The environment of recruiting and job searching, in my opinion, is a time when you need clarity, even when the answer is not desired. Here was my experience with West Coast Careers: -Contact #1 - Sent in application, and there was no response. -Contact #2 - I called directly to follow up and was told that they would assign someone directly to me who would get back to me if they there was a fit. I asked "so if it is not a fit, I will hear nothing?". They then said that they would contact me either way. -Contact #3 - Called again, and was told that that they had me on file and there was not a fit at this time. I asked directly "Is it a no?" They said that my experience does not fit what they are looking for, so it is a no. My expectation was clarity either way. I need a recruiter who is willing to communicate positive and negative decisions clearly. With me, negative communication was avoided. read more

To give some background to people, I wanted to wait over a month into my new job before I wrote my recruiter a review. I feel that would allow me to be more accurate compared to writing one right when they helped me get a job. The process with SalesFirst was reasonable and fast. They had me come in for a meeting, gave me some interview prep, and started to get me interviews fairly quickly. Update: OK, I think it would only be fair to update this review based on my recent experience with the company. The owner called me and expressed his concern. We've talked a couple of times. He's introduced me to a couple of other recruiting companies and also set me up with a different person at his firm. Although we don't have any leads at this point for a job, I do believe that they care about their clients, which is not the impression I had when I wrote the original review. Based on him reaching out to me and experience with the new person that I'm working with, I have updated my rating. Very disappointed : ( I had high hopes for this firm, based on the professional and upbeat impression I got from them after I applied for a job on their site. However, after talking with the recruiter about a specific job, he asked me to come in for a 'interview' where he basically said "OK, check out the jobs on our site and let me know what you are interested in." I reminded him that I was there for the job we discussed and we talked about getting some letters of recommendation for some skills that were not highlighted on my resume'. I got the letters right away and sent them in. He never even acknowledged he got them. I called and asked him about it and he said that he would put me forward as a candidate 'right away' and get back to me. He never got back to me. After not returning emails and not following up I just got the impression that they didn't want me as a client. read more

To my surprise, a recruiter contacted me within several business days and told me they wanted to represent me. They invited me into the office to get some more information and I met with Julia Henry. Having never been through a traditional recruiting firm before, Julia made the process easy and seamless which is just what I needed having been through a gruesome job search. She presented me with several businesses she thought I could work at and then sent me on interviewers with exceptional preparation. She gave me great interview questions and made sure I was sufficiently prepared to answer them with poise and confidence. Once I was sent out on the interviews, Julia frequently checked in with me to ensure everything went smoothly. After three months, I landed an incredible opportunity and accepted the role.
