Gita made my son bleed during his haircut in several places and showed no compassion or remorse, just silence then blamed his skin. That in of itself is very insensitive and rude. Also, she cut patches of his head bald. I told her that we've never had anyone make him bleed like that. She can NOT do a fade haircut so we were misled by her. Just go to a barber and save yourself the ordeal. read more

Gita is nice and does an ok job. I don't think the quality of the color is great, and she isn't the most dynamic or detail oriented stylist I've ever had. For the Kentlands (including Kentlands prices) the salon is very dated, falling apart, and dirty. Gita doesn't clean her hair implements between clients, (scissors covered in other peoples hair more than once) the furniture is falling apart, the cheap plastic drawer sets are falling over, the chairs are stained, bugs are often flying around, hair on most surfaces. Like I said the styling is meh. I just wanted to provide an honest review since no one really mentioned any of the issues I saw. I will say G is timely, kind, and otherwise generally professional. Going to this place was a total mistake, if I could give it zero stars, I would. I asked for a light balayage, but Gita gave me bad 90s chunky highlights and a $200 invoice. When she sloppily rushed putting the highlights in my hair, i knew something felt very off. Went back a day later explaining my frustration and she wanted to fix it in 30 mins, but i instead spent the next two hours of my night getting it fixed by a neighboring hair salon. Salon G is named after the owner "Gita." This is her second location - she relocated minutes away for a smaller and more intimate salon. I've been here twice - once in the summer and the second most recently. I would recommend Gita. She is incredibly sweet and REALLY knows hair. More than any stylist I've been to - and I've been to many. I started seeing Gita because I heard great things about her. A co-worker of mine loves her and so does her husband. I feel like Gita is one of those people who you find and won't leave. You know how you go to a salon and it's super busy and you have five different people working on your hair and you barely see the person you're suppose to see? Gita washed my hair, cut my hair, AND blew dry my hair. Full service from one person. This week, I was ready to chop some of my hair off and add layers because I felt like my full hair was really adding some weight to my hair - rarely do I get layers... but today I was feeling confident that she'd make me pretty. In the meantime of my haircut, she insisted on giving me a free protein treatment for my scalp since the winter air is harsh on our skin. She complimented my eyebrows and asked me who did them - ME! I told her. But I haven't had time to shape them up in a while and she said, "Don't worry... I'll do that... on the house." ARE YOU SERIOUS? Finally, she blow dried my hair and made me look amazing! I felt like I had supermodel hair! In fact, when I left I got so many compliments from females asking me who cut my hair. And several guys whistled and "hollered" at me - it had to be the haircut. :) Shh, don't tell my boyfriend. I paid $75 without tip - the haircut plus the $15 protein shampoo treatment bottle I wanted to buy for home (the protein treatment and eyebrow waxing she did for me was free). I had more expensive haircuts than this; plus how often do you really cut your hair? For me, $50 for a cut from the owner was a steal. *I have to add that on Tuesday's Gita is the only stylist working that day. I would suggest making an appointment that day because you are one-on-one with her. Tell her what's bothering you and what you want. She'll work her magic. read more

The salon needs to have a way of updating prices for the services they offer, especially when they seem to change way too frequently. It is also unethical not to let the customer know that the prices are so much higher than was paid the last time, which was not long ago. If I am going back in a matter for 45/60 days for the same services, how is it that the price has gone up each time. I don't like such surprises. Gita had no room in her schedule for the time I asked for but luckily I was so close to her salon at the time and she offered to squeeze me into her schedule if I could get to the salon in 10 minutes. So I went! The place was buzzing! You can tell that everyone really liked being there. Both customers and the people that worked there. Gita was very welcoming as if I had gone there forever (it was only my first time). I thought that maybe because she squeezed me in, she wouldn't spend too much time on my brows, but she diligently worked on them and took her time which was nice. Recently relocated to DMV area from SoCal and needed to find a new 'home' salon. Gita, owner of Salon 'G' came highly recommended and I called for a weekend appointment mid-week. She was able to give me Saturday morning appointment for full hair color with highlights and a cut! I was amazed to get in so quickly. Also, I was in and out in two hours-this is unheard of for me! I came in and talked to the person at the front desk and they set me up in less then 10 minutes. I told them how I wanted to do my hair and I was amazed. I was out of there before I knew it. As a disclaimer, this is the first yelp review I have ever written (I'm writing under my boyfriend's account who is active on this site, but I am not particularly tech savvy). I recently got my hair cut and colored at salon G and had an amazing experience which I felt like I should share. I have dark brown, curly hair and wanted a change that was subtle but flattered my face shape and natural features. For anyone with thick, curly hair, you probably have trust issues. I don't normally "trust" hairdressers to give me good advice, so I've shied away from anything that I would deem drastic (highlights, color, really anything that wasn't "long layers" and my natural color). Salon G helped me venture outside of my normally conservative comfort zone and I am so glad for it! With Gita's great advice, I decided to go for reddish highlights and some nicely placed layers with side bangs of which I received comments all week. I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be going back :) read more
