scalp. I requested my hair style stay exactly the same, just shorter, but I left with a complete chop across that ended arm-pit length. There was no pinning hair up so she could properly reach the multiple layers, or spraying hair down with water so an even and level haircut could be had. For $28/person, you get what you pay for I guess. Extremely disappointed that someone who claims to have 50+ years of experience cutting hair has skills of a novice. I would probably trust the skills of the students at the Ogle School of Hair across the street before I go back to her. read more

I only used one stylist there. Susan Brown. I booked with her because she gave my friend a great trim, but she has beautiful hair no matter how she wears it anyways, I knew I was in trouble when I asked if she had any hairstyle books I could look at. She did not. So I tried to explain my haircut. Well, I have gotten better haircuts st the $10.95 places. And they don't look like mullets. As to her color experience: it was non-existent. I asked for highlights and they looked nothing like highlights. I was embarrassed for her but also angry she charged me $150 for a crappy haircut and crappy highlights.
