Definitely not the best place to get keratin treatment. I was told that it will last for months and I paid almost $500 for it and it only lasted a WEEK. Such a scam. My hair is back to being frizzy, and I wasn't even expecting it to be straight but at least it should've gotten rid of the frizziness. The pricing is also unreasonable. I found a place that does it for $220 for the same length of hair, and lasted me longer. read more

If only there were zero stars.... I'm not even sure what to say. I've never had such an awkward and awful experience in my life. It took 45 mins to get to the salon (which was like 90 degrees inside), walking half a mile in the rain, with a groupon for full highlights. They started the appointment with asking what color of blond I wanted my highlights. This was confusing to me because it's a subjective question and at first I wasn't offered any pictures. Then I was shown a couple and picked one out. The woman who was assigned to me must have been new because she consulted with 3 other people. These other people were saying that I had to go darker or else my hair might fall out. WHAT?? I typically go in to any salon (haven't found one in DC that I'm in love with) and there's a less than 5 minute conversation and they get to work. I'm not a picky person, but my hair is naturally dark so I use highlights to make it lighter. They kept saying that they could charge me for the haircut (which I planned on getting) but wouldn't do the highlights. I told them on this Saturday that I had a meeting on Monday morning that I needed to look good for and that only a cut wouldn't be acceptable, so I got kicked out. Be careful that you don't come in with an inch worth of natural hair growth. They probably won't listen to you either. PS-got my hair done by a salon who wasn't crazy and as usual, my blond highlights are just fine. In response to the salon: I never complained about previous salons. I merely said that the last one turned out too brassy and that I would like it not so brassy. You showed me two photos and one was brown hair. I was not rude; I was so confused as to what was actually happening, perhaps you interpreted it as rude. You never offered me water after you told me that you refused to help me. I don't know why you think anyone would want to give you money after being treated like that. read more

I rarely use these rating emails, but I feel that this is important. I went in for a regular coloring session with Mickey today, and it was a harrowing experience. First, he tried to lighten my hair about 3 shades of blonde higher on already blonde hair, and I came out looking like a sick leopard with yellow blonde and platinum blonde coloring. Then he says, before I put the product in your hair, do you like the color? When I saw it, how could any colorist or stylist ask this question, knowing that I was looking ridiculous? Notwithstanding, he knew that I had graduation/hooding this Saturday. Now, I have been there for two full hours for this process. Only when I complained and said no, this is not it because my hair is purple did he suggest, let's go back to the golden blonde. Now, I am there even longer for a process that wouldn't have taken as long. (I couldn't believe, after being a customer for 14+ years, that the salon would feel comfortable with this type of service and work). There was an attempt to upcharge me for a double process while he was destroying my hair in the process. Then, the receptionist who saw all of this going on had the nerve to charge me the full amount, no discount for the service or lack of service, and the extended time to do the process with no respect for my time. At the time of paying the bill, I remembered it was the same amount as the first time, which was a double process given the amount of new growth, but this time, I felt abused as a long-term customer and deeply saddened that this was the treatment I received. I have never had a problem with service, yet as I was on the road home, I considered the lack of consideration I was provided, given he messed up my hair to charge me for a double process. Based on the other services I receive at Salon Roi, I thought that it would become my full-service salon. I will be finding another hair colorist who won't try to gaslight me on the services and then charge me full price for it. How dare you risk my special event because you want to upcharge as you prepare for a vacation? read more

It was Oct. 29 when I went for my usual cut and styling by Mikey. When I walked in the door, it was a party atmosphere. All the staff were in costumes for Halloween, and some were really amazing! Everyone was in a festive mood and it made the whole experience really fun. On top of that, the hair care was top-rate. Daiva gave me an amazing Deep Pore Cleansing facial! My face got a lot of TLC with steaming, massaging, and extractions. She checked in that I was okay with the pressure and any of the treatments that were done. The whitehead extractions were done with the needle so there was a little pinch, but it felt good to get rid of them! I liked that Daiva gave me some good skincare tips, like using toner and drinking more fluids, but she wasn't pushy about products. Yes, I ended up buying some things because everything felt amazing!! I don't get facials often but now I'm going to do it on the regular! I really like the easy going family-like vibe in this townhouse salon. Though I only descend every two months for a haircut with Fouziya, I feel as if I am greeted as an old friend. COVID cautions have been taken though they are now easing and I am told that no one has become ill. I am always pleased with thecut and the shampoo, in this time of no-touch, is quite heavenly. The initial balayage treatment I received was not what I was expecting so I emailed the salon and Evelyn was quick to make sure I was set up with someone who could help. My hair was having all sorts of issues before I came in today. Three-inch roots, orange tones, and dried blonde ends. I had ordered full-highlights from Groupon prior to coming in. The stylist highlighted my hair beautifully and gave me a flattering haircut as well. She was honest with me and told me what I should do with my hair next time in order to make the different colors flow together better and to help with my roots. I really appreciate the honesty; it helps me feel like I am getting the best service possible. She was also super kind! She made me feel comfortable. OMG what I've been looking for for years!! I've lived in DC for over 5yrs but I would drive out to VA for my hair. Dc salons are just soooo pricey. I have also had long brown hair. I normally just get trims and deep conditioning but I wanted to add some spice in my life and add some colors but GOD it's expensive! So I went on Gilt and Groupon etc. it takes a lot of research. I wasn't sure what I needed so before I bought a package I thought I'd stop by. I came in on a Thursday afternoon and was instantly greeted by a few people. I explained my situation and Michael took me by the hand to his chair and we talked. We discussed what I wanted and my options. He took the time to explain the pros and cons of going lighter and also assumed me he could give me what I want. He was even ready to take me later that day!! And they didn't treat me any different when I mentioned a Groupon (some places act like they are annoyed you are using a Groupon, like oh it's only for certain stylists) but not here! I came back the next day and again given a super warm greeting. When Michael mixed the colors, I was offered a mani WHILE I get my color for their nail tech. I felt like I was in a movie or in Beverly Hills! LoL ok jk jk but it was a really nice offer. I declined because I just got a gel mani earlier in the week. Michael again explained the whole process and talked me thru each step. (I think he could tell I was a little scared). Color, balayage, cut and style ALL in under 3 hrs!!! The color is a little more blonde than I wanted but I was soooo impressed!! The staff was sooo sweet, compliments from everyone as I paid and walked downstairs. It was a real confidence booster!
