I really like this Sally's location. Typically they have a very small space and so everything feels crowded and the aisles go up high. Makes the shopping experience feel cramped. I come here occasionally for hair and manicure items the grocery store doesn't stock, like a simple empty hair colorant applicator bottle, and decent tweezers and cuticle tools. Price comparisons vary on items grocery stores do stock. You don't have to have a beautician license of any kind to shop here, but you can't get items that require one here, either. The cashier seemed super friendly to everyone there that day, so they must have hired some new staff, judging from previous reviews. You can sign up for a membership free, according to the cashier. This gets you on the emailing list and perhaps a small discount, but I opted out that day, mainly because I don't go that often and I'm on enough emailing lists already. Evidently I left my hairbrush at home and forgot to pack it. I really like the inexpensive hair brushes they carry at Sally's so thank goodness they are a chain and I can buy one wherever I am. My daughter pulled up in front where there was no parking and let me run into the store quickly to pick one up to hold me for this trip. I swear this time I'm going to leave it in my suitcase so I don't have to remember it next time. The clerk was especially nice and pointed me to the group of hairbrushes. I can never remember if I buy the one with the five rows or the seven rows so I probably own both at home. She gave me a little information and then I just grabbed one up, paid for it and left. She remembered to ask me if I had a Sally's card but I don't have enough occasion to come in here and spend big bucks to feel like I really need one, especially since they expire in a year. But if I shopped in here a lot then it would be well worth buying one. It cost $5 but you get the $5 back on your next purchase if you hang on to the coupon they gave you so you really can't lose. Then you get discounts on various items over the course of the next year when you're shopping there. If I need anything else in the beauty category I will definitely come back to this Sally's to buy it. read more

Clean store, all products in stock, no empty shelf space. Great prices. The reason for the four star review is the customer service. You are greeting with a " hello" when you walk in, but afterwards I felt a bit dismissed by the employees. Not asking for someone to chat me up and carry on akward conversation, but every time I shop it feels like I'm almost bothering people for checking out. Maybe it's the overly chill south Austin vibe? Their hours today begin at 10am. Door wasn't open when I came in at 11am. One person came up with me and decided to drive away. I waited. Turns out only one person is scheduled to work, she went on a restroom break, locked the door, and didnt bother to put up a "brb" sign. She wouldn't accept my return without a receipt bc the products were opened. Sally's DOES accept those. I told her she's going against policy, and she responded the policy "doesn't specify." EXACTLY. because it's not against policy to return used product. She said she'd call customer service. She asked them if she could accept a return that was: not showing up in the customer purchase history. She didn't ask them about "used" product which was the reason she said she's rejecting my return. She said she'd never given anyone a store credit before for a used item without a receipt. I think I'm done with this store. A few months ago I ordered a needed item with 2 hour delivery. It never showed up and there was no way to get any information online. I called the store and they had no idea about anything. I finally drove there and was told that the third party delivery company cancelled the pick up. They couldn't explain why or how that could happen. Best part was that they were out of stock of the item I needed. Lots of wasted time. Today i spent 15-20 minutes shopping then another 15 minutes trying to pay the $39 for my items. None of their registers were working and they kept getting error messages. It wasn't me because they had issues with the person checking out before me. After trying all three registers they finally just said "sorry we can't check you out. I asked if there was anyway they could do it online or anyone they could call to give my cc number to. They said "sure, you can make your order online". Lame. You'd think they would maybe call a manager or something. My time is one of my most valued assets and it's maddening to have it wasted like that. I know...it's pointless to review a Sally. They're all the same right? Hah! That's what I thought. Look, I don't shop at Sally for their stellar customer service. I shop there because I'm a brokeass. Which works out well for them, since most of the heiffers manning Sally counters are about as smart as a box of hair, and not nearly as friendly. So when I popped in at this location I was totally shocked to overhear an employee advising a customer, at length, on various hair products. What kind of parallel universe was this? The most I'd ever gotten out of anyone in a Sally smock was a grunt and an elbow when I was in between them and some toe separators that needed stocking. To add to the whole bizarro world experience, when my boyfriend needed some help picking out a new beard trimmer the girl behind the counter was actuallly *gasp* helpful! I was stunned into silence as she knowledgeably explained the features of each of the various trimmers... from memory. So that's how it went down folks. Not that anyone really needs expert advise when picking out nail polish, but if you're about to do something wacky like try your first home perm, definitely try this location. read more

If you're reading reviews on Sally Beauty Supply, you should already know that you go to Sally for products you can't get anywhere else. The quality of service doesn't really make a difference in whether I shop there or not because they have the market kinda cornered (if you don't have a stylist's license). So, they had the thing I needed, but what I didn't need to is to walk in and hear "uuuugggghhhhhh I SO don't wanna be here today," from one of the employees. My little sister would be a vegan if it meant she could still eat cheese. So since she can't be a vegan, she's becoming a hippie with her hair, meaning she no longer believes in shampoo and washes it with vinegar and baking soda. So when I went home to visit her and my parents last weekend, I inherited all her hair products. This means it will be a while before I need to go to Sally's. I have been dying my hair since I was 15, with both good and bad experiences. Sally gave me the bleach to go blonde at home at 17 (a mistake) and conditioner to salvage what little bit of my hair remained after that. They always have what I need, and I appreciate the cheap clearance section (cos sometimes you just need some bedazzled eyelashes DUH). What I don't appreciate is the customer service... this location isn't friendly or unfriendly in particular, but my real problem is with sales associates giving advice on major hair processes. You are not a cosmetologist.. you simply sell the product. I really don't advise anyone to seek out advice from any Sally store as your ONLY source of advice. I will always drive the extra few miles to come to this location! Even though I came in close to closing time, the ladies here were super helpful and knowledgeable about their products! I usually come for my routine shampoo and conditioner, but my most recent visit was with a green haired girl, and another older lady who I'd presume to be the manager. This time I came in for root touch up spray, and they suggested coloring instead and walked me through step by step how to easily recolor my roots from home, and not have to wait on my stylist. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to get a quick update on your look and save some $$! read more

Whoever the taller, bigger girl with the black hair and dyed eyebrows was working tonight (12/28/20 at around 5:30pm) is, has such a stank attitude it's ridiculous! Interjecting in my conversation with another employee to let me know they didn't have something but in an extremely rude way. Basically saying it like the other employees should've known. She was being really rude to the other girl who was working, who was incredibly sweet and nice. She was just casting bad vibes everywhere, the only thing she had to say to anybody was something negative, short, and cold. She seemed annoyed at literally every single thing. As soon as I walked up to the counter, without saying anything to me, just looking at me, she walked away and called for the other really nice girl that was working to check me out. But then decided to check out another girl that had come up a few seconds after me.....like okay? Then when I was being checked out she was breathing down that other girls neck looking at my transaction on the screen and asking her questions about it. Just expecting something to be wrong so she can correct so Done yet again to try and feel some power I guess. If I had more time to write this I would get more detailed. I gotta say i usually like this location, the staff is usually very nice and attentive. But today i can't say that, i walked in didn't get greeted by the 1 and only employee that was standing near the door, she was helping a customer out so i can understand why she didn't knowledge me. I'll let that slid. But i was going to need help looking for the color i needed to dye my hair. So i waited patiently in that isle till she was done... but she just walked away, you'd think since I'm the only customer in the store you'd ask me if i need help but not this girl, everytime i go up to her she'd just take off the opposite direction. Finally i just yelled out what i was looking for and she said we don't have it, after she look me up and down never once said anything else but another look my way. That was so rude. Another customer comes in and very kindly walks up to her and asks if she needs help. The first thing that came to me was she's racist bc I'm Hispanic but then i thought maybe she thought little of me bc i was wearing basketball shorts and a t- shirt, i honestly don't know. But she was so rude and made me feel unwelcome. I didn't see a name tag on her, she had long black hair with tons of makeup on. I would have called her manager if i had her name. I spoke with Sarah, and she helped me pick the right color dye after a lot of waffling on colors I might choose, as well as developer, amount to buy, and didn't end up looking like a hot mess. Professional dye in the hands of an amateur can be a scary, scary thing, so the fact that the copper didn't make me look like my grandmother's pots, and rather like a ravishing redhead made my day! I stopped by this Sally's for the first time yesterday (1/14/2021). I did some research on at home wax options before going in but wanted some in person thoughts and to see different products in person vs Amazon. The staff was kind when I entered and greeted me at the door. I was asked if I needed any help which I did so Claire walked with me to the section I needed and answered all of my questions (there were a LOT). She was very helpful, knowledgeable on the products/recommendations (including safety recommendations), and overall made me feel very comfortable (which is extra difficult during COVID). This location is actually a little further than another but I chose it as it had the products I wanted to see in store available. Ill go to this location in the future as well because of Claire's amazing customer service. She went above and beyond. Thanks Claire!! read more

My first dissapointment with this store is in its lack of ethnic hair supplies. I have dreadlocks and all the other locations carry knicknacks and beads for dreads. There was no kind of hair jewelry at all. Next- they were out of the same 2 colors of EVERY brand. This is due to ignorance when ordering. It doesn't take a genius to order more of something that sells out often. The real reason I am writing is the service. Both sales ladies were EXTREMELY un helpful. The older lady, on the sales floor, was exceptionally rude and treated me with disrespect.She made no attempt to help me find what I needed. Then, The sales girl, at the register, would not accept my $100 bill for my 41$ purchase. When I asked her why I couldnt buy my items, she told me it was because she wouldnt have enough change for other customers. What about me? I am a customer. I can not believe, at Christmas, there was not 59$ in her register. A smart, customer service oriented, sales girl would have taken my money and given me my change- then dealt with the problem. A helpful sales girl would've asked her co worker for change. A smart and helpful sales girl would've put the customer first- Her solution was I was to put back my items, and leave- and come back when I had a lesser bill. There were 2 employees ( that I was aware of)at the Brodie Oaks Sally's in Austin Tx at 4pm on Dec.30th. Both need serious training in customer What kind of business tells a customer they can not spend money in their store? I was forced to use a debit card I carry only for emergencies. The people working here couldn't be LESS helpful!!!! I wanted to dye my own hair so I spent about 15 minutes in the store wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what all I needed to buy. Not a single person working there asked me if I needed any help. Finally, I went to the register and asked if they could point me in the direction of the L'oreal dye (someone had recommended that brand to me) and she just pointed to the back shelf without offering any additional information. This location has a little bit of everything from haircolor and styling products to make up and nail polish. It's honestly a perfect combination of everything you need in one place. I can't remember his name, but the staff member that helped me today was also extremely helpful and very friendly (talk make with blonde hair). I was having trouble deciding between two products to get the color I want and he gave some great recommendations. The prices are also very reasonable, and if you join their membership club, you get really decent rewards. I got about $7 off of my purchase today! read more

Probably the least favorite experiences I've ever had at a Sally's. And this last time helped me decide to never return to this location again. I walked in to a store full of patrons looking around. The two workers were unloading boxes in the middle row. One girl said, "hi what do you need?" Excuse me? So I told her I was looking for applicator brushes for dye. She pointed without saying a word. My KEYS hit a FLAP on one of the boxes she said, "hey watch the boxes". Wow. So I look and I am on the other side of The aisle she's in browsing, and the other girl starts complaining of how she had to open a few days prior and she hated it because she went out too late the night before. Like one, don't discuss that with patrons present, and two, maybe you should take work more seriously and not go out til 3 AM the night before? I make my way to the front to checkout and wait for a moment and a line forms behind me. The first girl asks, "are you ready?" Clearly me and everyone else is indeed ready. She says nothing more to me the entire transaction. No thank you. No have a nice day. No asking me for my number for beauty club or whatever. Just an all around crappy experience. Spend the gas to go to another one because these girls obviously don't care about their job or the people they're there to help ‍ read more

Never visiting this store location again. I recently had my hair dyed a dark brown with a red taint, and needed to go get my hair matched to some extensions as I have never had this hair color done before. I have plenty of experience with buying hair extensions online, as I know they are cheaper, but I didn't wanna risk purchasing a color that I wasn't sure I was yet. This was my first time visiting Sally's and I went because I was told that if anyone could match me, it would be someone there. I was spotted by someone immediately which I was grateful for, but she was extremely reluctant to help. She was very passive aggressive and rude, to say the least. The first thing she told me was "we don't have reds" in a very condescending way which evidently showed she probably hated the work I had done. Then she grabbed a dark brown color and quickly walked me over to the dyes that I would need to dye the extensions. When I took a second to think I asked how much the extensions would cost, to which she replied: 160-170's. I wasn't very shocked but it was definitely way above my price range! I have definitely purchased luxurious hair online from accredited sites for about 100 dollars considering I didn't want more than 70 grams, and 16" inch hair. She acted as if I had just asked for 20 dollar extensions! The minute I told her nervously that it was slightly over my price range, she looked up in the MOST disrespectful manner and said: "so.. you don't want them..?" almost as if I had offended her whole family's generation. The minute I said it was a little pricey she literally just left without a "well I hope you find what you are looking for" or "well I am here if you want to keep looking" or AT LEAST "have a good day" Mind you this whole encounter was less than 3 minutes and god forbid if I took any more of her precious time. This was my first experience at Sally's and hopefully the last. read more

Before two days ago, I had never set foot in a Sally's. I'm not a big DIY-er and my assumptions about it as a supply store for professionals or at least people who know what they're doing, gave me no reason to go there. However, since having my hair cut into a short pixie about a year ago, I had started taking my root touch ups into my own hands. I just couldn't justify $80 for coloring my one inch of hair from dark blonde to light blonde. I had previously been using your standard Feria drugstore box dye, but was unhappy with the brassiness I was getting and decided to try something different and headed to Sally's. I had no idea what I was looking for so I asked the first employee I came to (Emma) what I should get. I explained the issues I was having with the dye and she gave some suggestions and then asked another employee (Avery) for confirmation/input. They were both really helpful and explained why they one they were recommending was the best choice. Since I had no idea what to do without the step-by-step instructions from the box, they told me how to mix it and how long to let it develop. I then purchased a mixing bowl, brush and gloves as well and was on my way. And the result?! Perfectly blonde, non-brassy roots that match the ends. Perfection! read more

I went here for a job interview a while back and I must say when I walked in the ladies that were working there so rude and curt. They had NO sense of customer service whatsoever! No smiling, no greetings, and they kept laughing and making fun of customers that would call asking the same questions. So what if they are asking the same questions that is customer service for ya sweety. Either get over it and suck it up or find another job! I couldn't believe they have people like that working there. Then when it was time for closing one of the girls just came out of nowhere rushing everybody out of the store letting them know the store was closing but she was so rude about it. Ugh I am so GLAD I don't work there or even shop there. Funny thing is when I went on my second interview with another manager from Sally's she asked me what did I think about the customer service there and I flat out told her the truth and she agreed with me. Ok! I'm done! For me two times is the charm. First, experience with poor customer service was when I went to Sally's (S Lamar) to exchange hair color. When I walked in, there was no one waiting to check out, so I spoke with cashier (she had Bleached Blonde hair with Green and maybe some blue Streaks - BBGS) and told BBGS I needed to make an exchange; she said I could leave the items to be returned at the counter. In seconds I was back at the register with the correct product, which I placed in front of her in a stack and said "these are the ones I need" and handed BBGS my receipt for the exchange. She scanned all of the items in front of her. I assumed she was scanning some for purchase and others for return. When BBGS was done, she pushed the "to be returned" items towards me and said, "Here you go." I told BBGS those were the items I was returning and she said, "No. You're returning these", as she pointed to the items I had just brought to the counter. I calmly gestured to the product I walked in with and told BBGS, "No. I don't want these." BBGS, said, "No.You want these" as she pushed the "to be returned items" towards me again. That exchange went on for another round, so I reviewed the color names/numbers on the box with BBGS to prove I knew what I wanted - because that's what you should have to do - PROVE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO A TOTAL STRANGER WHO CAN'T PAY ATTENTION TO CUSTOMERS. My second experience with Sally's unacceptable customer service was last week. I went to Sally's to buy more of the same hair product and BBGS was there. She approached me, I asked a series of product questions, BBGS spoke to me in a very condescending way and then proceeded to go to a back room and talk with other staff about me. I was in the aisle where BBGS couldn't see me, but I could hear her. Still, I wanted the product, so I went to the register and waited for two minutes while BBGG was still talking about me/my hair color choices that BBGS made it clear she didn't agree with. (If you've been to this Sally's you know you can see the back employee room from the register - so I watched BBGS just talking...not working while I waited to check out). At two minutes, I drew the line, put the product back and left. I will NEVER go back to this Sally's Beauty because of this one person (BBGS) who should NEVER have a career or even short-term job in customer service. read more

Absolutely shocked about how rude the manager was here.. I was looking for hair dye and was asked if i needed assistance. I wanted to go lighter and asked which hair dye brands were strong and effective, the "manager" took a look at my hair and described it as "splotty" and said that i would need help dyeing it next time, implying that my hair did not look good. I was shocked at how rude she was being, and she just kept making unnecessary comments.. i left the store and decided to call back asking for the manager and was VERY shocked to have found out that she was the manager. I tried filing a customer complaint form because of her ridiculous behavior, and said that i would forget about it if she would just simply apologize. she admitted that she was the one helping me, refused to apologize, made more rude comments about my hair, saying that she was just "trying to help me fix it".. after we cussed each other out, i hung up because i knew that she would not apologize, and that it was just a waste of my time. I DOUBT my customer complaint form went through, it probably ended up in the garbage.
