I advised people not to eat at No 1 Chinese, they do not wear gloves when fixing your food. I were waiting on my order and notice bald headed guy was not wearing any gloves, he pick up hand full noodles with his bare hand and tossed in a pan. The young lady at register were very rude and didn't want give me my money back when I told her that bald headed man was not wearing any gloves while fixing food. I will call the health department let them know that this restaurant is not wearing the appropriate safety materials when handling food. read more

Decided to pick up Chinese. In the past No1 Chinese was my go-to Chinese in the area. A few years ago they changed owners and I was not impressed with the food. With the above in mind, I was hesitant to go because for COVID-19 they built a strange pickup/order window. Well to my surprise, they had redesigned the inside to where you can go in order and pick up. On the menu, I saw the old standbys to order like Shrimp Fried Rice, and I ordered it. As I was looking, I noticed a Singapore Mei Fun noodles with chicken and shrimp. I have not seen this dish in the Jackson area. It is a great dish that included curry to spice it up. It was great! My wife said it smells real good, but did not try it. She was hesitant due to the spiciness. Ok, here is what to know: There is no eat-in area. The prices are much higher than most of the other restaurants. The order and pickup system is still confusing. You are separated by plexiglass and speaking into s mic. This increases the language problem. There is no place to sit and wait. Distancing is up to the customers. Masks are required. in addition to the separation, the workers do not speak or understand English or southern dialect, so be patient. They are slow preparing. I suggest calling the order and then go to pick it up. read more

We ordered Singapore Noodles, which they make very well, and pork Egg Foo Young, which I like because they put in a decent amount of onions and the gravy is good. The noodles were not as spicy as I requested, but OK. The Egg Foo Young seemed nice at the beginning, but the second bite announced that something was off. One more bite screamed rotten eggs. I had to throw the entire egg dish away. I didn't feel like taking it back, I had read they are hard to deal with, and I imagine they use that to their advantage. I have gone there over the years because Asia Gardens has flatly refused to add Singapore Noodles to their menu, and Jian Jang is 10 miles from here. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. read more

This was not a good experience. Could not locate meat in the egg roll. The egg foo young and triple delight were very bland. No flavor at all. The rice was very sticky. The chicken had a strange texture and was cut nearly paper thin. The egg foo young was mostly onions. However, the gravy was good. This used to be my no. 1 pick for take out food and after not being there for awhile, I was pretty amped about getting some food there. I was therefore floored when I walked in the door and saw what amounted to a chicken coop. They have made a cave-like place to walk into that is separated from "them" by plywood. All communication is via a poor-quality speaker and you have to slide your payment in on a tray and they quickly put your food out to you through a "coop" door. What a comedown! It is dark, dank, and dismal in there. The posters that were on the walls at the beginning of "covid" are still there, and the new wood dividers dissect them. It looks like the area has not been cleaned since the start of covid either. I checked and they got a health inspection score in the high nineties, so perhaps the kitchen is ok. Perhaps. Makes me wonder how reliable health department inspections in Jackson are. They don't put any condiments AT ALL in the sack. You have to dig around in that dark dismal place to find what you need on a side shelf. No fortune cookies for customers, so there! We did eat the food and it was still tasty, but I cannot ever see myself going there ever again. Things are dismal enough in Jackson without going to a depressing place like that. read more

Horrible customer service. Cindy is very rude to customers. I called to place order for pick up. Before I could finish asking my questions she says 15mins hangs up and does not say thank you or bye. I walked in to pick up my order I ask was she the young lady that took the order she said yes. I kinda figured because only two people were there the other being a young man. She gave me the total. I asked her about sauces she asked if I wanted more I said please and how much is it? She stated .87 I gave her my card after which she laid the receipt on the counter for me to sign. I handed the receipt to her and she placed mine in the counter. When I walk into ANY business establishment I expect great customer service. Especially when I am being very polite and kind to you. I had to ask for my extra sauce to be put in a bag as she tried to put in the same bag with everything else as sauce was dripping down the side. Instead of me being ugly in front of the customers that were there. I called and asked to speak with the owner of course Cindy answers and states she is the owner. I informed her how rude she was and her customer service needs to be evaluated. She told me she was not rude and hung up in my face. No.1 Chinese is big fat ZERO the food was good but customer service goes along with everything. Not very good. The food is poor quality and very greasy. I've tried this place a few times, because it's close to my house and didn't know where else to go (new to town). The last time I ate there the lo mien was burnt and I took it back and told them and they didn't even try to correct the problem. Lucky, I found a better Chinese place, Panda Garden. I love this restaurant. They're fast and I've never gotten anything I didn't enjoy. General Tso's chicken is my favorite, and I can usually pick my food up within ten to fifteen minutes. I try to pay cash since I know card companies charge small businesses an arm and a leg to process credit cards. For the last 12 years this has been the best restaurant! However in December they sold out and the new people use cheaper ingredients smaller containers and the food is not nearly as good I gave them several tries and the last three times I have gotten severe diarrhea. I wish the original owners would come back because they really knew how to serve the public and please people. The new people are very rude and speak in Chinese in front of you and mock you.
