We are a little older and are slowing down a little. Connor helped us, and really took the time to ask us how we ride, what we like & don't like. Then set us up with Demo boards that were perfect! We've always had good luck with Burton, but still hear stories of people at various rental shops being rude, short, or cocky. After a day of riding Vail, I checked out the village. I decided to see if the Burton Store in Vail had two basic items - a rubber "plug" for the EST channel of my board and some hot wax. I do patronize local/"mom n' pop" shops when possible, my assumption is these two items would be the one stop shop for wax and a Burton specific item. When I walked in, there were three guys working in the store having a conversation about a customer, and they seemed irritated by "her" (eg. something to the effect she was demoing an AK jacket and didn't return it). I was wearing my gear since I was out riding that day, and paced the store twice to try to find these two items. None of the guys greeted me or asked me if I needed help, there were no other customers in the store. During this time, three young ladies who seemed not to be riding that day came in. Immediately, one of the gentleman asked if they could be of assistance. Ok, whatever. Since I couldn't find either of these items, I proceeded to the front counter and stood there for at least 30 seconds looking at the guy behind the register, who was focused on a screen and didn't make eye contact. I noticed the store manager's business card on the counter, and it was the same name on the name tag of the guy behind the front counter/register. After an awkward silence, I ask "What's up?" then he acknowledges me. I then ask for the rubber plug, and he states they don't sell them. He went ahead and got one off their demo boards and gave them to me, I was expecting to pay for a 2 pack. He then suggests that I donate to the veteran's cause they are promoting, however I didn't have cash at the time, and he goes to say they take credit. Ugh, ok, fine. How about $3 for this piece of plastic and charge my debit card? That's what happened, seems petty. I then ask the guy at the "demo/tuning counter" where they have several racks of boards and ask if they have hot wax. No, only rub on wax. How does a snowboard shop that does tuning and demos not have hot wax? You have every hardgood and softgood known to man/woman and no hot wax? Hmm.. Apparently if you are into the sport of snowboarding and need some basic/simple maintenance items, don't go here. They'll favor ladies with deep pockets who want to buy softgoods. I had a pair of bindings break on me on day two of riding them. I popped into the store to see if they had a new high back I could put on. Brian took one look at my binding, empathized with me, and replaced the pair right there on the spot. Made it totally painless. He even set up the new pair to the exact specifications I had before. The sales staff at this store define customer service. I managed a surf shop in Maui for a few years... these guys hit all the points. There were a couple newbies in the shop (as there will always be) and combined with me being relatively new to the sport, 2 questionable purchases were made. The rest of the staff cumulatively stepped in and tweaked the shop's guidelines to make us happy. In return we dropped close to $3,000 and walked away with 2 full setups- board, boots, bindings... & goggles, helmet, gloves. Burton head to toe. Specifically, I bought a set of bindings and didn't like them- Nick stoked me out by taking them off my hands and rotating them into the rental fleet, and suggested I demo gear. My girlfriend and I demoed 10 snowboards over the next few days (and a couple bindings). I worked closely with the other seasoned pros in the shop- Grant, Sam and Roxy- to choose gear based on my feedback. They extended the rent-to-buy contract from 2 days to 3 days, and even mailed me (on the honor system) a different sized boot a day after I rode and realized they were too big- (that was the misinformed purchase I was referring to...) In the end, I got the Burton Landlord, Cartel Bindings & SLX Boot. This is the most satisfying purchase I have made in a LONG time. Last year (Nov 2015) a few friends and I planned a snowboarding trip to Vail, and given my newest (third) board is from 1999 (Burton Freedom - Victoria Jealouse) - since I haven't lived in Colorado since 2001 - I now demo boards instead of renting, since I'm particular. I called the Burton - Vail Village location, as well as this one, from DC a few weeks in advance to book my specifications, and so appreciate the time both Brian and Sam (Samantha) spent on the phone with me to cater to my specifications. Given it'd been awhile, and the last time I rode was in Tahoe or Mammoth a few years ago, we talked through my style, board preferences, and they hooked me up with the Burton Feelgood Flying V 152, Escapade Bindings (vs. Lexa), and the Felix Boots (vs. Ritual). We also chatted about the Lipstick or High Spirits boards as other options, and they gave me the option to return throughout the day to swap out if I wasn't digging the Feelgood Flying V (I didn't). He went out of his way to help out a problem that had been bugging me for months and I already feel a huge difference in my boarding, just from his little tweaking. So I go to strap in for my first run of the day at the top of Eagles nest, and my toe strap snaps in half. (My bindings have lasted 3 full winters without issues, just startd season 4 and I live in vail so they get used A LOT) Downloaded, went to the burton store and they fixed it right away. Get back to the top of the gondola, strap in my right foot and my left ankle strap snaps. Download again and once again Nick was so helpful and understanding. He not only replaced the broken strap but replaced the other ankle strap as well just in case, free of charge. So now i have almost all new straps and an extra one just in case. I was so impressed with the customer service from nick and the cheerfulness of the rest of the staff. Would absolutely send everyone and anyone their way! Nice work guys. read more

Matt is great. Super knowledgeable and helpful. He totally changed my snowboarding!. I was catching a lot of edges and suspected it had something to do with the fit of my boots. I walked into the store and Matt came over. When I started telling him what was going on he immediately pinpointed the problem. Been looking to buy a new board, bindings and boots for about a year now, but have always been reluctant to do so because staff at other local shops didn't seem very knowledgable. I went to Burton yesterday and met with Shae who was accommodating, and able to answer every question I had. She definitely knew the different products very well which made me feel confident in my purchase. I went back today and she fitted my new cartel bindings on my new custom Flying V, and I can't wait to strap in with my new ion boots for winter 2016-2017!!
