We used to come every week . Always had a very nice waitress. Were leaving more than 20 % tips. But today I had the worst experience ever . My boyfriend called to place order to go and I was supposed to pick it up. The girl on the phone didn't understand what he was asking and messed up with order. When I came to pick it up I saw three items on the bill which we didn't order. I told her that and she started to scream at me and told me to never come back . I was very disappointed by the way how she talked to me . She was yelling !!! I never talk to people like that , never scream or being rude to servers . I was shocked. I told her that I have a right to check what's on my bill and I will pay for items that we didn't order to calm her down. The whole restaurant was looking at me like I did something terrible. I came back home very upset . My boyfriend called them and asked for manager to find out that she was a manager. He was very nice and said that it was miscommunication between him and her on the phone, she didn't have to talk to me like that and asked her to apologize to solve the conflict. I don't usually write reviews but our experience at this place last night was pretty awful. We have brought our grandchildren and friends with us on many occasions because it is usually a fun experience. So we have been going to this place for the Hibachi on a pretty regular basis. We met another couple there last night. We had reservations so when we walked in we gave the hostess our name and told her we would wait at the bar for the rest of our party. The rest of our party was already at the bar so we waited for them to come get us and seat us at a table. When we were shown to our table a very angry (I believe the Hostess) began wrapping her fingernails on the Hibachi table and proceeded to scold us about how reservations work in their establishment in a shrill and loud voice. We walked away from the Hibachi table and prepared to leave. Thank goodness for Jessica (our favorite server) who came over to us and asked us to stay. We sat in a booth and Jessica took great care of us. We would also like to thank the bartender Steven who was equally kind to us. If the owners of this restaurant want return business they need to get rid of this Hostess. She is rude, nasty and very loud about it in front of customers. Don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. The experience totally ruined our evening. read more

I was extremely hopeful to hear that a Japanese Hibachi restaurant had opened within easy driving distance to our home but things went downhill fast once we were seated. I've been to many restaurants like this but NEVER have so many customers been crammed into so little space. The 3 parties sitting around our grill were literally ELBOW TO ELBOW (2-3 inches separated my plate from that of the stranger next to me). The hostess actually scolded us for spreading out a tiny bit even though the other half of the table was empty (and remained empty). There was also a SERIOUS COLD DRAFT coming out of the grill vent and most of the people around me were freezing. Okay, on to the food. The soup was thin, the salad and ginger dressing nothing special. I ordered steak & shrimp. In a nutshell, the food was UNDER-SEASONED to a degree I've never experienced in a Japanese steakhouse before. No (or very) little garlic, no sesame seeds, no bean sprouts, thin tasteless soy sauce, not enough veggies (beside an enormous mound of tasteless zucchini). The result: It's not that the food tasted badly, it's that THE FOOD WAS EXTREMELY BLAND. In conclusion: I wanted to like Sakura (and it was only one meal) but in my opinion there are some serious issues here that the owners of Sakura need to address - and they start with FLAVOR. read more

When we arrived you could already feel the rush was on. We were 10 people yet they seemed not to care. We were trying to get seated and they were pushing to get your order. The food was very good and the chef made a decent presentation but then if you have seen one; seen them all. When dinner was done, they never asked if anyone wanted dessert, they were already bring check yet some were still eating. Wait is way too long for the hibachi, they waited until they had 10 people to start. On top of that The chef cooks for two different tables at the same time, so of course it takes him doble the time to finish. I was there with two toddlers, I do not recommend it unless you are no hungry and you don't mind waiting an hour for your food. read more

Been here in the past had a great show at the hibachi the food was great. Tonight the show was short and lacked the luster I'm used to. It was two people's birthdays at the table and it really didn't play into the performance. The portion sizes were small and my fried rice was simply white rice with soy sauce and cold. I love food. Everywhere i go i try out all the restaurants. I work 4 days a week, on my off days i would go out and eat all day. Ive been there about two times when it just opened. The food there was ok good, but expensive. I'm a food manager at a restaurant in calverton. There is a link that food managers can check, any restaurant. Posted by the health department only the high risk items are posted there. They had over 14 high risk items posted, and was shut down by the health department once. Every time before I go to a restaurant I look at how many high risk items they have. The hostess has some temper and bad manners. Overall the food was OK but the hostess needs to learn better manners. read more

Went here with my wife had the hibachi. Chatted with a lively group of people and had Some interesting conversation. The chef prepared the meal in front of us was quite entertaining. I have been going to this place for many years. I liked The food although the service at times was a little sloppy. I attempted to place an order for the following day, however the person on the phone, female told me that they were busy and that pretty much she was not taking my order. When I finally told her that I need to place your order because it is a large order, I told her that I have a severe allergy to gluten and I needed a gluten free soy sauce and no crunch, she became annoyed with me and told me that there was no gluten-free sauce that they had. That was completely untrue because I have had many times. When I confronted her with that, then she said she's going to charge me extra for the gluten-free sauce which once again that was never the case which I told her. At that point she hung up on me. I called back again and dressing that she hung up on me even though I was not nasty and once again she said she's too busy to take the order I hung up on me again. Let me add that I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I'm not sure if Mr. Jimmy Lin finds it acceptable for his staff/manager to be rude to the customers that spend a few thousand dollars a year and sushi. I ordered from Midori which is completely far away for me but much more superior this thus place and the customer service is so much nicer. Went for the hibachi at the request of my seven year old on her birthday. The service was bad, ignoring us as much as they could. We left both hungry and thirsty after spending $150, small portions. We have had better family entertainment watching the girl prepare my sandwich at Subway. My birthday girl asked,"why were they so bad?", poor exuse for hibachi, Then they had the nerve to charge 20% gratuity for that "service". I eat here or get take out about 2 times per month. The prices are good and sushi is pretty good. I had hibachi once when they first opened.. it was the best hibachi food i had but the servers needed a bit more practice. As stated previously the waitresses are not overly friendly and can come off rude but we know that going it so we dont let it bother us. We often have to tell them several times we need a few more minutes before ordering but i would rather that then having to wait! read more

While the experience is fun, watch your bill!! They will try to charge you dinner prices at lunchtime and charge you adult prices for children- and then tell you it's your fault for not telling your waitress that you want children's prices. Really??!! And then pull the "We don't understand your English" card!! I will definitely be looking elsewhere for a Habachi restaurant. read more

Awesome Japanese food . Takeout is done right , from hibachi to sushi . Very tasty and always ready quickly . Place is addicting :)
