I had the chicken and steak, and part of a sushi roll. Like clockwork, I almost didn't make it home with my belly, rumbling and grumbling before I made it to the toilet. After speaking with others in our party, it had the same effect on them. As with most rednecks, I'm simply amazed at the Hispanic cook, who dazzles you with the egg, spinning trick, the salt and pepper shaker sparks, and of course, you can't leave out the VOLCANO!!!! When you leave Asahi, you will also have the amazing ability to perform some tricks of your own; such as: "pooping through a screen door". This place is full of every "Bubba", Mee-maw, and Pee-paw, from Whiteville, all the way to Bradford. The only thing that could be more mesmerizing is the clear icee machine at the local convenience store. Think I'll sit it out for a while when it comes to Asahi.

Rolls were good, and seemed to be fresh. Salad was awesome, soup good if your a soup person. Just bot something I like. Had steak and Shrimp, flavor was decent, Steak a little over done for Medium, the Shrimp was good, the Veggies also good. The Yum Yum sauce almost gave this a 4 just by itself. Place is a solid 3.5, but we all know Yelp won't let us do half stars.

Honestly some of the best tonkatsu pork I've ever had and portion was large and I could only eat half and took rest home. The meal came with a salad, slice cucumbers in vinaigrette, cabbage slaw and some fried tempura vegetables. Definitely rivals other Japanese establishments I've ate at in Honolulu and Chicago.... and it's in Jackson ,TN ?... wow. If I'm ever passing through here again, I'll be back.

During our time, the only minor frustration was that they didn't have fries available for our 2 year old son's order(I know, we are actively working to widen his pallet, but at a sushi restaurant that's a big ask lol), but he still enjoyed his chicken nuggets. The true disappointment was getting home that evening and beginning a 24-hour stent of food poisoning. At first, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe I had overeaten since we grabbed desert somewhere after, but I was the only one who had gotten sick, and I didn't share my Jam Sesh roll with anyone else. My true hope is that this was just a one-time occurrence because the staff was truly kind, but food poisoning is never a good time!
