When looking for a beauty parlor where hair solutions are needed, I am glad to have found Salon Iaomo. Medically induced alopecia is no fun and with what hair I have left requires delicate care. I met with Maureen one of their experts in the field and we discussed obtaining a hair topper to give me volume and coverage needed so that my thinning hair isn't as sensitive to normal cold weather. They sell both human hair and synthetics wigs, as well as toppers. Maureen was very compassionate and understanding. She helped me find a basic topper which can be color matched to my own hair and cut appropriately. I like the fact that the topper just clips to my hair and I can still care for my regular hair as I am accustomed to . With a Yelp check in you are entitled to 20% off any service which I will find helpful in the future. The salon has 3 private beauty rooms as well as a public area and another room for special treatments. The private rooms have a TV in them as well. I'm glad they have these rooms since when dealing with a delicate situation, I feel more comfortable. In the main waiting room you can get free popcorn, cold canned beverages, coffee, and water. Restrooms are located just outside the salon and you take a key if you need to go there. I liked the fact that the worked with me to find as close to the color match as my hair so that it will look natural. Learning how to care for a topper will take practice but I'm glad they helped me find one I would be happy with. Note-they do not accept checks for payment however, both cash and credit cards are acceptable. They do give you advance notice of your appts as missed appts will result in a cancellation fee. Expect to pay more here but on the flip side you are getting quality and a very knowledgable staff. Salon Iaomo is located on Greentree Rd next to the Greentree Inn. You have to enter however, by turning down Western Ave and then turn left into their parking lot. They are open Tue-Sat. I'm new to the area and was looking for a great hair salon close to home. Salon Iaomo showed up in my search results multiple times. After reading the reviews, I decided to give them a try. I just finished my first appointment and I'm really happy with my experience here. My stylist Cathy took the time to evaluate my hair and clearly communicate how much length she was taking off and the overall style of my hair. She double checked with me again later in the appointment to make sure I was satisfied with the length and that enough of the damaged hair was removed. She took her time with the cut and style and the appointment never felt rushed. We had great conversation and she left me with a beautiful style with waves that I loved! Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a salon. I requested medium blonde highlights (two tones, low light and highlight) and even had pictures of two hair styles to indicate the color range I wanted to stay within) with chunky layers and some angling to the front. The hair stylist, Maureen, first made comments that I had really long and thick hair and seemed a bit overwhelmed by this. Normally, my hair is cut to a base length to start prior to the application of highlights. This was not the case and she began applying dye to my full length hair (down to waist). However, that was not the strangest part. The highlights were applied over plastic wrap that was laid over my back. I even questioned this and said I have never had anyone give me highlights using plastic wrap, only foil packs. She stated they could be done either way and she preferred this approach. There was no separation of hair to create even highlights or any containment of the individual colors, and the hair stylist didn't complete front to back and instead applied large stripes to each side of my head at the part. By the time she had applied all of these layers of plastic, they had already begun to slide down, meaning that varying amounts of roots were not receiving color. Also, factor in that this plastic wrap was open at the bottom, so dye was all over my arms and some was on my clothes. Somehow there was a blob of dye on my face as well. When it was time to cut my hair, she didn't know how to approach it and had me stand up in order to cut it? To make matters worse, my appointment was in the afternoon and ran over past their normal closing time, so I was left alone with the stylist in a locked building. Therefore, there was no one to speak to about this when the job was completed. I honestly thought that this particular stylist just had a different niche and was out of her depth with this type of styling and I was locked in with her, so there is not much you can do in that situation. I didn't have any faith that she could fix this and didn't want her to make it worse. I called first thing this morning to address the issue and advise that I wanted a refund or would need them to fix my hair this morning, as I have an event at 2 pm today. Sadly, the owner of this salon is the person that did my hair!!! She flatly stated no refunds and said that the earliest they could fit me in was next week. I stated that this was unacceptable, as I cannot leave my hair like this. When i stated that if i had to pay someone else to fix their mistake i would be posting a negative review, they came back and said I can squeeze you in at 2:30. I repeated that I have an event at 2 pm and this must be fixed before that time. She said well I don't know what you want me to do here. I offered and that is what I have. I stated that they should move things around to fix their mistake. She was very defensive from the start and rude on the phone, stating that I asked for chunks of colors. I restated that I specifically asked for medium blonde highlights and chunky layers, which she told me I couldn't get unless I went with a short haircut, so my hair is only slightly layered on an angle. I stated that if they were unwilling to fix their mistake, that I would post this review here, in order to prevent anyone else from going through this experience. She then stated to someone else in the salon, "She is going to make it look bad on there". I replied that it does look bad, I dont have to do anything but take a picture and she then hung up on me. Needless to say, with an owner that does this quality of work and then behaves in this way, take your money elsewhere. Take a look at the photos to see for yourself. I had the worst experience ever at this salon with a stylist named Kathy. I went in with medium brown hair and caramel highlights. I simply wanted my roots done with the to match the medium brown. I left with bright red hair on the top of my head where she applied the color for my roots. The owner's tried to fix the mistake, but to no avail stating that "red" is very difficult to undo. I spent over 2 hours there and finally stormed out. I do not freak out about my hair, but this was a total freak out as I could not be out in public the way it was. They can always count on my haircut being long overdue when they see me because i have a bad habit of putting it off, as you can see in the before pictures. While their prices have gone up recently, their stylists are extremely well trained, they are generally very good with staying on time (a common problem for other salons I've been to) and I've never had a bad haircut there! But I have been getting my eyebrows done for over a year now by Lisa at Salon Iaomo and it was one of the best decisions of my life! Sorry to say I was totally disappointed in my cut. I know there was a lot to clean up since I had not had a haircut in a while but the cut was so uneven I have been wearing hats more than usual. The crown was very very short, the front a little longer and the back still a third length. The people could not be any nicer but nice is not enough when I am embarrassed to be out with the cut I was given. I went to IAOMO since I was given a gift certificate for a cut from Brian I found out he had left but the certificate was from my husband and I felt bad not to use it... silly me! Needless to say, after the consultation they put me at ease and said they would fix my hair. After over three hours I walked out with my head held high after walking in in tears. My experience here has not been good! I did a consult with Maureen then ordered and paid over $500 for hair extensions, grant you my hair is shorter. I showed up too my appointment and Maureen added these too my hair, they were 14 inches long. She had to of course cut them to a shorter length. Well she ended up cutting them way to short, especially on the sides of my hair, I looked like I have a mullet. I called an complained about cutting it too short and it was shorter than when I walked in. I wanted some type of refund due to all the money I paid. I had to go elsewhere and get someone to cut it properly. Maureen told me they don't give refunds, I'm in business and you accommodate the customer. She wanted to add more hair extensions, that's not what I want more extensions, she screwed up and cut way to much hair off, and if she would have given me some type of refund, liked I asked I would have respected that, I wasn't looking for a full refund, but she said NO repeatedly they don't give refunds. Any good business would give some sort of refund to help satisfy the customer, she didn't ! I'll never and would never recommend her. Her hair cutting skills weren't at all what I expected, she should know how to cut hair extensions and give a up to date hair cut! A MULLET! are you kidding me! Although they offer many services, tanning, extensions, they even have a wig room, I go for the basics, cut and color. Brian is the best but all of the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable about their craft. From my experience, the pricing is about average for this type of salon. Color and cut will run you 90$. This price has also stayed the same for several years. No recent price increases. Went in for a simple haircut. Kathy was my hairdresser. She did not do great.. asked for about 3 inches off, she cut off about 6-7 inches. Didn't put any sort of styling into it, didn't frame my face, barely put in the layers that I requested, and the left side is long than the right as she didn't even bother asking how I parted my hair. Tried it because it's on groupon & is a deva salon for curly hair. I asked for the split ends to be cut off, about 1" - 2" & she cut off 5"- 6"! They don't explain before purchase that there is a huge difference in price for a cut & a "deva cut". Stylist kept saying "if you were getting a deva cut I'd do this or that." I guess this explains her unpleasantness, not enough money coming in to be nice. If you like being talked down to, having 5-6 inches more than expected cut, & being treated like your curly hair is a rats nest (isn't this a curly hair "deva salon?"), then this place is for you. After having a horrible experience at another salon, Julie came to my rescue. I had gotten extensions a few months back, and the girl who installed them did a terrible job. They were falling out, and even after going back to the salon to have them fixed, I continued to have issues with them. After going back twice to have them fixed, the extensions were still coming out. I had so many come out in one area that it caused a large gap in my hair that could only be hidden by pulling my hair back. After having my third appointment to have them fixed cancelled at the last minute, I frantically searched for salons in the area that did tape-in extensions. I called Salon Iaimo, and they were able to squeeze me in that day. Julie did such a great job fixing my extensions. I went in with a groupon cut/partial highlight. Well I needed lowlights and (Katherine) said that was ok but needed to pay more money for a full lowlight treatment. No problem, I agreed and paid additional $$. When it was done, the color didn't look different. I mentioned it to her and she said that's because she used 'transparent' color. What? I couldn't really tell in their lighting so When I got home, I noticed she didn't use a darker color, but pretty sure she used toner instead just to take red tones out. Not cool! especially since she charged me more. Then on top of that, she butchered one side of my hair. I went back in for her to fix it and not only did she not remember me 1 week later but said she didn't cut it. Is she kidding me? She DID cut it and even if my hair was like that, wouldn't she have fixed it in the first place? So ridiculous. I was so upset but the owner fixed my hair with extensions to fill in the empty 'gap' and apologized. She was very nice and did a great job with the "repair". If anyone goes to this salon, I would recommend the owner because she was very poite, professional and knows what she's doing. However, I have to leave the rating low for the original stylist. I got my hair done here in March. The place seemed really nice and clean, and everyone was friendly. I can not remember who my hair dresser was, but instead of being in an open room with other clients getting their hair done, she had her own room. I had never had that, so I thought it was cool. She put the TV on for me, and offered me soft drinks outnof the mini frige. The room was very tiny, very very hot and very uncomfortable. I told her what I wanted to do (cut and color), and she kept telling me what she thought would look better. She showed me color samples and we came to an answer. I was doing a shade of a red(I thought)....and she was SO sloppy putting this dye on. I have never had such a careless hair dresser. I had dye on my forehead, alll behind and in my ears, on my neck, my clothes, my cheeks, everywhere. And it was orange, so I was panicking about how the color would turn out, because it was not the color I chose. And instead of wiping it off right away she left it there until after the cut and blowdry. She also added random ugly highlights and did NOT cut it how I wanted. Let's just say in the end, I looked worse than Ginger Spice. What made it worse was I was getting family pictures right after, with dye on my face and trashy hair. I was charged almost $200 for this disgrace. Although the hairdresser was bad, I would be willing to try again with a different one. They all seem very friendly, and they have a LOT of services that not many other salons around here have that I would love to try. read more

I was committed and had researched all I could about getting hair extensions. In my research I came across this salon and decided to visit with some questions I had. The lady seemed nice and she helped me out with my questions (while my mother was with me)! I called later that week to ask about the brand of extensions they buy from and the lady was obnoxious! She told me that she refused to tell me the brand and if I'm paying a grand for my hair ($850 for the extensions and a 20% tip of $170) I want to know what I'm getting! The lady was rude and I was a willing customer. I had a fantastic experience at Salon Iaomo. I was running a little late and they were very accommodating and understanding when I arrived. I was greeted by Patricia who was incredibly friendly and Katherine, my stylist came out immediately to get started. Katherine was AMAZING!!!!! She really knows her art. She talked me out getting the highlights that I wanted because they would be too light for my hair. She pulled out sample hair colors to show me what would happen to my hair as time progressed and I was very appreciative to that. After that moment, I left my hair in her very talented hands! She was very professional, friendly and quick. I have a lot of hair and it is long but she patiently worked through my hair making sure she balayaged the color in to look natural. When it came to washing my hair, Patricia did a fantastic job. Katherine quickly was able to give me the cut that I wanted without me having to say much or watch over her. After my blow dry, I was ecstatic about how my hair turned out!!! Needless to say that I will be going back in the future not only because of the great quality of work and amazing service, but also because of the great work the salon does with hair restoration!
