I have just moved to the area and with Covid, I haven't had a cut and highlights for the past 4 months. Finding a good hairstylist is always a challenge. I browsed Yelp and Google and read every feedback provided and decided to give this salon a shot. Maria was my stylist and I am very pleased with my highlights (I have very thick hair and most of my grey is in the front) as she put the right amount and placed them perfectly. I also changed my style, as with a 4 month-growth, I could afford a slented bob. She did a fantastic job with it too. It is not an easy cut. She was so kind and so pleasant. I am overall extremelly happy with the experience, and so telieved to have found my new stylist! I have already made my next appointment! read more

I was unhappy with another salon that never listen to me. So, a friend told me about this salon and i called and made an appointment. I walked through the door and the place was beautiful. I had Robin, she sat me down and we talked about my hair, and she colored and styled it for me. I think i finally found my hair salon. First time here and came because of the reviews for Becky re curly hair. My issue is that no one wore masks here- not the owner, Becky, or any of the clients. Yes, I could have asked them to or left but I really needed the services and I felt outnumbered. My bad. Took my mask off of course for the haircut and color and was not offered a disposable one. At least there was distancing since the salon wasn't busy. Haircut and color were good and I would have been a regular but it's not worth it to risk serious illness. Will never go back. read more

NIGHTMARE Hair Color,, During my appt, for Easter, I asked LESLEY for light golden blond on my head and a few highlights in the bangs. She left for a few minutes and then came back and told me she was going to make it darker and do a full reconstruction. i had no idea what that was...While she was applying the foil, LESLE talked incessantly that she was 72, very broke but still needed tp keep working. I heard about her broken refrig and other costly items. While she was rinsing and shampooing my hair, she was very agressive and hard on my neck and head, hurting them. I had to tell her to stop. All of this foiling took longer than expected, so I had to leave without blowdrying. I could already tell it was too dark, but thought I would go home and see if it was alright. I had called ahead of time and received a price for hair color and a couple highlights and brought comparable cash. I was shocked to hear that the bill was $180.00. So I had to use my debit card which the salon charges 3.5% and the cash I had brought with me. LESLEY knew my hair wasn't right. She commented that it "would lighten up" and was very nervous. I left ,went home and saw my hair and started crying. My hair was brown in the back with a few tacky blond, not golden, highlights in the top. Horrible color and completely different than what I wanted. I called ROBIN "the owner" first thing Saturday morning, left a message and then emailed. I was going to have her fix it, but after speaking with her on the phone, I seriously doubted her abilities. She was rude, nasty, abrupt and didn't care what happened. I emailed her later that day and told her I just wanted a refund. I agreed to go in Tuesday morning for my refund. I already knew that she wasn't going to honor her shop, but I wanted to hear what she had to say. She didn't disappoint. They must hve lots of problems, because she had talking points, gaslighting for everything I said. According to her, my hair was fine, no refund. I don't think she had the money. Low budget salon. She became very surly, aggressive, angry, hostile and ordered me out of her shop. I was embarassed for her that she was the shop owner. Finally, I noticed several of her employees were terrified of her. Cora, who answers the phone, told me she didn't want to get in trouble and could hardly schedule appointments. I spent $250.00 plus generous tipping, in her shop in the past week and I HATE my hair. This is a very scary place. read more

I've been debating on writing this for a week seeing if I'd cool off or feel differently at all but really I haven't. I went in with almost waist length hair for a trim and color (my roots were really bad - over 2"). I loved my hair. It's difficult hair, but it does what I want it to. My stylist somehow piled all of my lightened hair in a matted mess in the shampoo sink that could then only be cut out. I seriously cringe at the moment I realized I was being forced to chop my hair off. I was absolutely speechless in the salon, where as a mom who rarely does anything for herself I finally do and then get the worst experience. Um - hi humiliation of standing in the salon trying to rip a knot out of my hair. My color is pretty bad as well. It's exactly what I said I did not want (warm and dark and not blending at all with my ends). I later went home and toned it further but I unfortunately need the cut and color corrected. I get sad seeing my hair. Still can't believe I was charged for this hot mess. I found Robin (new owner) by word of mouth-boy am I happy I did! I just moved to FL and finding a good stylist was honestly one of my biggest fears. I have short hair-so someone with with a good skill set is t easy to find. Robin superseded my expectations! She listened to what I wanted and was able to view a picture and implement the cut perfectly! The salon has just been refinished and is adorable. All of the stylists there were incredibly nice and went above and beyond to make my first visit special. I walked in and asked how much a hair cut was as the two hair stylist were at the sinks washing hair on two customers. One in a red dress left to come up to the counter said $25, I said I would be back in a few minutes going next door and be right back.... no one else in the salon she said they are booked up and can not do my hair? No asking me if I d like to leave my number if she has a cancellation or anything she just smugly handed me her price list. As I walked out I said why hand me your price list ? For 1... I attempted to make an appointment for a men's haircut and explained to the employee who answered the phone that I was in a Covid-vulnerable age and health group. She then volunteered that the stylists there did not use masks. When i asked her if she thought that was wise she said that "she was not going to live her life afraid." When I pointed out that the mask was to protect ME., she said that she was not going to work all day in a mask. I told her she wouldn't have to on my account and hung up. I'm a little slow to review this salon, I actually visited about 3 weeks ago. I'm new to Florida and had no clue where to go for hair services, so, as usual I consulted Yelp. Great decision! I called the salon about 30 minutes after closing, and left a message saying I'd hoped to get an appointment that Friday, with the owner, Robin. Within 10 minutes Robin returned my call and fit me in for that day. When I arrived she met me at the door with a big smile. I brought a photo of a style I'd real worn in 2012. She asked me a few more questions, especially how I liked the back, since the photo was only of the front. I asked her to please just stick to the highlight, cut and style and not add any extras, as other salons had padded my bill adding glazes, etc. without my permission. She responded that she only provided services that were requested by the client. I has extremely pleased that she exceeded my expectations, giving me a cut and highlights better than the photo in less than 1 1/2 hours. She was an absolute pleasure to talk with and very professional. Plus everyone in the shop were super friendly. The salon was very clean, and had a pleasant, uplifting atmosphere. Each time we go to FL I make an appointment at The Hair Depot. I threatened my husband that if we don't find a house to buy down there this year, I will be flying to Ellenton every 6 weeks so Anita can cut my hair!
