We grabbed a dessert to justify taking up table space and wound up being totally blown away! We selected the speculas merengue cake, which was super sweet but a textural and flavor explosion in your mouth. They had a bunch of healthy salads and grain bowls for less than $5, tons of beautiful baked goods -- both savory and sweet -- and a nice selection of soups and everything seemed super well priced. Next time we're in Brugge we're going to plan to have a full meal here.

We ordered espresso and tea, which came with a miniature sized dessert that was very good. We were too hungry and didn't take pics of the food. Hubby ordered the Croque monsieur, which he said was very good. Kids ordered the Belgium waffle with strawberries. The waffle was nicely crispy, and still light and airy. Kids ate it all. I had the warm goat cheese and bacon salad. It was very good. Sweetness of the corn balanced out the creaminess of the cheese and the saltiness of the bacon. Desserts looked amazing, I wanted to try them all. My son decided to choose the fruit tart to share and it was delicious. Lots of fruits and with creamy center and crunchy shortbread crust.

We walked over and into a cornucopia of pastries. I had never seen a display like this before. I told them that we do nit have a reservation and wold like to have a light breakfast, after a 30 second wait they brought us to a lovely table in the back. A truly delightful setting. We ordered light as I do not enjoy 'bulking up' in the morning when I know that I will be doing a lot of walking and exploring. A pastry each and some coffee was our meal. I was a little disappointed that I didn't order more after seeing some of the breakfasts they were serving. Everything just looked so good. Our waitress was lovely and took very good care of us despite us having a very small breakfast. She was extremely appreciative of the tip we left. This place is a definite stop if when we return to Bruges and we will return to Bruges. KUDOs to the team at Carpe Diem.

We called place after place only to find that they were booked, about to close, or not open at all. After stopping by De Stove (in the off chance that they might have a cancellation) we see a cute Italian place across the street. By some miracle they have one table open, and it's outside! Our server was extremely helpful and attentive. I started with the prosciutto, feta, tomato and fig salad. It was fresh and tasty. For my main I had the catch of the day which was seabass. It came in a nice butter sauce and was served with a variety of cooked vegetables. It was surprisingly delicious. To finish I had the tiramisu which wasn't anything out of this world but it was moist and flavourful. We enjoyed our food, really liked our wine, and thought the service was excellent. Worth the stop!

We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 6:15pm) and got lucky calling for reservations the day of. Highly recommend making reservations as we saw the staff reject multiple walk-ins. The service was respectable but sadly, there's no tap water available. The menu consists of starters, fish, meat and a "tourist menu" (aka. three course set menu). - Gueuze (€4,00) - a quaffable, enjoyable lambic beer. Got a hint of a fruity note (apparently grapefruit). - Brugs tarwe (wheat beer) (€4,00) - Flemish beef stew (€18,50) - our buddy enjoyed this dish. - 3x Tourist menu (€18,50) - this is the best bang for your buck as you get a soup of the day (tomato), meat with fries and salad (option of steak, half a chicken, pork chop or salmon) and dessert (vanilla ice cream, sorbet (ask if you're lactose intolerant) or profiteroles). We went with the steak, pork chop and salmon. Oddly, they didn't ask for our steak preference. It was cooked medium and was slightly overcooked. Pork chop was worse; dry and bland. Our friend liked her salmon. Fries were standard fare. Salad was overdressed and you barely get a handful. The best thing was the tomato soup which had good depth and came with bread. The vanilla ice cream wasn't memorable but the profiteroles with chocolate sauce were better. Nothing that will blow you away but okay. One of the cheaper table d'hotes we found but the food was hit and miss. Would I come back? I don't think so.
