Pretty good little sushi joint. Sat at the sushi bar. For appetizers we got the seaweed salad and the cucumber salad with crab. Didn't really like that they put soy sauce in my cucumber salad. I usually like it tangy with the Japanese vinegar instead. I won't be getting that again. But the four rolls I had were pretty good. The service was also pretty good for a busy Friday night. Seemed like they had a lot of regulars that sat at the bar. Total price for my dinner was about $55. Very affordable given the amount of food that I ordered. read more

This sushi was absolute perfection! The taste, temperature, and attention to detail on each plate was fantastic! I had the Cherry Blossom and the Krispy Kreme Roll. It is such a cute little place, the workers are super sweet & respectful of COVID cleanliness, and it has literally the best sushi I've ever had in the South. The menu is traditional Japanese & the sushi rolls are super unique and high-quality. I always love coming here! My only negative comment is that it's extremely hard to get into at dinner time, and the take-out orders as well as sit-down dinner orders generally take forever. I loved the eel box sushi!!! Eel had a lot of flavor and enough avocado to balance it out. Worth it for $8. We also tried the sims roll which had tempura, imitation crab, and cucumber for only $5. Almost everything includes raw fish, as expected at a sushi place (just in case you're looking for more Americanized rolls). Service was painfully slow, and food took almost an hour. Guests at adjacent tables were walking to the service stand to fill their own water glasses in desperation. One of our rolls that included white tuna had a very displeasing tough texture that was hard to palate. Experience was a 2. Food was about a 3 or 4. Waiter was very nice and attentive. We had to wait an hour when they couldn't give us even an estimated time as to how long the wait would be so we were starving by the time we sat down. Then after we waited so long, they let two tables sit for 10 minutes waiting to be cleaned that no one tended to. I liked the dynamite roll and the double crunchy roll! Nice presentation, awesome customer service, very reasonably priced. Downfall is they don't give you complimentary soup or salad like other sushi places. We heard it was the best sushi in Jackson. We waited a long time for a table, so the hype seemed to be accurate until we waited even longer and ate. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant seemed surprised to have customers at the dinner hour. We watched and heard four people who had placed to-go orders just at 5 pm just leave the restaurant and walk out at 6:15p without food. We were seated at 5:30 and didn't leave until 9p. There's no shot this is the best sushi in Jackson; Jackson is a community known for hospitality, and hospitable places don't mess up as bad as this place did early in August 2018. The guy working as the hostess certainly needs a lesson in apologizing or in how to fake a sense of urgency, when he's tending to guests. read more

This place has been around many years for good reason. Despite the unassuming exterior, the food and service are excellent. It is small and clean. I highly recommend the kids chicken teriyaki box (only $6!) and my family loves the chirashi. This will always and forever be my favorite sushi place! read more

Got there in 30, waited another 30 even though the restaurant only had about 8 tables. The food is good, but we are not impressed with the take out service. I have eaten salmon for my entire life...and "Roger" the chef in the back of Sakura Bana ... is undoubtedly knows his stuff. The skin is crispy, like it was perfectly cooked "bacon"...it melts in your mouth ! the salmon is fresh and perfectly prepared. The owner makes all of his own condiments...and sauces... they are wonderful and fresh !! The ginger salad dressing is amazing, too ! THE MOST AMAZING appetizer they have...is the Chicken Neigma .... It is bite size chicken breast wrapped around mozzarella cheese and a tiny piece of asparagus ! Pan cooked, then topped with homemade Teriyaki Sauce !!! Our family cannot get enough of these ! Sushi was great, service was not. We placed a to go order and were told it would take 35 to 40 minutes, which we had planned for as it was a busy night. We came back an hour later just to give them the extra time and our order still wasn't ready. We were told it would be 5 more minutes, because they still had not made a couple of the things we ordered. Another 30 minutes go by and we watched as they finally started to make our order, by this time only half of the restaurant was full. 2 hour wait in total we finally got our order. No effort made on staff's part to offer any kind of compensation or reduction. I totally understand when a restaurant is busy but 2 hour wait time for a to go order is far from great. read more
