I have since come back presently and now the salon receptionist rudely left a message saying "since I have not been back since 2019", and Caroline was not taking new clients that I would have to see someone else and Caroline would not accommodate me. I was a loyal client for many years and this is how I am treated?! Where is her loyalty? I guess she is burnt out already. Disrespectful, snooty and I will go to see someone else that is more professional since loyalty is a one way street and not reciprocated. I will take my business to antonaccisalon.

Overall the service was lovely. Winnie seemed very experienced, and even when there was a miscommunication over the inclusion of a trim, they found a way to fit me in. I was initially told the treatment would start at $500, which is something I'm accustomed to, and left the salon paying over $700. Hair for black women is our form of expression, so a treatment that would help with manageability overrides initial concerns for price. Where I started having issues, was when I left the salon. Granted it was a hot day in June, but by the time I got home, my hair needed to be rest straightened showing frizziness and fraying. If you know anything about keratin treatments, the treatment does not activate unless your hair gets to a certain temperature and is left bone straight for multiple days on end. I of course, followed the instructions and left my hair untouched for multiple days, surpassing the initial three day period. As soon as I went for my first wash, I knew there was something different about this treatment. For someone who has been getting keratin treatments for around 10 years, I have an expectation of what it does to my hair texture, and immediately noticed it felt like I had already been washing my hair for a month. Weeks go by, and the issue progresses. A treatment like this typically lasts me around 5 months, and by the end of month one, I was starting to feel due for ANOTHER treatment. Some of these concerns are difficult to put into words, and I understand majority of Meraki's customers do not have ethnic hair, but paying over $700 for a treatment and not having the results I expected has been frustrating. There's areas that seem as if they were left unsaturated, and my roots have kinky curls that are not resemblant of regrowth in just a 2 month period. I hate that I've shared a review this far after my experience, but my main complaint is on logevity...and I've only been able to determine that in the aftermath. I'm not sure if the keratin is a weaker grade than the one I'm used to or it was an issue with saturation, but i don't see myself going back for another treatment, especially at that price.

I've pretty much been a client from the start. Most recently, I asked Mary to cut my thick wavy hair into a chic short style. That was last summer. I get compliments on my hair all the time, yesterday from a waitress in Matthews, today from a professional financial planner. I've found less expensive salons, but never quite come out with the wow I get from Monte Bella Salon.

It's a cute, little place with about six stylist stations tucked behind a bank off Sharon Amity right near Cotswold. I was in and out in less than 2 hours (if you have short hair, be happy since that is record time given the amount of hair I have). I didn't go in with a picture of the color or cut I was looking for so I just explained to him what look I was going for and he got it dead on! Very very very reasonable prices (cannot stress that enough) and I believe they take cash or check only since each stylist rents out a space there. Before I even got there, I was already being texted about being late, and when I explained I did not have her number, I was told it was "on Google or the booking site" in a way that came across very rude and passive aggressive. Once I sat down, she continued bringing up how late I was and mentioned multiple times that she had another client after me and still needed to get hair for them. The entire appointment felt rushed and uncomfortable from the beginning. She kept saying my hair was "matted" even though I had already detangled it before coming, and she repeatedly told me my hair was "straight" and "doesn't curl," which is simply not true. I specifically booked for finger coils and clearly stated multiple times that I did NOT want comb coils, yet she still kept trying to do comb coils anyway. The whole appointment made me feel like she either did not want to do my hair or did not know how to work with my hair texture. I even asked about two-strand twists, she agreed, started them, and I immediately did not like how they looked. When I asked if she could just straighten my hair instead, she told me she "didn't have time" because she had another client scheduled. My appointment was at 1:30 and by around 2:45 I was basically rushed out and left with nothing but a ponytail, while still being charged $45. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and uncomfortable. Update: In response to the owner's reply, I would like to add that she repeatedly claimed my hair was "straight" and did not curl. However, after I returned home, I styled my natural hair myself and my curls were very defined, full, and voluminous. I can provide photos showing this. This further confirmed my belief that she either did not know how to work with my hair texture or did not understand how to style my curls properly. I would also like to mention that after I posted my reviews on Yelp and Google, she began contacting me about them. She called my mother regarding the review and then proceeded to send me multiple messages about it. I found this behavior highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Additionally, after looking more closely at the photos used to advertise her natural hair services, I noticed that many of the natural hair pictures do not appear to be examples of work performed on clients during my experience with her. As a customer, this raises concerns for me about whether the advertised results accurately reflect her own work and experience with natural hair. Everything I stated in my original review was an honest account of my experience. I have no reason to misrepresent what happened. Based on both the appointment itself and the events that followed, I do not believe she handled the situation professionally.
