Brian in Palm Beach Gardens, FL...I think that this is the best ski rental place in all of vail for several reasons...not to take anything away from the nice people that work at vail sports or any of the other rental places. It is just a great set-up to the day there. You get treated like you are part of a family. They are interested in where people are from. They like talking about where you're going to get lunch or dinner during and after skiing or snowboarding. It doesn't matter who waits on you there, for they are all able to take care of you. It is just really easy every time that I make it out to vail from palm beach gardens, florida. I have used this store 3 straight years and it is just nice to be around the family at this place. I like that it also so easy to walk to the ticket office and ski lift from this store. In addition, they have lockers that are cheaper than the ones at the VTC -- 1.00 vs. 8.00 for the day and i used two of the lockers next to american ski exchange (not to take anything away from the warm vail transportation centers' lockers that are near great mexican food in the same building). i just want to use these people over and over (not use them like use them, but rent from them because they are also really cheap...i am able to get demo skis, boots and poles for around 50.00-60.00 for the day too. Look, everyone in vail is nice and I only get to ski one day a year for the time being. They just make it so easy with trying on a boot and i am like super attention deficit disorder at 44 years old. I would try them first. read more

I visited Vail for a 3 day ski trip with family and friends, and we decided to rent when we arrived. American Ski Exchange was recommended as the best option for price and customer service, and the recommendation did not disappoint. The employees were extremely helpful and understanding to all situations. For example, after the first day, it snowed very heavily and I was feeling uncomfortable with my ski size. I took them back to swap for a smaller size. The kind employee searched the whole stock for a different size, after finding a different sized ski, he then gave me the recommendation to stick with the skis for 1 more day because they were better on powder. I took his recommendation over my personal preference, and it worked out amazing. The Solomon brand wooden skis glided through the powder, as I enjoyed 2 more amazing days of skiing. I am more than satisfied with the service and the attention they consistently provided. Thank you, American Ski Exchange! read more

I met the owner of this store, Tom, and his son working there last week and they couldn't have been friendlier! Took the time to show me around their large locker storage area along with his beautiful black lab, Sam. They are dog friendly and I walked in with my small pooch. Anyone living in Vail knows that being dog friendly is key! Anyway, I ended up getting a pretty great deal on a new ski jacket for this season at a super reasonable price, along with a few other pieces of gear (they were running a special on winter gear when I was in, so grabbed gloves and a few base layers) for the upcoming season. I would recommend this store to anyone visiting Vail but not looking to break the bank on pricey gear. Honestly, it's a relief to know there's a store that I feel comfortable recommending to friends/family visiting town and looking to get on on the slopes. read more

5 of 5 bubblesReviewed yesterday NEW We rented skis from American ski exchange for two weeks. This is a family run business of Tom & Jacqui and daughter and son and dog, Samantha. We searched online for ski rental prices and American Ski Exchange had the best deals in Vail. The service was efficient, friendly. Nothing was too difficult for the staff. They knew the exact types of skis suitable for our ages and levels of skiing. They knew the best bindings settings for us. When we took the skis back for waxing and servicing, it was no problem and quickly done. To top it off, Tom gave us a great deal in buying skis. In addition, ski gear and accessories are very competitively priced relatively to the larger ski apparel shops. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g33676-d11965628-r460785894-American_Ski_Exchange-Vail_Colorado.html# read more

There were 9 of us in our group, arrived to rent all the equipment at one time and the staff was all over it. We were outfitted with expertise and swift attention. Very friendly and accommodating, you know its a family affair there. During the week, we met them all I think. Tom and Jackie, his wife, are exceptional, Jackson and his sister, and the rest of the crew all worked like they are family, Rentals, were all this years gear, new and fast. Skis, boots, poles and helmet, we got it all. Alas, they store the skis for free downstairs, just steps from the gondola in Vail Village. That takes a load off of you for certain, its hard to enjoy happy hour while watching your skis. We had a great week in Vail this year and the American Ski Exchange was integral to the whole experience. Thanks ASE. read more

This is a great location to store your skis between visits to Vail. They're so close to the gondola that you can see it running from their front door. I've rented a locker here for two seasons now and couldn't be happier with their storage service or their staff. Had a very knowledgeable ski tech working on site that I have taken advantage of several times for tune ups. I've had several friends that were visiting town that used their rental gear and no complaints, they got them all fitted and set up the night before we were planning on riding so in the morning when we returned they were ready to go (reasonable rates too, especially for Vail!) and we got those fresh tracks in! I'll be renting here for the foreseeable future, feels so good to support family owned businesses up here! read more

Wow!! What a phenomenal store! From the moment I walked in I was warmly greeted by all the staff and was provided immediate service. The Higgins family and their employees are all one of a kind; they are genuine and have great expertise with skis and snowboards. The skis that were given to me were great and allowed me to have an enjoyable experience skiing down the slopes. Even more so, their prices are fairly reasonable compared to other ski stores, and the store is fully equipped with a variety of merchandise that one might need when skiing or snowboarding. Overall, the service is efficient, the employees are authentic and kind, and the equipment one receives is great! DEFINITELY rent here if you are looking to have a wonderful experience when visiting Vail! read more

We had to rent skis for my 11 year old son and Nolan was very helpful. Most of the rental shops at Vail offer a discount if you reserve your rental online. We had originally reserved a rental online at a different shop, in Lionshead Village, but the bus dropped us off in the main village, so we went to American Ski Exchange. After hearing my situation, Nolan agreed to give us their online reservation discount of 20 percent, which helped a lot. Some of us had forgotten to pack our ski poles with our skis, so Nolan threw in some extra poles with my son's ski rental package at no extra charge. Thank you Nolan! The shop also stores your rental skis overnight for you so you don't have to carry them back and forth on the bus, which is really nice. read more

This is our third consecutive year renting from American Ski Exchange. Their personalized customer service has always been incredible (especially with the manager, Jackson!), and have given us excellent advice on gear selection, helping us tailor our rentals to different skill levels and weather conditions. Their prices are extremely competitive, and they offer complimentary ski/pole storage overnight. The location can't be beat, either - the shop sits right in front of the main lift. The rental process is also quick, getting us on the mountain ASAP. The experience is always seamless, and we look forward to renting from them for years to come. read more

I was able to try powder skis, racing skis, and all mountain skis all in one trip for no additional charge. This is a true family owned and operated store. The owner of the shop works there everyday with his son, daughter, wife, and friendly black Labrador.
