Horrible experience! I went in to salon 119 and had blonde highlights done by Savannah and she did an awesome job. About a month later it was time for me to get my hair done again and I called to make an appointment but savannah was completely booked the days I could come. I was planning on waiting until I could get into see her but then my husband and I decided to go on a last-minute trip and I wanted to get my hair done before we left. So I had to book an appt with another stylist. I should've gone with my gut and waited until I could've seen Savannah. From the get go I had a bad feeling about it. This stylist was very sloppy, she was dropping things all over the floor, as she was putting the foils in my head she would splash the bleach all over my face. Just other little things like that kept happening that made me feel like she was either a new hairstylist or just not a very good one. she finished the highlights, rinsed out my hair and began blow drying it. Now I am very tough, I am not tender headed at all and I rarely complain but I had to tell this girl to stop numerous times because she was burning my forehead & my ear so badly. I've never had a stylist burn me with the blow dryer like that. When I made the appointment I said I wanted to get highlights and a trim as I had some dead ends. The highlights took forever and it was almost closing time so as she was drying my hair I said, we can just do the trim another time. I go to pay and she tells me it's going to be $115. When I was in there a month before and had the exact same thing done it was only $85 so I questioned her. She stumbles and stutters over her words and says oh yeah I forgot you're not getting haircut so it's only going to be $90. I'm still confused why it was $5 more this time but I was just ready to go so I paid it and left. When I get in the car and look, it looks fine. Since this was the second time I had highlights I had a lot more blonde in my hair and I really like having my hair light so I was excited and my husband loved it also. Then when I'm getting ready to go to bed that evening I pull my hair back into a ponytail and I'm shocked to see a big patch of brown hair right in the front of my head. I look closer, moving my hair around and there are several spots that she just completely skipped over. It looked absurd. And as I move my hair around, I began to see the numerous shades of "blonde". It was clear the places where the old highlights were because they were a pretty golden blonde color but everywhere the new highlights were was brassy and leaning orange, like she didn't tone it at all. Like I said my husband and I were planning a trip out of town, leaving in 2 days, and I did not want to go with my hair like this. So I go by the next day and show them the problem. 3 different stylists come up and look at my hair and they all agree that she did a bad job (she wasn't there thank god). One of the girls assured me though that she could fix it as I was getting quite upset, crying because it looked so bad. We make an appointment for the next day and I go in and the new stylist begins working on my hair when suddenly the girl that messed me up so bad comes and sits next to us and says that she is going to observe so she doesn't make these mistakes again. She sat there the entire time I got my hair re-highlighted and it was the most awkward experience of my life. Oh and she never even bothered to apologize, not once. She even says that I "should've told her I like to wear my hair in a ponytail so they could be sure that it looked good from all directions". I'm no hairstylist but that's the craziest thing I've ever heard. It's my fault you skipped huge sections of hair?!? We finally get it completed, I look it over & it looks much better. I tip this new hairstylist & I'm on my way. I shouldn't of even been surprised but I get home & I still have a huge brown streak in my head STILL. At this point, I'm livid. (I've written this review 3 times and its cutting me off so I'll abbreviate this part) I messaged the owner on FB, ask for a refund cause I need to go somewhere else to get it fixed and I shouldn't have to pay for such a horrible job that they did TWICE. She refuses & says the only thing they will do is fix it. I go in only because I'm telling you I look absolutely ridiculous & there is no way I am going on a trip looking so stupid & I don't have the time nor another $100 to pay another place to fix it. I go in, they are all crazy rude, they "fix" it. Finally looks passable enough for me to not feel like a total idiot. Savannah is great but because the owner was so rude, I don't recommend going here at all. read more

I always have a great experience at Salon 119. Kali has done a miracle with the horrible haircut I received at another salon in Alabaster. She and her co-workers are so good at what they do. I am so glad I finally found somewhere and someone who really takes the time to listen and care. I feel very comfortable and welcomed at their shop. I won't go anywhere else. And, my husband's hair always looks great when they do his hair too!!! read more

That was absolutely terrifying! I was never even introduced to the stylist that chopped my my hair up so badly in less than five minutes somehow giving it the look of split ends... if you're reading this and it's too late to run from your chair do NOT let those angry ladies curl it. If it's straight at least they can see what kind of chunked up layered mess was made and something can be salvaged. I would have had it fixed on the spot but now I'm wishing my bun back for work! read more

The stylist couldn't care less that I was a new client. She slapped some color on my head while gossiping with the other stylists, then stuck me in the corner for well over an hour while she went to lunch. My hair cut took her exactly two minutes, during which she butchered my hair.. You get what you pay for, and I'd rather pay more to be seen by someone who actually cares about her clients! I believe she thought she didn't have to try because she was the owner.. Wrong. LAZY stylist!! read more

I got butchered!!!! I asked for my hair to be cut to my shoulders, my hair is now about 3 centimeters below my ear lobes, back of my hair doesn't even touch my COLLAR OF MY SHIRT!!!!!!! I am absolutely MORTIFIED. Never EVER in 40 years has my hair EVER been this short. I will tell anyone and everyone about my horrible experience here! My hair is straight as a board and wanted an inch and a half taken off and now I'm in a bob almost, can barely put it behind me ears MORTIFIED!!! read more

Just moved here from Georgia and was having a hard time finding a highlight and cut for a reasonable price . Heck, the beauty school started at $100 to have your hair done by a STUDENT! I found Shelley and she did an amazing job ! Definitely recommend going to see her for your hair needs . The salon itself is nothing fancy and gets the job done. The other stylists seemed very professional as well . Seems like they have a good client base of regulars. If you want a good hair cut for a reasonable price , try Salon 119! read more

Two haircuts on the same day. One hair stylist was arguing with husband/boyfriend and the other was letting her children run around the shop. Both were rude and very unprofessional. Definitely will never go back! read more
