Michelle Horton-Salon Ventures (Kettering location) I would give negative stars if I could. I purchased a Groupon for eyelash extensions. She was almost impossible to get a hold of to schedule the appointment. I called her many times over the course of several weeks before I finally reached her. Cut to the actual experience...I arrived at my appointment, had to wait an hour beyond my scheduled appointment time, her station was completely unsanitary, her hygiene was foul, and she glued crazy cheap extensions in messy clumps to my eyelids.There was black glue all over the lids and under my eyes, which she assured me was normal and would wash away. I had them done before by a legitimate professional, so I knew this wasn't right. I called Groupon, received a refund, and then drove to Columbus and spent $300 having them fixed by an expert. Jason Bernhard at Salon Ventures in Kettering is everything you could want in a hair stylist! Fun to talk to, made a great decision on my highlight color for my hair (I had no clue what I wanted), and did a great cut! The location is easy to get to (and right next to a chipotle), fun environment inside, friendly people helped me find his studio when I walked in, the whole thing was great! I'll definitely be going there as long as I'm in the Kettering/Beavercreek/Dayton area! read more

This review is for Michelle Horton at Salon Ventures in Kettering. Salon Ventures itself was very clean and customer friendly. The other stylists there that I spoke with were more than helpful and caring. I feel badly for having to give the Salon 1 star, but there is no way to give this particular ''professional'' her own rating, so unfortunately this is where the rating will have to go. My friend and I were looking to get eyelash extensions done when we found a Groupon deal from Michelle Horton from Salon Ventures. The deal seemed pretty good so we both bought our own and called the next day to make our appts. This was on Sep 3, 2013. My friend has still not recieved a call back from Michelle, despite her voicemail stating that she would return calls within 1 bus day. I called everyday for about a week when I finally recieved a text back from Michelle. Frankly, I was getting rather frustrated and worried that I would never get in contact so I was relieved when she finally did get in touch with me. My text message shows the date as Sept 10, 2013 as when she finally returned my calls. I was hoping to get an appt within a week or two at the most. However, Michelle said that she only worked about 3 days a week and she was booked. After a couple text messages back and forth, we finally set our appts for Oct 24th, at 6:30pm. That would make our appts nearly 2 months from when we bought our Groupon and from when we first tried to get in contact. We decided to be understanding about the situation because it is possible that the stylists who put up deals on Groupon can be flooded with customers. The day of our appt finally arrived. Believing that there was no reason to re-confirm, my friend and I made the 25+ minute drive to the Salon. After waiting until 6:45, my friend decided to give Michelle a call because she had still not arrived and her salon cubicle was closed. Michelle did not answer, so I decided to make the call next. Her phone rang twice and then went straight to voicemail as most cell phones do when you press the ''ignore'' button on an incoming call. Knowing this, I sent Michelle a text saying that my friend and I were waiting for our 6:30 appt and if Michelle was on her way. After about 10 minutes, I recieves a text back from Michelle: '' Hi I called three days ago to cancel your appt I ran out of glue recorder some, but it hasn't come in. Now im at the hospital with my daughter. I apologize for the miscommunication!'' I then messaged Michelle asking her if she had left a voicemail because I didnt receive a call OR a voicemail from her to which she replied: '' Yes I called five people in left voicemail all everyone phone!'' After being rather annoyed, I then asked when we could reschdule our appt. Michelle said that she would text us back when the glue for the eyelashes arrive. I pressed further for a time frame of around when that would be and the only thing she said was that the glue was supposed to be there already but still hadnt arrived. This was the last text message I recieved from her. She did not offer any day or time frame for when we would be able to come in. She also did not apologize more than once for cancelling our appt, despite my saying I never received a phone call, voicemail, or text from her. Again, my friend who also bought the Groupon has still not recieved a call to this day. After discussing with my friend what to do, we decided to get a refund. If Michelle had been more apologetic or had at least given us a more definitive timeframe of when we would be able to reschedule, we might have still tried to give it a go. However, taking into account the length of time it took to get in contact with her and also the nearly 2 months we waited for the appt itself, and also the unprofessional way Michelle decided to stand us up on our appt, my friend and I decided that it was not worth it. The problem with this situation is that there is no real person or management or ''boss'' to complain to. Salon Ventures is merely a building that rents out stalls for stylists. Each stylist manages and reports to only themselves. When this situation occured, my friend and I were left in a loop, waiting for about 45 minutes before giving up and going home. I did speak with some of the other stylists to ask about Michelle. I didnt want to jump the gun in hopes that Michelle was actually very professional and that this was just a random occurence and we just got unlucky. The other stylists however, told me that Michelle was fairly new to Salon Ventures and had only been there for a couple of months. Another stylist also mentioned that she did not understand how Michelle still had her stall because, according to her, Michelle ''never works''. I wasnt going to write a review until I noticed that Michelle had put her eyelash extension offer back up on Groupon. I dont want anyone else to have to go through this. I had a groupon for an all over color an cut with Libby Mastbaum. I had brown hair with blonde highlights and was going dark brownish/red. She gave me hot roots, and then cut my layers above my ears that made me appear to have a mullet. I left there in a rush because that was the worst color or cut i've ever had. I just got my hair done by Jen Robertson and I love it!!!! I just got an all over color (brown) with blonde highlights and got long layers with bangs. The color turned out better than expected. Extremely happy with the results! Definitely recommend her. read more

I have been wanting to get eyelash extensions for awhile now and when i found the groupon for Michelle Horton at Salon Ventures, I decided to give it a go. The service itself was fine but when i was finished, i felt like they werent very good but since i never had them before, i thought they were supposed to look like that. Michelle didnt give me any instructions on how to clean them or care other than saying not to get them wet for 36 hours. It is now 2 days later and they are falling out and look clumpy. I looked up other pictures and this is NOT how they are supposed to look. read more

Beware of Louis Morgan at the Kettering location. He butchered my 19 yr old daughters hair and his blonde dye job left 3 three inch roots un-dyed. When asked for a refund he blamed my daughter for his mistakes. Very unprofessional and unaccountable. Louis Morgan is using Groupon to get new customers. Believe me it's not worth the savings. It will cost another $120.00 to fix his hack job. My daughter came home in tears. read more

I had a groupon for a mani pedi so decided to gove it a try. It was a ZOO there, and my appointment started almost 1 hour after I made it. She had me take my own nail polish off because she was so behind. Every one of my cuticles were nicked, and they all has scabs within a week. The pedicure was a roll around tub that was filled with water while I waited. No nice chair to relax in. Will not go back-don't care how great the groupon is! read more
