The sushi rolls here are beautiful, fresh, and clean eating. They have such a big menu with lots of special rolls and some great Korean food options. It was great to come here on a hot summer evening to sit in the AC and enjoy the clean and quiet ambiance. The service was attentive and pleasant. The sushi chefs were smiling and appreciative. The prices are typical. This is a solid spot for sushi in Ojai.

I really enjoyed the ramen here. The broth was a chicken base with veggies and rice noodles. The sushi rolls were even better. I think the restaurant is very clean. The service was good. For being such a small restaurant I think they lived up to their previous ratings. I would come back here.

Overall the food was surprisingly good! Not exactly authentic but still good! 4.5/5 The Spicy Chicken was listed as both "Teppan Yaki" and "Korean Food" but honestly tastes like Chinese food. Still great though! Came out on a sizzling plate with a small side of rice. 5/5 Agedashi tofu was lightly fried and the skin stayed with the tofu (didn't fall off and didn't make the tofu too difficult to cut). Seemed to be served with tempura sauce? Unique but good 4/5 Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna had great texture but was missing something - would've been improved with eel sauce or another sauce. Instead, it was served with what seemed to be watered down soy sauce. 3/5 Garlic Tuna Roll. Had fried, crispy garlic and fresh garlic mush. Too much garlic mush soaked the rice and made the roll too soft 4.5/5 Crunch Roll smelled and tasted amazing!! It was different than normal crunch rolls but great! 5/5 sexy spicy salmon crunch roll (not pictured) was amazingly fresh and so so good (and I'm not normally a salmon person)! My favorite dish of the night!! Service was good for the most part! Our servers were mostly attentive although it took a couple asks for get a second pair of chopsticks for the two of us.

Tuna Tower - spicy crab, crabmeat, spicy tuna, topped with tuna, masago, avocado and crunch.

Came across this hidden gem by accident after trying to find parking for another restaurant, and we are glad we did. Sakura Ojai is located on Matilija just one block off E. Ojai (Hwy. 150). The atmosphere of this charming restaurant is very comfortable. There are a number of tables for both small and larger groups along with some seating directly at the sushi bar. The service was very friendly & efficient. There is a TV on, but they had the sound turned down that helped to keep the atmosphere tranquil and conducive to enjoying the dining experience. They offer Japanese and Korean fare. The menu has an excellent selection of over 20+ appetizers, numerous salad options, along with fresh, tempura, vegetable, baked, & regular rolls. Also, Sushi Bar Special Entrees with individual sushi and sashimi options, along with soups & ramen. Korean options include bibimbap, bulgogi, and teriyaki. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. This seating our selections included: Cherry Blossom - tuna, salmon, albacore, escolar, crabmeat, avocado and wrapped in cucumber - no rice. It was beautifully presented and exceptionally flavorful. Tuna tower - spicy crab, spicy tuna, topped with Ahi tuna, masago, avocado, & crunch, on a bed of crabmeat - no rice. This dish is amazing eye candy, as well as an explosion on the taste buds. It was almost too beautiful to consume. Absolutely delicious. Dancing Shrimp - shrimp tempura and crabmeat, covered with a cream sauce and baked, topped with sesame seeds. The creamy texture of the baked combination melted in our mouths. And, Spider Man - deep fried soft shell crab with teriyaki sauce; beautifully presented on the plate drizzled with a sauce to resemble ocean waves. Absolutely delicious. All the dishes were very delectable, and created by a very skilled chef(s) with a beautiful artistic flair. Even after finishing the four dishes we wanted to try more, but were so full. It was impossible to try everything on the menu. We will be back to do so as they offer an amazing number of cuisine options.

As wonderful to eat as it looks!

My girlfriend and were instantly impressed with each item we ordered. The pork belly skewers and Ceviche came out first which was stark contrast between the steamy chewy tendy pork and the zesty rich ceviche with a lovely serving of crunchy red onion, cucumber, and a lovely mix of seafood. Also the cut rolls were premier. Quality of mint, fish, and cucumber and wasabi were all 10/10. If remi from ratatouille was Japanese, I would have thought he'd been in the chef's hat as he was preparing our food. The dining room is cozy and the decor is sophisticated, but not pretentious. Our server was friendly but not intrusive. We were a little hesitant about having sushi on a Monday but there was no reason. Everything was super fresh. Nothing fishy. We had 2 rolls, 3 sets of pieces, the gyoza, and the stuffed jalapeños. I had a craving for spicy tuna over crispy rice, so I asked our server if they could make some since I didn't see it on the menu. They did and it was 10 out of 10. I would say the portion sizes are pretty generous. The individual pieces of sushi were more like the size of 2 I'm most other restaurants. If I could offer one suggestion it would be to go a bit easier on the sauce for the rolls. Let the flavor of the food be the star.

For food, we ordered a few things including the Cesare salad, Tortelli, scallops, seafood pasta, lamb shank, mushrooms, and one other special. Everything was ok, but nothing was particularly remarkable or interesting. All the food was well-prepared and the lamb was tender. The Cesare salad was good and so were the scallops. I wouldn't get the Tortelli again, it was plain. The service was poor. We had to flag the server down a few times. She didn't check in with us throughout the meal. My friend didn't like her cocktail and asked for a new menu and she ordered another drink. We didn't make a fuss and the server didn't ask about the full cocktail that she took away. I don't expect them to comp the drink, but the server should have at least asked what was wrong or why she didn't like it. Feedback is important and she didn't seem to want any. I expected better service at this restaurant, which is supposed to be one of the better restaurants in Ojai. Overall, I'd recommend going elsewhere if you're in town. The food was good, but nothing special and there are other great restaurants that are more affordable, with better service.

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.

I got back to station at 12:40 about an hour later I went inside got my order and visibly saw that the food was soggy and we all know that a soda that's sitting for an hour won't be good anymore either. I kindly asked the cook if it can be remade and the reason. That I picked it up late was because we had a emergency to respond to. He was kind and gladly started to remake it. I want to say thank you to the cook. The reason I give a bad review was when the manager that guy that serves the food I didn't get his name but I will describe him how I see it (Mexicano, brown with facial scaring from acne) started to speak in Spanish was enraged he started to shake his head in disbelief, started to THROW all the food out on the table and decided to give me dirty looks....he then said something about us ambulance drivers. While I believe we are normal people with a duty to act on emergency situations we don't believe in special treatment...it's a rainy day and I just wanted a warm meal after being out in the rain. The atmosphere quickly did not feel okay it felt more tense and I did not feel welcomed. Once the manager got my food he practically just shoved my food on table and quickly walked off. I really wanted to talk to him about why he was acting as such I don't think it was professional for him to act that way when it's not his money or his own business. Does remaking 1 sandwich really a big deal for him? I got my food and I said thank you so much to the cook that remade my food and thank you to the cooks that never made it a big deal unlike the server I'm not sure if he's a manager or if he just has this attitude towards everyone.
