On August 24, I received a "nift" gift card valued at $30 for salon services here. I have never been here before but was very excited to try a new salon, and hopeful that this may even become my home base salon - as I super need one in the DC area. That day, I called Salon Le Fini, and spoke with the front desk manager who told me that Victoria would be seeing me on Saturday Sept 1st at 10 am. I confirmed the date, location, time, etc and put the information in my phone. This past Saturday, I arrived at the salon, and was greeted warmly by the front desk manager - however, found it QUITE odd that the salon was open by no stylists were there yet (with multiple people already waiting). After 10:15ish, the front desk manager, sat down next to me and apologized. Stating that Victoria was on her way, that I would be seen as soon as she arrived, and that "it was her mistake as she only wrote down my appointment, but forget to put it in the actual calendar." Feeling a little dismayed, but knowing that we are all human and mistakes happen, I stated I understood and continued waiting. 10:30 rolled around, and I got another apology. 10:45, and yet another apology. 11 am rolled around, and i was feeling my patience wear thin. About 11:15, I had a stylist named Victoria come up to me and introduce herself. (She had already arrived and started on TWO other people, even though I was assured I would be seen first!!!!) Victoria's behavior was so rude and abrasive it is almost appalling. Victoria approached me, *told* me my appointment wasn't until 2 pm, that I was inconviencing her by arriving so early. (Mind you at this point I had already waited almost an hour and a half!) I politely stated, excuse me but my appointment was for 10 am. Victoria then brought me up to the computer system and processed to confirm my contact information - i verified that all of that contact information was correct. To which she stated, I should have received confirmation texts and emails. Note: Those were NEVER received (even in junk inboxes). I informed Victoria of that and she said that isn't her fault and I should know my appointment time. Trying to stay polite, I said, "ma'am, I do know my appointment time, I made it for 10 am, then wrote it down, and put it in my calendar on my phone; I wouldn't have made an appointment for 2 pm because I am NOT free at that time." Victoria proceeded to argue with me and tell me that it is not her fault if I got the time wrong or didn't get the reminders. I informed her that not receiving the reminders is not my fault either, and means they should probably verify their system is working, that i have now been told multiple stories by multiple people, so it appears they are LYING to cover their behinds about forgetting to put me into the system, and that it has now been almost two hours of my time completely wasted. I would NEVER recommend anyone to book services through this salon - unless you want to waste multiple hours of your day and not receive anything but lies, argument, rude/abrasive customer service, and no services. read more

I found my new go-to hair salon! Cherrell did thorough work coloring my hair exactly as I wanted it to look. I asked for a new style that was rather adventurous for me, but she did such a nice job that I felt comfortable with my decision walking out the door. The style is very posh, and I am enjoying lots of compliments on it! This was my first dry haircut, and I am very satisfied with the results. My ends definitely look healthier and more even. The salon environment is cute and comfortable. The salon is well-decorated, the staff provide drinks such as coffee with yummy creamer, and there is a private parking lot where you don't have to worry about getting ticketed in DC. read more

This is the WORST hair color and salon experience I've ever had! Save your money and go elsewhere! I went in just over a week ago and asked to have my roots colored my natural hair color. Victoria told me she couldn't do that and needed to dye all of my hair. We picked out the color that closest resembled my natural hair color, but she over-processed my lengths and so my hair is now fake-looking black and doesn't match my roots, which is the brown color we selected, except for the spot she missed in front. In addition, she got hair color all over my white leather purse that is now ruined. AND she charged me $180 for this disaster (which was only slightly more affordable with my $30 NIFT Certificate)! When I left, clearly not satisfied (but after more than 2 hrs at that salon, I had to go), Victoria offered for me to come back in for a free trim and to fix my roots where she missed. When I called today to come back in and see if she could lighten my color (because I HATE having black hair, especially this shade of black because it looks so unnatural), she rescinded her offer because I had been honest with NIFT about my experience. I got a nice cut from Salon Le Fini. However, the price was a scam... WATCH FOR HIDDEN FEES. Online, they list $75 for a cut. With a $30 coupon I was anticipating a $45 haircut. However, Salon Le Fini tried to charge me $140 (coupon inclusive -- so, $170 sans coupon). They said that they charge extra for a blow dry and for washing my hair, but did not let me know up front. (I've never been charged for a wash before, and I did not ask for a blow out -- the style I asked for was natural/curly). The hidden feeds are simply dishonest. They dropped the price to about $100, but I will not be going back. read more

Rude & attitude overshadows everything else I was recommended to Le Fini by Victoria by friend who warned me she has an eccentric personality (serious attitude/control issues) but is decent. I've been searching for a stylist that has expertise with Natural hair. Le Fini and Victoria isnt it and still will not be it if my hair was straight I thought I could deal with it BUT after my most recent appointment. I'm over Le Fini and its owner Victoria. During the course of my periodic appts ( 3 in total) at Le Fini, the owner Victoria was my primary stylist where she would have sarcastic, insulting comments peppered with a smile. It was challenging for her to "really" listen to what her clients wants. She always provided a recommendation with an insult smirk smile. It appears Victoria wasn't happy I arrived in my most recent apt with a Living Social. In short, she was rude and insulting stating I must have money problems because I purchased the deal and decided to use it during my visit. Actually I'm very savvy to pay $75 for a $200+ service In all my years of salon visits I never experienced someone as rude as Victoria. I really don't care how much wine, water and cheese and crackers you service. It appears Victoria and Le Fini are having money problems given you are upset with folks who arrive with Living Social deal. Victoria also burned my scalp while flat ironing and didn't cut my hair correctly. So now I must locate a professional hairstyle to correct her errors. Disclaimer: My review is strictly speaking for people with fine, straight hair. I first want to say that I loved this salon. I loved Victoria, I loved the staff, I loved drinking wine during my haircut. However, for someone with stick straight hair, it is very, very hard to get it right. Literally everything shows, any unevenness, any little mistake. When I was little, my mom would call salons (read: Famous Hair) and ensure there was someone there who knew how to cut our texture (read: no texture) of hair. I'm a little more careless with my hair, because I just don't care :) I usually go to Britany at Bang Salon on U, but I'm lazy about making appointments and she didn't have any slots open. I was looking forward to checking out something in the neighborhood, so I selected Le Fini based on the rave reviews. My haircut at Bang (which includes washing and blow drying) is $59. However, here, there was no wash. My hair was cut dry (and dirty--I felt bad for her actually because I had been saving a wash for my haircut). If there's one thing you don't wanna do with stick straight hair, it's cut it dry. Moral of the story, for a cut it was $75. I misheard and thought she said something much cheaper... but alas. All that is to say, once I got home and washed my hair, I did notice that one side was shorter than the other and there were some uneven layers. Again, I want to stress this part: my hair texture is very unique. It's not even the slightest bit curly. I can wash and air dry and it looks like I have run a straightener through my hair (you can see in my profile pic). So, if you have textured/curly hair--I would definitely go to this place. I originally tried to get into my regular hair salon Taylor and York but they couldn't take me last minute and recommended Le Fini. I am so happy they did. The service was top notch from beginning to end. Friendly staff, wine and cheese plate offered up right away. I wanted to do something a little crazy/different for a black tie event that night and my stylist (I think she was the owner) listened to my idea and made it come to life. Coming from New York, I struggled for years trying to find a good hair stylist in the DMV. I was recommended to Victoria by a coworker and ever since my first visit (2 years ago), I have been hooked. She and her staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. There are times I walk in during the week for a minor "tune up" and they help me out. Victoria knows her trade and there is no doubt about it. When I first came to her, my hair had a lot of damage. With my consistent appointments, she has brought my hair back to excellent health. She is able to answer all of my questions and provide me with any assistance I need in maintaining my hair. Victoria offers me natural products as I need them to keep up the health of my hair. EVERY product I get from her has worked wonders. The new salon atmosphere is also very welcoming. It is nicely kept (very clean and organized) and they provide snacks (crackers, cheese, water, wine etc.) throughout the service. The prices are reasonable and my hair styles always last 2-3 weeks. I am so grateful for my coworker recommending me to Victoria. She makes my life in the DMV so much easier. read more

I am so disappointed to write this review of Salon Le Fini. When I first started going there, it was nearly my dream salon -- Victoria was welcoming, she always offered me wine and a small cheese plate during my service, and I rarely (if ever) had to wait once I arrived. Also (and importantly) Victoria did good work. At first. Recently, however, things changed. While the wine and cheese were still on offer, the quality of the services went way, way down. For my last visit there, I booked a Brazilian Blowout. Everything was rushed and sloppy -- during my shampoo, she sprayed water all over my face and made no effort to wipe it off. (I know that this happens sometimes, but stylists typically try not to cover me in water, and they will dab at the splashes with a towel if a mistake happens.) While combing my hair, Victoria was SUPER rough -- I am NOT tenderheaded, but she was just ripping the brush through my hair. At one point she hit a knot and literally took a handful of hair in each hand and RIPPED the pieces apart. Clumps of my hair were all over the floor. While applying the blowout solution, she used barely any product. As a result, she not only burned my scalp with the heating tools, she also permanently damaged my curls. I'm no stranger to hair salons, and at this point I'm used to my styles not coming out exactly as desired at the end. But this rushed and rough treatment felt straight up disrespectful, as if she did not want me in her salon at all. It was so bad that before she could rinse out the blowout solution, I pretended that I had an emergency so that I could leave and she would stop touching/damaging my hair. (Don't worry -- I rinsed the product out immediately after I got home.) I don't know if Victoria was going through something in her personal life, but that visit (and the declining quality over my prior few visits) was enough to keep me from ever returning. If you care about your hair, think twice about going to this salon. The wine isn't worth it. read more

Eish! I am a volunteer in a developing country who is in town for a short while so thought I would come here to fix my hair. I had gotten a terrible haircut in Namibia and my fine, frizzy hair needed some love after a year baking in the Kalahari Desert. I bought the Brazilian Blowout LivingSocial voucher since I still had a credit left and the voucher itself seemed to indicate that this place was pretty happening. It also indicated Victoria would be doing my hair. Having no phone since I no longer live in America (for now!), I called to book an appointment on my friend's phone and was met with Victoria, who said she lived social workers after I explained what I wanted, my price range, and circumstances, (I am not a social worker), but that I would need to give her my number to later set an appointment. Helplessly, I gave her my friend's, not sure we'd be together or that I'd be able to get this return call due to my phone less situation. Hours later, using another friend's phone, I called back, finally set an appointment since NOW she was free to set one for me. We agreed 10:30 though later she said 11 as we were saying goodbye. I reminded her we agreed 10:30 and she agreed once again to the time. So, I show the next day at 10:26 and struggle to open the door, peering in, I see people, including hairstylists, staring at me, but none come to help . Having years of experience opening doors, I confess I am pretty good at it so don't judge when I say it took me a few tries to finally break through unaided. I go to sit down. Both stylists are with clients and I understand there is still a way to go in the process. I wait until 10:48 until someone comes to get me; Cherrell, an assistant stylist, who explains she'd be doing my cut and blowout. Confused, I ask why Victoria isn't. Well, she was with another client, right? We sit and discuss what needs to be done. The consultation, wash, and cut was friendly and very professionally done. No regrets there. Cherrell is good at cuts. But the blowout? My thin blonde hair is now burnt and fried. I keep trying to moisturize and oil the fried parts to disguise them with mild success. I walked out of the salon somewhat more confident, you see. After simply a day, it became apparent the damage she did to my hair; it appears she did not coat all the sections with the solution and moderate the heat for my hair texture. The next day I called Cherrell to discuss this; she denied burning my hair (but it had just been cut so?). Then she apologized and said she didn't intend to. She asked I e-mail a picture. I did and never heard back from her. Later that day, I got Victoria, who acknowledged Cherrell had talked to her, but she didn't see the photo. I said I was coming in and wanted them to _do something_ to fix it. She said I couldn't that day. I said fine, the next and told her I would come at 12, when they opened. And I did. When I came, Victoria claimed she told me to come at 1. She didn't; I said I would wait as they had a client at noon. No one offered refreshments to me this time until 40 minutes later after waiting. Instead of a customer, I became an obvious burden. And here I am still waiting, unsure of how much more of my already short hair must now be cut because of this. I had a wonderful experience at this neighborhood salon with Victoria, who is not only highly skilled in all things hair but also a joy to be around. My hair is not easy by any means- it's super thick and coarse, so I'm used to hair stylists who don't really know what to do with it and/or unhappy at the work involved. I am late writing this review, but I certainly could not let another day go by without sharing with others my experience with Salon Le Fini. I was introduced to the salon owner, Victoria, and asked her would she be willing to provide styling services to three teenage girls who were being honored at an event. These young ladies had all in some way experienced some traumatic life circumstances or had dealt with unspeakable hardship, and yet they still persevered as exceptional scholars at their schools and were committed to staying involved in their communities. Victoria, without hesitation, agreed to give these young ladies a full hairstyling makeover. I brought the girls to her salon and another stylist, Toni, warmly greeted them when we arrived and made them feel comfortable with her sincere hospitality. Victoria was amazing! She took the time to get to know each girl in her chair and when they were all done, she not only gave them new hairstyles, she gave them hope, confidence, encouragement, and genuine love. These young ladies were so excited to have a new look that they started taking selfies in the salon and posting their new hairstyles all over their social media. I know all of them truly enjoyed their evening, and they will forever cherish the memories that were crafted because of Victoria and Toni. Aside from the exceptional hairstyling talents Victoria and her staff provide, it is great to know that there a still caring and kind-hearted people in the world like those at Salon Le Fini. read more

I came here looking for a less expensive alternative to my regular salon. I will never, ever go back here. 1) When I called and asked if they could cut my hair dry, no washing, blowdrying, whatever, they said yes. They refused to tell me how much this would cost. Since "Designer Haircut" is listed on their website as $35, that's what I had in mind. I was told that the stylist would work we me before cutting so I'd know how much it would be. She didn't. Absolutely no warning in advance. My 25 minute haircut was $75. Which, by the way, is what I pay for a real DEVA cut from a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair. 2) This is the worst haircut I've had (excepting the time I cut it myself in college). I have curly hair, which is why I wanted it cut dry. I'd seen other reviews that said Cherrell was good with curly hair, so I decided to give it a go. The ENTIRE point of cutting curly hair while it's dry is so that you can see how the curls will lay. Instead, she spritzed my hair with water and BRUSHED OUT MY CURLS (curly girls, you will know how horrifying this is), and then gave me a cut like you would cut straight hair. I seriously could have gotten this haircut from Hair Cuttery for $10. Of course, it looked half decent with my hair wet and brushed out, but as soon as it dried and the curls were in it looked horrible. I'm just waiting for my regular salon to open so I can get them to hopefully fix it. 3) I didn't complain at the time. I was a bit shellshocked, so I just played it off, paid, tipped normally, and left. But please, do not make the same mistake! Do not go here if you have curly hair! read more

Cherrell has been my stylist for several years! I can honestly say that hair has never been healthier. So much so that some believe that I have 'added' hair. I don't think you have to sacrifice having healthy hair for stylishand cute styles. There is no such sacrifice with Cherrell, you get both. I also consider my 'high light' specialist. Frequently I am complimented on my hair color and highlights. Lastly, as a professional, I generally don't have time to wait in salons. Time is money. Cherrell has exhibited an commitment to stay true to scheduled appointment times. Goes without saying that I highly recommend Cherrell as your personal hair care professional! J read more

WATCH FOR THE HIDDEN FEES! Overall I had a good experience but it bothered me that I had to pay an extra $25 because I have "extra long hair" -- my hair is just above my chest. OK. See I don't mind paying the fee if I was told when I booked the appointment or if it was clearly stated either on the Living Social deal or the website. It wasn't specified anywhere! I was told just before she started applying the product. Surprise! And when I asked her at the end she said: "Well every one charges more for long hair" -- again I could understand that just be clear since the beginning not when I'm there and I got no other option. About the service: My hair came out looking gorgeous! Victoria truly knows how to apply the Brazilian treatment. Keep in mind that this is a lengthy process so expect to be there for at least 2.5 hours --It's worth it tho! The salon is nice, parking is easy and they treat you with tea, sparkling water or wine. Overall it was good - but please as a good business practice be upfront with the clients - don't just wait until they are there to tell them about these other fees. read more

I found this salon last year from a living social deal. I went in and got highlights for the first time since they were part of the deal and Victoria and the girls were SO helpful in assisting me choose a color and giving me tips as someone new to color. The color and cut were perfect, and I got so many compliments on the quality of the cut and style. I went back for a trim, that was equally as great and exactly what they promised for the price. I just returned for a "client appreciation special" (how many salons offering amazing deals for RETURNING customers?!). It definitely made me feel appreciated. I saw Victoria, as I always do, and it was again an amazing experience. EVERYONE is so kind and welcoming. They kept my wine glass full and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I gave it two stars because their customer service is great. For hair I would give it 0 stars. If you have short hair do NOT go to Victoria unless you want to look like someone who might have cut their own hair. The first time around my hair was longer, she did a good job. The next time she made my hair completely uneven, much longer on one side than the other. I looked like a retarded child. Worse of all when I went back to have it fixed, she failed to acknowledge that it was uneven. Then trimmed it without thinking it through, making it shorter and even more uneven. I waited to see if she would acknowledge that it looked bad, but she didn't. So eventually I walked out with hair much much shorter and barely even length, having paid an exorbitant amount for an unsophisticated cut that she took 10 minutes to do. For shame! This place was TERRIBLE! When I went to get my hair colored, they had me thinking the price was something different than what it was. I had no idea what shade of blonde I wanted to go and VICTORIA WAS NO HELP. She gave no suggestions or ideas and left it all up to me. She had a boujee attitude the entire time and colored my hair. It looked a hot mess. I then proceeded to ask for it to be blow dried and straightened. She said it would be an extra $75. FOR WHAT?! I paid almost $200 for my hair to look a hot mess that day. This was my third time getting a Brazilian blow out at Salon Le Fini. Victoria, Cherelle and Toni are very hospitable and welcoming ! They constantly offer you water , tea, coffee or wine and snacks! They provide a side table for you to place your snacks and devices and they bring it over to your salon chair and sofas. Parking on site is a major plus and you do not have to worry about tickets. The salon sends appointment reminders via text and email. They are very passionate about the work they do and use the best products. My hair looks great - similar to something out of a commercial. I came in for a $20 deep conditioning treatment and ended up being charged $110. The woman asked me if I wanted a trim while I was being shampooed and couldn't really hear, so by the time she started trimming it was too late and I figured I'd let her finish, plus that was only $30 and I was due for a trim anyways. What really bothered me was that I asked when I made my appointment if I should come with my hair washed and they specifically said no. They charged me $60 for "shampoo and blowout" even though I didn't get a blowout and left with my hair naturally curly and wet. The woman replied that there was no way to separate the shampoo and blowout which is completely ridiculous. This would have even been slightly more acceptable if she had at least told me beforehand, then I probably would have actually gotten the blowout. Extremely unhappy and disappointed in this place. I have been going to Victoria for over 10 years and she is awesome! She is professional and really respects your time. You don't have to worry about being in the salon all day. Victoria has expertise with a variety of hair textures. I have a lot of hair and it's extremely thick. She straightens it with a blow dryer and flat iron. My hair looks beautiful every time and it's so healthy. Victoria is really into maintaining healthly hair and uses amazing products in her salon. Le Fini is modern and has a cool vibe. I went here in December and had a living social deal for partial highlights a cut and blow dry. Cherrell does dry haircuts, which I was new too but overall the cut was quite good- although she didn't give me as many layers as I had asked for. The partial highlights came out exactly the color i asked for so that was great. The one thing that was quite sub par though was the blow dry. I specifically asked for a dry that provided some lift and bounce to my otherwise straight here but unfortunately cherrel wasn't able to provide that... Instead the dry was really just a quick finger dry of my hair without any styling. I get blow outs quite often and know that a good blow out makes my hair look nice and bouncy . Something cherrel wasn't able to achieve. Overall though the cut was ok. Color very good. Blow dry not good. The price was very good. Service excellent - they offer all kinds of teas and wine. Toni is the best! My daughter and I have been with Toni for 9 years. We've never had any complaints, that's why we've been with her so long! We've had trims, cuts and coloring. She's into hair care and assisting you on how to take better care of your hair! We've had women stop us on the street and ask who does our hair?
