Salon Essence isn't much to look at. On the second floor of a building, it's hard to find and located in essentially renovated office space. Don't let looks dissuade you though.
Word of mouth is how I heard about this place and I'm pretty glad I did. As far as I was concerned, I could only get a good haircut in Taiwan, then NYC, and then maybe some Vietnamese place (hit or miss). I can now say I'd be comfortable in making this place my go to. It seems many Asians frequent Salon Essence. They have Japanese straightening and some new-fangled machine called Perfect Fusion. Whatever that is, people seem to love it.
All I need is a haircut though, and unlike the people in Taiwan, this hair dresser actually listens to me when I tell her not to layer too much. For under $30 (a steal compared to NYC), I'm out the door.
Business card states that they offer perms, straightener, facials, waxing, and color too.
Good luck to all you people trying to find a good hair dresser! I hope this serves you well. read more
