Choosing a hairdresser is probably more important than choosing a car: you could be with that hairdresser for longer if they are any good and I don't want to even think about how much we pay them over a lifetime!
That said, Salon 71 is a medium-sized upscale "chair rental" hair and nail salon just above Bruegger's of France Ave in Edina.
It has more of a "no nonsense" feel of it than many other salons of similar quality. I think this is probably because it is a chair rental place and the hairstylists would rather pocket their cash than invest a bunch of money into making clients feel pampered with candles and mood lighting. The interior is several shades of beige and somewhat drab, but it has great windows over looking France Ave, is very conveniently located, and has a great magazine selection. Personally, I go to salons for the haircut and not to pay for the overhead, so I like that it isn't super fancy. I also LOVE that they don't push product on you, as many hair stylists at the larger salons (like Juut) must meet minimum sales for product (lame).
I can't comment on the other hairdressers, but I like mine, who I followed to Salon 71 several years ago after she quit her gig in Uptown.
Services there include hair, nails, and wigs. No, they don't accept CC so dust off your checkbook...you gotta use that bad boy for something, right!? read more
