This follows my review of 1/25/23. I was still having a little trouble with my right boot (it's always hard to tell how a boot repair will work until you've skied with the boot), so I came back to the store, and again, Luke spent half an hour with me, again, for nothing, and with those last tweaks, the boot worked great. These guys totally saved one of my ski trips this past season. I had just bought a new pair of Salomon ski boots in Austin, Texas where I live. Very sadly, they proved to be unbearably tight while skiing. I could barely finish a single run without plopping down in the snow, ripping the boots off, and letting the blood flow back into my feet. This was way beyond the normal getting-to-know-your-boots discomfort. After a couple of hours of misery I popped in this Salomon shop and the boot fitter there (Mark, I think) helped me out. He measured my feet and rented me a pair of boots one size up from the ones I owned - in same model. The rest of my trip was much better after that and I'm very appreciative of the help I got at this store. Once I got back home, I exchanged my boots for the same size I rented and the following ski trip was awesome. No more numbness. Hooray! read more

Have been skiing for a long time and decided to get my own boots. Came to the Salomon store because I really like the brand. Max was really great in helping me select a boot that would be best for me. He gave me great tips to keep my boots in good shape. The boots are really comfortable and the custom fitting makes for a really great ski experience. Max really cared for the comfort and safety of his customer. My sister was also looking for boots. The store didn't have the particular boot she was looking for and, because we were in Vail for a short time, he recommended going to other stores rather than trying to force a boot that wouldn't be the best for her. I highly recommend Max as he was knowledgable and extremely helpful. read more

Outstanding service! Every staff member is very helpful and goes out of their way to provide care for the customer's boot, boot-fitting, and skiing/boarding needs. I worked mostly with Luke and Barry, and those guys are just absolutely amazing. I'm so appreciative of the help they gave me with my boots, and my husband and I will never go anywhere else for ski rentals! Never was a true believer of the custom fit notion until I met Will at the Lionshead store. Shared my fit issues with him. He replied that if he did the custom fit right, I "wouldn't see him again." He did a fabulous job. Skied four days on the back bowls of Vail - boots comfortable yet performed great. I highly recommend Will. Excellent qualities & effective: ability to listen well, knowledgeable, technically competent and professional. Not to mention that the Salomon custom fit boot, in the right hands is impressive. So I did not see Will again but am giving him a shout out on Yelp. Go see him and the folks at Salomon. read more

Mark was very knowledgeable and helpful and should probably get 10 stars for apologizing and covering for Vail Sports completely inadequate customer service. Mark immediately was tuned into my issue, and offered numerous options and answered all my questions. With the custom shell boots, I thought we would need to put them back in the oven and tweak them again with shim padding as we had done the first time with my instep adjustment. This takes about 30 minutes to heat and cool. Mark offered some other techniques that he thought would be more effective. My issue was mainly in the toe box. He was able to add a 1/4" heel lift, and grind down the foot bed under the toes by a few millimeters. We tried this on one boot so I could compare the two side by side. This was an immediate relief to the problem, so we went ahead and did the 2nd boot. This minor difference was immediately apparent. He observed that my arch collapses a bit under weight, so he suggested custom insoles and offered a 20% discount off of the $150 price. I didn't think the extra expense was warranted, so we tried some off-the shelf insoles. These, in addition to Mark's previous tweaks were the solution. In about 15 minutes, my boot fit guarantee issues were resolved, and the customer service was top notch. I had a great day of skiing, and my discomfort was gone. Love the custom shell boots, and loved the fact that Salomon in Lionshead not only honored the guarantee, but really helped me get a good fit. I'm so glad I didn't do the adjustment at Vail Sports. Their cavalier and dismissive attitude probably would carried over into the fitting process, and good fitting ski boots is THE most crucial component of the ski performance and comfort experience. Mark at Salomon saved the day, saved me time, and saved me money. The Salomon store in Lionshead is now my first choice. Vail Sports is my last. read more
