Evan is a gift to all blondes!! He spends time creating small highlights throughout making the overall look completely natural. I continue to get compliments on my hair and couldn't be happier. He is also a genius when it comes to eyebrows. As someone who has a dirty blonde base with intensely dark (Italian) eyebrows he has managed to lighten them to a soft brown that compliment my hair perfectly. I guarantee if you book with Evan you will leave a very happy client. If you can't get in with him, Laura is an amazing colorist for blondes. James is also the best stylist, his cuts are perfection for men and women (my fiancé is a regular client of his now). This salon is basically what you wish for. Hmmmm...no "good vibes" here! Called to make an appointment and the receptionist named "Laura" received my call all balled up and extremely aggressive and snappy making sure I knew there was a charge for missed appointments and I did not even book yet. She was obviously very high-strung, snappy, pushy, overtly overbearing and when I asked a question regarding the consultation, she shouted....."oh no...."and cut me off. After attempt to shut down my question, in a loud, aggressive abrupt manner she then took it upon herself to rudely shout....."you know what.....your not a good fit..." and then straight up hung up slamming the phone down. Laura, do your owners know that you are arbitrarily ruining their business for them by unilaterally picking and choosing who comes In? I didn't realize this was your salon? How many other patrons do you do this to? You are a true liability and not as asset to this salon. Maybe McDonald's is more your speed. read more

***In response to the owners comment- I would never go to a salon for the sole purpose of asking a colorist to fix my color and give me the formula. I don't appreciate you posting a half truth to try to make me sound unreasonable, but being that you were eavesdropping it was probably hard for you to hear the whole consultation. To clarify, I wanted to find someone to fix my base color and do my highlights. Once the base color was corrected I wanted to do that at home and continue going to the salon for highlights which is a perfectly reasonable request. I explained to the colorist that I have a small baby and I do my base color late at night when he is sleeping. I also told her it wasn't feasible for me to spend 2-3 hours every 2 weeks at a salon to do my base on top of the 4+ hours it takes to do my highlights because I have no one to watch my baby. If she had a problem with that then she should have simply told me during the consult instead of acting weird and disappearing. Also, I never said how much I previously paid to get my color done. Either way I'm not sure what difference that makes and that has no bearing on the fact that I had to ask for pricing three times. Original Review: It seems that all the glowing reviews are from long time clients who have a long term relationship with their stylist and a different perception than someone coming in as a new client. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't so good. The lady at the reception desk was very nice over the phone as well as in person but she was the only nice and friendly person I encountered when I went in for a consult. I asked for pricing prior to going but she said I needed to discuss with the stylist as each one has different pricing and it depends on my hair. Fair enough, I made a consult appointment. Their slogan is good vibes but based on my experience it was more awkward/weird vibes than anything else.I had a consult with Laura and she comes to the reception and asks me what she can need help with. I tell her I want to change my hair color and go over what I don't like about my color and she continues to stand at the front desk and says ok what is the issue? I had to request to show her in a mirror for her to finally take me to her chair and actually look at my hair which seemed very odd to me. As for the consult, I had to pull information out of her and she asked me no questions to better understand what I wanted. She also gave me no information about her experience. At the end I asked her what the pricing would be for what I wanted and she says nothing and abruptly walks to the front reception desk. I never saw her again and she didn't even say bye. Very abrupt and odd. Next thing I know another lady pops up and gives me a second consult. I wrap it up and ask the receptionist for pricing as neither stylist gave me pricing and she tells me it is range and depends. I have to continue to press for her to go ask each one and come back and tell me a price. Not sure why it was so difficult and awkward to get pricing. It was very expensive so maybe that is why. Pricing is one of the most important points of a consult aside from feeling comfortable and connecting with a new stylist which didn't happen either. Parking is an issue as they are in the center of midtown where there are hardly any metered parking spots Other than the lady at the reception, not a single person working there smiled or was warm/welcoming. The salon was very quiet and serious. Maybe long time clients are treated differently but as a potential new client the general atmosphere and staff demeanor was very off-putting and I would not return based on my first experience. read more

I rarely write yelp reviews but I felt the need to write about this place because I was very impressed by the service and expertise here. I had my hair colored and highlighted by Laura and then trimmed by James. I thought Laura did an amazing job on mixing her colors to essentially the same shade as my natural hair coloring (sans those white hairs that have popped up in the last year--the stresses of modern living). I appreciated that she matched my hair color that combined with the highlights looked like the best version of my hair over several decades of life. This was the first time I had my hair colored so I was incredibly relieved that it still looked like my hair when she finished, but it just so happened to look like a much better version of it. I think she picked up on my desires of subtle change with enhancements. Kind of like when you take pictures but get to have a few wrinkles, love handles and gray hairs photoshopped out. James then cut my hair to my specifications (stylish, low maintenance, asthetically pleasing). Looked amazing after he blow dried it. We both knew that I probably wasn't going to blow dry it again until the next time I come to a salon so he gave me some tips on how to give it body without actually doing any work. They're also both very warm, kind and interesting but you have to come sit in their salon chairs and get your hair done if you would like to learn more about them as individuals or learn their tips on coloring, maintenance and body enhancement for people that pretty much just wear ponytails. Also, if you like places with attentive service and wine menus, they do that as well at Salon Ethos. I just wanted water but the service was excellent and the staff and other stylists were helpful with a positive energy (I don't usually say that about places but seems fitting). If you're looking for a $2 hair cut than this is not the place for you, I actually used to get $2 haircuts from my dad's barber so I'm not saying that from a place of judgement. But if you're looking to try something different or value expertise of artists who happen to work through the medium of hair then you should check out Salon Ethos! read more

I have been going to Brian for over 15 years and all I can say is he is a magician with color. Highlights and lowlights and extensions! He is THE only one I trust with my hair and my sons hair, which is long and he shapes it perfectly. I am currently struggling with blood cancer and have lost a lot of hair. Bryan not only takes care of the hair I still have but he genuinely cares about keeping the new growth healthy and undamaged. His use of extensions have made me feel less self coand I have had a plethora of compliments on them. They look so natural and I feel so much better when I leave his chair. He and Evan have built a beautiful salon and everyone that works there is friendly and more than accommodating. My friend even drives from Orlando to see him.
