I'm so disheartened because I was hoping I'd be leaving a good review.. I called last Thursday to…read moreschedule an appointment for Saturday & everything was fine. I called Saturday morning to confirm my appointment but Amy at the front desk let me know I was not on the schedule even though I just scheduled two days prior.. they were able to fit me in 45 min after said appointment time anyways so I didn't get upset. Once arriving I was told I'd have to wait an additional 30 min which was confusing but I had time in the day to wait (ended up being almost 45 min of a wait) The service I wanted, I got talked out of by Tina the hairdresser but I trusted her word since she is the professional. I ended up getting a "curly cut" instead. My experience with her actually was good, customer service wise. It's not uncommon to leave a salon with damp or wet hair to air dry for curly hair (your preference) so while wet I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary plus the employees boasted about how good my hair turned out!! I get home and at this point my hair is lightly damp, my husband looks at my hair from outside the window & is SHOCKED. He couldn't believe the way my hair turned out & told me to look at it. I look at it in my phone camera and the "layers" Tina put in were chunks. I show a friend who is a hair dresser & she was appalled by how horrible the hair does not blend. I also asked for no length taken off and my overall length is shorter. I called to let Amy know I was not satisfied and what are my options. She lets me know she will talk to the owner about coming in to get it fixed. I told her I'm not sure I want to because since my left side is so short, I would have to go even shorter on my right side just to match it which was not the goal from the beginning. My original service had nothing to do with a haircut, I just trusted Tina's professional opinion to save my curls from having a baby 7 months prior. Amy lets me know she will discuss a refund from the owner Monday when she is back in the salon. George sends me an email Monday late afternoon but I didn't get to it until yesterday because of work. When I call, I'm told if I don't come in to get it fixed (which I already discussed why I declined that option) that I could come in M/W/F when the owner is in to see if my hair is worth a refund (Forgot to mention I was asked to send pictures and/or videos of my hair Saturday when I originally called & did so). I let George who was extremely kind & understanding know that I'm a full time working Mom & with my husband & babysitters' schedules, I can only come in on Saturdays. The owner from my understanding through communication would not work with me & refused to refund this service. I'm at a loss & will not be getting a refund unfortunately. It's also unfortunate that the owner Terri/Terry (unsure how her name is correctly spelled) cares more about money rather than a returning customer who just wanted to feel good in her skin after just having a baby not too long ago. I have plenty of friends who are business owners in the beauty industry that agree that this was a poor way to handle this situation. I can understand if I spent hundreds of dollars and took up hours of time that someone else could have been serviced, but I paid under $60 and it took about an hour - hour and 15 min in the chair total. Other than the dissatisfaction of the hair cut, this review is mainly to point out how this business can better handle a situation like this in the future.

I called Serenity on a Monday to inquire about getting hair and makeup done for my October wedding. I was told that it would be $25-$35 for a bridal up-do for myself and my bridesmaids, and $20 for makeup. I was also told that the consultation AND trial run was free. I was sure to verify THREE TIMES that the trial run was free, not just the consultation. I made an appointment that day to do my trial run for my hair and makeup. Today, I arrived in the shop, was taken back, and told that my trial run would be $35, and they would only have 35 minutes to do the hair AND makeup since I was "late." (I was 5 minutes late and waited 5 minutes for the girl to take me back). I told the girl that I was told on multiple occasions that the trial run was supposed to be free. She talked to her manager, and came back saying "sorry, that was my manager's daughter that told you that. But she was wrong, it's $35 and we can't let you do it for free because we use our supplies and our bobby pins." So even though I was told by the manager's daughter that it was free, they refused to honor that. Then, the girl that was going to do my hair told me that a wedding up-do starts at $40, not $25 like I was told. At that point, I had enough and walked out without anything being done to my hair. All in all, the receptionist/manager was extremely rude, I was given incorrect information, no one was willing to rectify the problem, and I felt service was terrible.

Phone numbers for those who do not take online reservations are available on the overall salon website as well. It was unclear if any of the specialist take walkins. The stylist I visited was Ashley A. Smith. Ashley specializes in a number of services. She offers hair cuts, coloring, styling, perms, waxing and manicures. Hair services are available for men, women and children. My appointment included full highlights, shampoo, cut and style. It had been years since I had had anything more than a trim done to my hair. I knew it was time to get my hair done. Other than highlights and a cut, I wasn't 100% sure on the color or style. Ashley asked questions, explained the color options, and made suggestions. Her explanations of color, as it pertains to my hair, made a lot of sense. It was information that had previously never been explained to me. Ashley's knowledge and expertise equaled a result I am happy with. I feel like she really listened to my input. It should also be noted that conversation flowed pretty easily during my visit. Even while the highlights were setting, Ashley stayed and chatted with me.

I had another more experienced stylist for the straightening. It was confusing from the get go. They were talking about not having the instructions for the product they were gonna use. Anyway I have never been in such an awful situation at any salon. The stylist insisted that she had the right product. I knew it was not what was used. To make a long story short. When the stylist went to dry my hair , I was turned around so I was unable to see the back. Here I spent 90.00 including tip to get home and after waiting 3 days I washed my hair and it has all the strong waves , it did not take at all. She had only let the solution on 3 min after applying it. I was very upset cuz you can't just get it done again and my hair looked awful and I had to save to pay for that. She was way more expensive than the other stylist since she was there 6 years. Her cut seemed good. I had went to Beauty School years ago in Miami Florida so I know the process was wrong and I tried to tell Michael this solution needs to stay in my hair way longer to straighten it. He tried to tell her to leave it on longer when the Blonde stylist in the far right corner yelled just leave it on overriding Michael. Her chair is back in the far right . After she yelled that out she was talking softly to her client and she and the client laughed together! What an awful experience it all was. I ended up calling Michael 4 days after i washed and saw my hair all with my deep waves in the back still that I cannot control in the Summer at all. He said he could give a conditioner since it was very damaged. I told him I have a great conditioner at home. So I hung up and tried to call back my stylist hoping I could get some money back since my hair was not straightened at all. Here Mike answered and I told him who I was and I wanted to take to my stylist . He ended up extremely angry and just said I offered you a condition treatment so I just hung up. If I ever in any profession, as in a stylist , I would have offered a little money back. 30 .00 or so and I would have felt respected and understood tgat my hair was gonna even be harder to work with . So I'm sad I really liked Michael and was so thankful for their pricing and he was always gracious. So I'm sorry to have written this review but you have to know what you are doing when giving this type of service.

But being the day before school starts and my own procrastination, we tried that location, but our stylist was at end of her shift, so we tried a local salon. Being busy, my 8 year old son was the fifth guy on the list. My 2 year old son was upset and crying since we weren't at McDonalds...lol, so I stepped outside with my younger son to calm him down. My 8 year old son had selected a hairstyle from a book. So we were all set. But he came outside saying that I was needed inside. Once I walked in, "Jamie" asked me what style. My son was still pointing out the selected picture and I said that one. She went on to ask me whether it was 1 or 2. I had absolutely no ideal what she meant. I kept referring to the picture saying that's what we wanted. She got upset and tried to talk condencending to me, trying to me look like I was a fool for not knowing what 1 and 2 were. I asked if there was somebody else who could cut my sons hair to that selected style, and she got madder, saying that she'd cut my sons hair. While she was cutting my son's hair, three other children were seated for cuts, and each was asked what size the length of hair, some even indicating length with thumb and forefinger, but not once did anybody else berate and belittle their clients by asking 1 or 2. While I stood by counter watching my sons reflection, he was quite upset about something while getting his hair cut. While watching, another stylist started talking to me and I pointed out the criss cross shadow on the back of my son's head. She saw this and quickly went over and corrected the situation, I had just cause to not trust the stylist. After I paid and we walked out, my son told me that the lady was cussing at me and called me "Dick" amongst other things to my son. I went back in and asked who was manager, and let my son speak. I gave him permission to say exactly what the stylist said. Jamie said " he was being a pain since he walked in here", for which I asked the manager if that justified using foul language to a small child and to berate me to him. So, I speak out on this soapbox. There are many great stylist within Great Clips, our favorite being down on Harrison Ave in Dent, Andrea. Speaking of busy times, I would avoid them on Saturdays or right before major holidays (lots of folks getting trimmed before family photos!).
