I have eaten here for both lunch and dinner. The food has been very consistent each time I have visited. I do prefer the lunch menu over the dinner menu because prices double for dinner for the same food. I have only eaten from the hibachi grill but will be trying the sushi soon. read more

Being originally from Seguin I didn't expect much from the sushi here. I WAS WRONG! I had the Kirin roll. It was fabulous! Sauce was not overwhelming, fish was very fresh and it had just the right amount of heat. They have a limited by decent wine selection for someone like me. I had a glass of Oyster Bay savignon blanc that was just fine. I will be back with my family. We all love sushi and this place definitely measures up, especially considering it's only a half hour from Gonzales! read more

Sakura is a hidden gem! Tucked into an unassuming shopping center across from the heb in Seguin, Sakura is a wonderful find for sushi and Japanese food. We had the Gyoza, Miso soup, and several different rolls including Crazy Love, Texas Roll, etc. Fresh and delicious. Big city food in a small town! Great food and great service! If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. This was my second time here. I figured since it had just opened I would give it another try. Boy was I WRONG!!! I went there today with my husband and 3 year old. I ordered the hibachi lunch which was soup, salad, then I got brought a plate of steak, chicken, mixed veggies and fried rice. My husband ordered the same only with filet and shrimp. We also split a order of vegetable noodles. Well to start our salad was not good. They must have not let the excess water off the lettuce so it was a watery mess and the dressing barely had taste. We didn't finish it. The soup was gross. Absolutely gross and it wasn't even that bad the first time. It had a horrible after taste and neither of us even ate a quarter of it. Next was the noodles. We were told by the waiter it was something it wasn't. We didn't know we were getting these huge noodles but that's okay because it was a misunderstanding. The fact that they had no flavor at all was not our fault. We clearly told the waiter we didn't know it was that kind of noodle and told him we didn't like it at all. He said nothing at all. Ok now was our main meal. Wish I had something better to say but NOPE. The rice was alright but let's be honest... It was plain fried rice. Nothing special about it for sure. The vegetables consisted of mushrooms, carrots and broccoli and all were barely cooked and had ZERO seasoning on them! Except for the mushy zucchini. We didn't eat them at all. And then there was the MEAT!! I asked for mine to be medium and my husband asked for medium-rare. BOTH were severely OVERCOOKED.. Now I asked for just steak and he paid way more to have filet and they were both exactly the same. They were both overcooked, chewy and had so much fat on them. So it was clear they never gave my husband filet in the first place which is totally messed up. The chicken was cooked well but once again had ZERO flavor. The shrimp were without a doubt overcooked and tasted bad. NONE of our food had flavor at all. Our waiter had no personality at all unlike the last waiter we had there. He seemed to care less that we didn't eat our food. It honestly seems like they put NO effort into making our food and I think it's extremely unprofessional to not give my husband filet like he asked for. But in this place they don't cook in front of you so you really have no clue how they are preparing your food. I had really high expectations for this place and this visit killed that. After we said we didn't want to eat this food and we just wanted to leave I was expecting to have at least something taken off the check. NOPE. Not one dollar taken off. They charged us for the filet we didn't get and every other thing. Noodles were $9 alone. We had to pay extra for the soup as well. We paid $51 for this??? The waiter clearly saw my frustration and said and did nothing. There was a woman there that I believe to be the manager and all she did the whole time was play on her cell phone at the front of the restaurant. I expressed our situation to her as well and she did and said nothing!!!! How does this woman have a job?? How can you take my card and charge me all that money for a trash meal?? Well needless to say I wasn't very nice when I left but I did leave because I didn't want to make a scene in front of my 3 year old. I came home and I just couldn't believe that I literally just lost $51 for NOTHING. I left upset, angry and starving. My husband actually said his stomach hurt after leaving. I just couldn't shake the feelings I was having so I called. First I talked to a young lady who was very nice. She put me on with the "manager" who had just walked back in. I explained how frustrated I was and she had the nerve to say well you never said anything.. What????? I said stuff multiple times!! Over and over and got nothing. I started losing my temper a bit and she said just come in here and I will give you a full refund. I said okay. She said can you come today? I said yes. A couple hours go by and I send my husband there to get a refund like she told me... He calls me and tells me she never said that and she is only going to give me a $20 check.. What???? Now they are lying to me?? This is insane. But I couldn't be there. She was adamant about NOT giving us a full refund (all the food went in the trash there!) I then told my husband to tell this "manager" I will be calling the Better Business Bureau and will dispute the charges. She finally said whatever I'll refund you. I have never been so unhappy with a entire experience at a restaurant. Food=terrible Service=terrible =Professionalism=terrible. I was so excited for this place to be in the town I lived in and I have heard rave reviews of the actual hibachi Sakura in New Braunfels. But this one is going to be closed before their first year if this is the kind of service and food they are offering. I will never walk through these doors again!!!!!!! read more

Awesome!!! Great service, management makes sure you have a perfect experience. My order was actually messed up, I didn't complain because either way...I was eating sushi. Manager came and told me they mixed up my order and she brought out my actual order in addition to what I already had. The Superman roll is awesome and so is the fried rice! This is a lovely restaurant, with great food. Right here in Seguin! They've done an excellent job on the decor, and the sushi did not disappoint. We ordered 4 rolls, which were so generous that we had to get to-go boxes for leftovers. The fish and all of the ingredients were so fresh! We split the following: a Texas roll and a Tiger roll (both raw), plus an Explorer roll and a Crazy Dragon roll (both cooked). I love anything with eel and roe, and the Crazy Dragon has a whole bbq eel on it! Yum!. Hubby also got some kind of scallops and pronounced them good. I'd rank this restaurant right up there with similar restaurants we've enjoyed in Austin and San Antonio. Another reviewer stated that HEB sushi might be better - I don't know what he's ordering at HEB, but the sushi I had at Sakura has HEB beat hands-down at a walk.
