    Ramen

I really enjoyed the ramen here. The broth was a chicken base with veggies and rice noodles. The sushi rolls were even better. I think the restaurant is very clean. The service was good. For being such a small restaurant I think they lived up to their previous ratings. I would come back here.

Overall the food was surprisingly good! Not exactly authentic but still good! 4.5/5 The Spicy Chicken was listed as both "Teppan Yaki" and "Korean Food" but honestly tastes like Chinese food. Still great though! Came out on a sizzling plate with a small side of rice. 5/5 Agedashi tofu was lightly fried and the skin stayed with the tofu (didn't fall off and didn't make the tofu too difficult to cut). Seemed to be served with tempura sauce? Unique but good 4/5 Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna had great texture but was missing something - would've been improved with eel sauce or another sauce. Instead, it was served with what seemed to be watered down soy sauce. 3/5 Garlic Tuna Roll. Had fried, crispy garlic and fresh garlic mush. Too much garlic mush soaked the rice and made the roll too soft 4.5/5 Crunch Roll smelled and tasted amazing!! It was different than normal crunch rolls but great! 5/5 sexy spicy salmon crunch roll (not pictured) was amazingly fresh and so so good (and I'm not normally a salmon person)! My favorite dish of the night!! Service was good for the most part! Our servers were mostly attentive although it took a couple asks for get a second pair of chopsticks for the two of us.

Came across this hidden gem by accident after trying to find parking for another restaurant, and we are glad we did. Sakura Ojai is located on Matilija just one block off E. Ojai (Hwy. 150). The atmosphere of this charming restaurant is very comfortable. There are a number of tables for both small and larger groups along with some seating directly at the sushi bar. The service was very friendly & efficient. There is a TV on, but they had the sound turned down that helped to keep the atmosphere tranquil and conducive to enjoying the dining experience. They offer Japanese and Korean fare. The menu has an excellent selection of over 20+ appetizers, numerous salad options, along with fresh, tempura, vegetable, baked, & regular rolls. Also, Sushi Bar Special Entrees with individual sushi and sashimi options, along with soups & ramen. Korean options include bibimbap, bulgogi, and teriyaki. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. This seating our selections included: Cherry Blossom - tuna, salmon, albacore, escolar, crabmeat, avocado and wrapped in cucumber - no rice. It was beautifully presented and exceptionally flavorful. Tuna tower - spicy crab, spicy tuna, topped with Ahi tuna, masago, avocado, & crunch, on a bed of crabmeat - no rice. This dish is amazing eye candy, as well as an explosion on the taste buds. It was almost too beautiful to consume. Absolutely delicious. Dancing Shrimp - shrimp tempura and crabmeat, covered with a cream sauce and baked, topped with sesame seeds. The creamy texture of the baked combination melted in our mouths. And, Spider Man - deep fried soft shell crab with teriyaki sauce; beautifully presented on the plate drizzled with a sauce to resemble ocean waves. Absolutely delicious. All the dishes were very delectable, and created by a very skilled chef(s) with a beautiful artistic flair. Even after finishing the four dishes we wanted to try more, but were so full. It was impossible to try everything on the menu. We will be back to do so as they offer an amazing number of cuisine options.

As wonderful to eat as it looks!

First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. You can get quality dishes in a casual in-and-out setting. We will be back for sure!

The bibimbap was very standard -- nothing special or memorable about it. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers.

Arrived around 7pm on a Sunday and were super silly and didn't put in a reservation beforehand, so we had to wait about 30-40 minutes before securing a table (pro tip: GET A RESERVATION! Sunday night is family night, so it will be tough just being able to simply walk in without a wait). After a beer at another location, we got the glorious text from Gen saying our table was ready, so we scrambled to get back ~30minutes later. We were seated and were met with Arvin, our incredible server. Since we all have been there, he didnt have to go through the rigamarole of telling us how to our nght would go, so we got to orderin! First off, the menu is HUUUUUUUUGE. There are so many options to choose from and we got so many things. My personal favorites were: Kimchi fried rice w/ Cheese - so flavorful with a little bit of kick (i love the spicy) Corn Cheese - because of course Spicy Pork bulgolgi - Again Spicy Honey spicy bulgolgi - This surprised me at how much i liked this. So good They even serve my favorite sake here (Kikusui) which was excellent! Great night over at Gen! Arvin, our server was amaxing, gave us lots of recommendations and treated us really well. We ordered from the regular menu. The brisket seemed leaner than I remember and didn't taste as high quality as it used to. The pork belly was cut way too thick, I prefer thinner slices so you can get a better char and crisp texture. The galbi marinade also felt a little off this time, slightly too sweet and missing that smoky charred flavor. That said, the service was above average and surprisingly quick despite how busy it was. Honestly, one of the main reasons I still come here is because there aren't many KBBQ options in Ventura County unless you're willing to drive out farther.

I ordered the Jajangmyeon noodle dish at the register and took a seat. It came with a dish of yellow radish. The Jajangmyeon had julienned cucumber on top. The sauce for this dish is supposed to be thick. Unfortunately, I was served a version that was very thin and oily. The sauce had tiny pieces of diced overcooked pork and a just a small pieces of zucchini. Other than that the rest was slices of blackened onions. The cost was also expensive at $15.95 before tax. This was the most I have ever paid for this dish and the quality was inferior and there wasn't enough veggies in the sauce. Between the pork and zucchini, I estimate it was less than a 1/4 cup. So essentially the dish was mainly noodles in with a sauce filled with onions.
