I love going to get my hair done at Salon Zurell. Nickie and Todd do exceptional work. I always get compliments after my visit. So much so that my man uses a name for me that is my alter ego when he comes home and sees my hair. We often have lots of laughs and share about our families. I feel very safe and cared for at the Salon. I have been a client for over 20 years. I could dye my own hair, but the trust I have with them keeps me going back. I started going to Brianna approximately 2 years ago. I've tried other salons and didn't get similar results. Brianna knows how to cut hair well and she texturizes your hair so it's easy for you to style once home. I've been happy with all my cuts I've gotten from her. She cuts fast and gets me the results I like. Brianna is really talented and she doesn't pretend to be your "best friend" in hopes of getting a nice tip. When I go in she cuts my hair and doesn't bore me by asking me questions simply because she's feels obligated to. I love that quality in a stylist! read more

I have been going to Salon Zurell since 2005. I am very picky, and prior to finding Salon Zurell, I was traveling to NJ to get my hair cut and highlighted at the salon where my sister worked. I always see Nikki and always have a good result. She gives good feedback on my style questions and is always honest about how a style or color will work. My hair is very thick and full, and Nikki was the first stylist to effectively minimize all my hair. If I lived closer and had more time/money, I'd be here for a blowout every week. read more

The irony of my previous review is that when I washed and blow-dried the next day, I actually liked the haircut that Nikki had fixed, and the color Brianna did looks great! While the customer service and the atmosphere in the salon weren't great, what I saw in the mirror the next day would have been enough for me to go back and give them a second chance. Wow what can I say. I came here today my first time after my friend recommended it to me. She used a groupon and loved how her hair came out so I bought the groupon and tried for myself. I was going from a botched golden brown color that another salon did to a dark Kim kardashian brown. I brought a pic and Todd the owner and Brianna my stylist worked together to create a gorgeous color for me. They also color matched my extensions I brought in with no questions asked for an extra $60. Both were very friendly, Todd even offered me use of the salons wi-fi as well as included me in conversations while he was chatting with his own clients. I thought that was really nice. Made me feel like I mattered. Brianna shampooed me really well. I had to comment on this bc I feel most salons don't take their time in this area just rush through it. She was very thorough and very conscious of where and what her hands were doing. When I was ready to leave Todd called me over and asked if he could do my eyebrows. I asked to pay him but he said on the house this once so I took him up on it and they looked great! He even gave me a few tips for them. I will for sure be going back. I've gone to too many places where the owners are stuck up snots who don't even acknowledge you after a certain point or where I've gotten horrible botched color jobs. I felt very confident leaving salon zurell and will recommend to everyone I know :) read more

Prices are reasonable and everyone was nice. I wasn't thrilled with my haircut- it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The girl told me not to worry, that when I wore it au natrel it would be fine... but it's not. Oh well. My color came out great, but they didn't seem to wash all the color out (my scalp was itchy in the back and when I went to scratch it, the color was under my nails- gross). I will go back one more time for color to see how it goes. If I am still not in love, I am not going back. read more

The salon is in the Clock Tower plaza in Plantsville. The owner, Todd, is the only person I trust with my hair. He is very talented especially when it comes to color. The other stylists are great as well. They also do waxing, facials and the new gel manicures. It's a very modern salon with the best sylists and products but they are very down-to-earth people...no snobs! They'll offer advice on products including make up. I just bought an amazing mineral foundation but there is NO PRESSURE to purchase their products. I look forward to my appointment every 5 weeks. read more

I purchased a deal at Groupon.com for full highlihgts and cut. I'm in the process of finding a new stylist and I decided to go with the deals on Groupon. I don't want to pay full price for services that I MAY NOT be happy with. This is the main reason I use those deals. I got burned few times too many, paying a lot of money for services that I wasn't happy with. This is why I started looking for deals online. Businessess that advertise on those social websites should realize, that many customers are doing the same thing I do, and the customers are the advertisement for thier business and of the work they do. For ages, the very important business tactics attracting customers was and still is: WORD OF MOUTH, VIVA VOCE - most business know that and they try to please their clients. After all, without customers - businesses will not exist. Enough of my business lecture and back to my review: My appointment was also with Todd (same as most reviewers here). He was nice when I was at the salon (I had a chance to read Todd's response to Dominika's review before it was deleted, and it makes me wonder what he was saying about me when I left the salon). Anyway, he corrected my haircut and I was happy with it, but when I got home, the highlihgts in daylight were not as light as I expected them to be. Also, I wasn't 100% happy with the amount of highlights he put on my hair. I think he just tried to save money, which is understandable, but if the business commits to deals on social websites, they should fulfill those commitments. Whenever in the past I did FULL highlights, my head felt heavy with foils and it took a lot of time for the stylist to put those on. This wasn't the case with Todd. He sparingly used foils on my head, trying to save money???? He maybe saved some money, but lost a customer and I wouldn't feel comfortable recomending him for highlight deals from groupon. Maybe someone else at the salon, but not Todd, but then again, if the owner of the business does it, he probably would tell his employees to do the same. I can give him only 2 stars, because even though I was happy with his haircut, he didn't deliver on highlights. This is my opinion of my very own experience at the salon. Others may have different opinions, but this is why we have those great online services that can provide us with individual experiences and reviews from different people, and it's up to the each individual person to decide which way to go. Business's job is to deliver the services at their best to please the paying customers - deals or not. read more
