Poor Results and Overpriced I recently went in for my first cut, color, and fashion highlights in five years with a master stylist in Suwanee. I was very nervous but hopeful. Unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed after being charged over $400 plus tip. COLOR / HIGHLIGHTS    *   The overall color was much darker than what I requested.    *   The contrast and definition of the highlights were minimal.    *   The color was not properly rinsed out. When I touched my hair in the car afterward, my hands turned completely purple.    *   I was told to wash my hair only in ice-cold water or the fashion color would fade quickly -- however, the color faded drastically after just two washes.    *   Within a week, the purple had mostly faded, and I can now clearly see the blonde underneath where my hair was lightened. The fashion color did not last even a week. HAIRCUT    *   The stylist performed a dry cut and seemed very rushed.    *   Thinning shears were used throughout the entire cut.    *   The final result looked choppy, unprofessional, frizzy, and nothing like the reference picture I showed -- despite repeatedly communicating what I wanted. After spending over $400, I had to go home and trim uneven edges myself. Now, just one week later, most of the highlights have faded. Highly upset with this location and never going to them again. Have been there few times now my daughter that is 16 went and got hair done and I could not make it due to work. They completely took advantage of her and she indicated to leave a 7 dollar tip considering her hair cost 150. They used that in her advantage to just take the rest of it and when I called they said we gave it all to the stylist so next time just make sure you're with her. I expressed my concerns about ever returning and told them they lost a customer because they wanted to take advantage of a 16 year old over 10 dollars. read more

First of all, this location has moved to Grayson. Clarice at the Snellville, now Grayson, location has been cutting my hair for 5 years now. I couldn't be happier! We always sit down first and discuss what I want done. Even though I'm there every 6-8 weeks for a cut she takes the time to find out what I want first. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone with experience and knowledge. I have been to salons all over Atlanta and found too many stylists that were more concerned about gossiping with other stylists, customers, etc, then to pay any attention to what they are doing! One day I couldn't wait to see her so I called and asked for someone good to trim my hair and touch up my color. That's when I met Marlena. Salon experience overall was good. Prompt & friendly greeting at the reception desk when I entered, offering me a beverage. While waiting for the stylist, I wandered over to the adjoining product area, called "Crush" similar to a smaller-scale Ulta. My stylist greeted me by name and with a handshake...first good impression. She escorted me to her chair for a brief consultation about my hair and then we went to the shampoo bowl where I got a great scalp massage. My experience at the salon was good, however, the haircut was not. I paid for a style, but only received a partial blow-dry...I left a little disappointed and have since let my hair grow out and have not returned. read more

Pandemic Precautions: Not following the Guidelines! Unfortunately there are unvaccinated, unmasked hairstylists. I am worried to be honest, to find out after I spent quite a bit of time having my hair highlighted, washed, cut and styled by the unmasked stylist, that she was not vaccinated, not wearing a mask to protect her customers, not following CDC guidelines. She told me AT THE END that SHE IS NOT VACCINATED!!! I was under the understanding that Salon 124 was following CDC guidelines, at least that's what I was told by the business when I called and the sign on the door. Again, I am disappointed, and upset. As far as my hair goes, it looks great, but, hoping I did not contract covid nor give it to my husband while waiting out the incubation period. She told me at the end! During these times people need to be upfront so, the customer can make his / her choices with all the information. I would not have gone there, had I known. That is my right to make an informed decision. If your sign and your schedulers tell you the establishment is following CDC guidelines, then it should be. I have been a client of Salon 124 for over 20 years and for the last 10 or so years I belong to Austin! She is so skilled ( some may say a perfectionist)! She always consults first , makes suggestions when I don't know what change I may want and is even honest enough to steer me away from something I think I want but tells me why that may not work for me. She is also an fantastic makeup artist. The magic she did for myself and my daughter and the entire wedding party for my daughters wedding was amazing and I have had several people ask me for her name and number! I've had my hair colored twice at Salon 124. When I visited today I was charged more than I was originally told over the phone. Come to find out that an additional charge of $30 for "glazing" was added to my bill. I did NOT ask for this extra service and have never even heard of it. I guess last time I came in Cathy had charged me for it as well and never asked me if I wanted this added on. I had 4 services last time (color, cut, eye brow tint and wax) and I also purchased product, so when I received my total, I didn't think to question it. Today I only had my eye brows tinted and my hair touched up. My total was over what I was quoted and that's what made me question it this time. I received an attitude from my stylist (Alexis) because she said I had asked for what I had done last time. Again, I was never told that an addition service was to be done. I explained the total I was quoted.. she did end up agreeing to take the additional charge off but I'm still upset that this happened in the first place. Beware of additional charges for services that you did not ask for to be charged to you. read more

If I could give this salon zero stars I would. Basically the reason for the post is because they obviously have more work than they know what to do with because they didn't even call me back for an appt! Basically you get "assessed" for the type of stylist and then when you call for an appt, you have to leave a message. I got one call back and the answer was, "they aren't available, you will have to call back another time." I asked if I could have someone else than those matched to me and the answer was yes, let me figure out availability and call you back. That was the last I ever heard from them and it is now a week and a half later. I will not go at this point if they call, but they function off the tiered system. Tier 1 will be the cheapest cut and least experienced person and the higher the tier the more knowledge and price. Not interested and frankly they obviously don't need my business. read more

Salon 124 is a beautiful salon. This was first time here. We are full-time RVers so I look for a good salon when we are going to be somewhere for a few days. I found Salon 124 from the Bumble and Bumble website and then checking Yelp. Neisha was my stylist. She spent time and asking questions about what I wanted for my cut and color. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend this Neisha and this salon. When we are back in this area and need hair services, Salon 124 is my place. read more

I have been going to Salon 124 for years, but I think it's time for a change. My very first hair cut there was my very best and I loved it. I've tried to ask the stylist for the same cut each time. I use the same girl each time, but each time I walk out a little more disappointed. I don't know what has changed, but I am more and more depressed each time I walk out. This last time - I have a cut that makes me look like a 70's teenage boy who is trying to grow his hair out. It's horrible. I called and asked if I could get another stylist to show me what I could possibly do with this cut. I was met with, "We can't do anything about it. We can't put hair back." Really - no one could help me fix this disaster? My hair is thinning anyway, and this stylist gave me layers! Layers that make my hair look even more thin on the bottom. I can see daylight through my hair! I think that a good stylist would actually know how to help thinning hair. I think that they would suggest a cut that would compliment my face and hair type. Not this stylist. I am sad. I don't know where else to go for a real stylist. Any suggestions? read more

I called a day before I wanted a cut because I was going to make the leap and cut off all of my long hair and go with a shorter style. I told the young woman over the phone what I was wanted to do and that I was wanting to donate my hair to locks for love. She was nice and accommodating over the phone and I set up the appointment for the next morning. I arrived at the salon a bit early because I feel better early than late in case they have a busy schedule. I wait there for at least 35 minutes after my scheduled time. When I finally get to my stylist she's older, that doesn't always scare me but this woman who is approximately 63 with a very run of the mill haircut on her. This should have been my first alarm to go off in my head. I go to get the wash as I expect when I'm going to be paying for a nice salon cut. The entire time that she is washing my head she is constantly trying to talk up the product they use it was more like a sales pitch than the casual conversation that I was expecting from a stylist. I was hoping that she might be asking what I was thinking about doing with my hair today. After the mediocre wash that I got from the sales woman because by now I'm already convinced that she's more interested in selling redkin or whatever brand they are sponsored by that she really doesn't care about the cut any more. She finally asks what I would like to have done. I mention that I want to get a shorter more modern style and refer to a few actors that I was hoping that she'd know. I say David Tennant (Ok, I get it most American's aren't' very aware of him), I say Alexander Skarsgard (Nope), I mention a few other fairly know actors and famous people to try and give her an idea. She still has no idea. So I bring out the pictures that I thoughtfully had printed off before I went to the salon. She briefly looks over them and is like ok. Before I can say Hey I'd like to give to Locks of Love *SNIP*. Yeah the 14 Inches that I had measured ahead of time to donate ruined. Now I can no longer give to a child that could use my hair that I have taken great care of over the years. I'm already upset at this point. and ready to leave and say "screw it I'll go to a barber". But I decide I'll give this woman another chance, maybe it's just a simple mistake. she starts cutting away. then asks me if she could see the pictures again. O.o are you kidding me they are right next to her!. Now I have to add that the ENTIRE TIME that she is cutting on my hair she is trying to sell the product to me. And at this point I'm like you could be selling me Gold bars for the price of dirt and I couldn't be less interested because you obviously don't care about the customer. Finally, the cut is finished. I call it a cut because there was no style to it at all. I have literally cut my hair better using a utility razor. At this point I don't care any more and I am Like great I'm going now. Oh, you want me to try some of your product? you should have mentioned that. I pay the young woman at the counter the $45 for what I consider a total hack job and leave as fast as possible. I have an appointment in about an hour from the time that I leave the salon so I don't have time to go and try and make something out of what I feel looks like two chinchillas have had a scuffle on. When I get to my appointment I couldn't help but notice that the person that I'm talking too can't stop looking at the monstrosity that sits upon my scalp. The day I want to the salon in the Kroger shopping center on the corner of rosebud and Grayson Hwy. spoke to a stylist there and at the point I said "do anything you can to fix this, took off my hat and let her go to town. I have to say the style I got there wasn't something that I was going for but it was a thousand times better for a fraction of the price. Kudos. I will say this is all based on my first and last experience at Salon 124 and that this is only one stylist. That is why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one. But my iniital impression is that they really want to be an upscale salon but really have no idea on how to do it or who they have working the scissors there. read more

Before I begin my review, I'd like to disclose that I have very thick, curly, and heavy hispanic hair. Nina was my hair stylist today, I came for a walk-in haircut to have some bad layering fixed and she was with me within 5 minutes. She talked with me about what I wanted for about 10 minutes and showed me some options to guide me in the right direction, and didn't have any trouble working with my hair. She explained everything she was going to do and asked if I was okay with each part of it so there was no miscommunication. She had some cancellations today so she washed and blew/ironed my hair straight free of charge. She was very personable and easy to talk to without being overbearing. I enjoyed letting her mess around a bit with my hair while still being very professional about what she was doing. I'll definitely be returning when I need another haircut. Excellent work! read more

I don't like to give bad reviews, but Bailey waxed my eyebrows and took away from the tops and made them lopsided. She even took away more from the middle edge of one eyebrow so it is visibly shorter than the other. I really hope they grow back in. I explained that it was only my second time and she didn't ask me anything else about what I wanted to achieve. She seemed to be in a rush. read more

After I came home, I realized that the color was not exactly how I wanted it, so I called the Salon and the stylists asked if I could come back to the Salon just before their closing time. I had been going to Salon 124 for over six years until my stylist quit. After that I jumped around for about a year trying to find a new salon and stylist since I have silver hair, which can be a bit tricky. Eventually I decided to go back to Salon 124 since they got me to silver in the first place, but since I hadn't been there in awhile, I had no idea what stylist to go to. I called to make an appointment and asked for a stylist that had experience with silver hair, fashion colors, and more alternative cuts. When I went in, it was clear that this stylist was not experienced in any of those categories as she relied on a different stylist to come up with every formula she used on my hair. Pretty concerning. I left with hair way darker than I usually have, but was going to deal with it as dark silvers usually fade out to a nicer color. When I got home, I inspected my hair closer under better lighting, and the roots had patches and bands of yellow, not cute. I knew that if I were to wash my hair, it would only get worse, so I called the salon and spoke to the manager. When I mentioned the stylist I went to, she asked who told me she had experience with silver. Well that's concerning, your girls at the front desk have no knowledge of your stylists and make poor recommendations to clients. She asked me to come back in and see a stylist that actually had experience with fashion colors. This stylist ended up just putting another layer of glaze over the yellow roots to cover them up, but since it's a glaze, it's washes right out, and after a few washes I was left with brassy hair yet again. I just dealt with it until I needed to come back in to get my roots done. I went to the stylist that did my revision, and mentioned that I wasn't a fan of the previous silver mix that was used as it looked dusty to me. She lightened my roots, but there were still a lot of brassy tones that concerned me and I even voiced that they concerned me, but I was ensured the glaze would conceal the tones. The color I ended up with looked very similar to the color I was unhappy with and was again way darker than I wanted, but I left in hopes it would lighten up. After one wash, my roots were ORANGE. I wash my hair once a week in luke warm water; silver hair should not turn orange after one wash. Went back in a week later for a revision appointment, she re lightened my roots and applied a different mix of Pulp Riot color and glaze since the previous glaze was basically already gone from my hair. And here I am a couple weeks later with a ton of uneven yellow patches in my hair and a color that is neither silver, nor gray. I was in contact with the stylist, and she recommended I come back in for an additional revision appointment, so she could try something else. I appreciate the salon wanting to make things right, but really? I've already had to come in for two revision appointments and I'm supposed to come back for another? As mentioned earlier, I have had silver hair for around two years now, and I've never had this much of a struggle, not to mention my hair has never been so damaged and lack luster. read more

I have been coming to salon 124 for years now and I won't let anyone besides Cassie touch my hair. She listens to what I want and is honest when I think I want one thing but she knows what will work and not work and will tell me so. She will also take the time to give me hints and tips on how to style it at home. The girls at the counter are always so friendly and helpful. Some reviews I have read talk about how some stylist push products, I've never felt that way . Cassie will suggest certain products but I never feel like she's giving me a sales pitch. My wife has been coming here for years and I am going to start! Hayden is the most pleasant person I think we've ever met. I usually just sit in the lobby waiting on the wife, but after seeing how happy she after her cut and color from Hayden, maybe it's time I leave the old barber! It's not only that Hayden knows what she is doing, as my wife raves about this "magician" ,but it's how she talks about this young woman like they are old friends.
