It isn't the best, but they do quite well in fulfilling your Asian food fix for delivery. The steak entrees such as steak fried rice or any of their beef dishes have been good. They do have sushi, as their name implies, but they have a full menu of any Asian food that you may want. Hibachi meals, Tempura, Thai favorites, Japanese selections, curry, and even Indian food. We usually order hibachi, but the sushi rolls are always a hit as well! The hibachi lunch and dinner portions are generous and the vegetables are always fresh and not overcooked/mushy. The food is decent. We lack good Chinese in Stephens city but they are consistently okay. But they alwaysssssssssss mess up my order. They either forget something or mix it up. I've never not once had my order 100% correct and I've ordered maybe 50 times. I order the same thing Everytime. Nothing specialized or anything. But they always forgot one thing. Also if you have shellfish allergy and you got sushi with no shellfish but someone else in your order did get shellfish, they package it all together in the same container right next to each other. My favorite dish at Sake Sushi is the Shrimp hibachi without rice. They double the vegetables and use a light sauce. Flavor is so perfectly balanced and seasoning is delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by this little sushi joint in Stephens City. I saw the reviews on Yelp & thought I'd give it a try when I was out that way for training. It's in a newer looking strip mall behind the Ace Hardware. It was lunchtime & I was the only customer - but the food was fresh & came out fast. Service: Average. I didn't think it was anything exceptional. Waitress mixed up our orders for a bit but apologized and got it fixed. Food: Above Average. Large portions with a fair price for both hibachi and sushi. The hibachi was yummy I got the Salmon and Filet Mignon combo. The Filet Mignon was delicious! It definitely melts in your mouth! I also liked how the place did not overpour on the sauce like some other places do. It was just enough to give it a nice full flavor. But I did think the sauce could've been improved instead of just using regular soy sauce. I was satisfied with the dish but there wasn't anything particularly exceptional about it. Above average but nothing to make it stand out. I got the Atlanta Beach roll which was basically a crunchy spicy salmon. Points for actually being crunchy...!! (although I would've liked a bit more if that crunchiness had been throughout) But no major complains as I've eaten at other places where it was gross and soggy! It also had just the right amount of spice. In addition the soy sauce they gave was infused with garlic and ginger in it which I appreciated because it brought out the flavor of the sushi more. I ordered the "N.Y. Strip Steak" hibachi and a sushi roll. The steak was decent and the mixed vegetables with the hibachi were good too. The included salad and miso soup were both good. A large Sapporo beer made the meal even better. I will definitely come back to order the ultimate quality deciding entree for any Japanese restaurant, chirashi and/or tekkadon. Sake Sushi lost a repeat customer tonight. After placing a large order for my family and returning home, we discovered the food was almost inedible and had items missing. We've been here before and the quality was always decent enough (not deserving of the paper they printed out themselves that hangs over the register proudly proclaiming them the 2nd best restaurant in Stephen's City, however) but tonight it was awful: the rice was mush, the steak was just strips of fat, the serving sizes were laughably small and again, the missing items. I called the restaurant to request a refund and after 5 minutes of a very rude woman trying to push me into keeping the food I was dissatisfied with she reluctantly agreed to let me return it for a full refund. When I got to the store, I was first in line but was forced to step aside for customers who arrived after me because they "actually pay for food". The rude woman behind the counter stormed off toward the kitchen with my food in hand, angrily muttering in Chinese. After processing my refund, I gave her a polite and courteous "Have a good night" that was met with total silence. In my opinion, everyone should stay away. The food is not worth the attitude you get from the employees when you're actually happy, and God help you if you aren't. They get one star because they did at least honor the refund. First, I should start with the delivery was very fast and friendly. I'm in town from Chicago and had anticipated this to be not what i'm used to (its Stephens City after all; but hey Winchester has some total gems so you just never know); but lets say it wasn't even close. All I really wanted was Hot and Sour Soup delivered- had to add entrees and apps to hit the delivery min but that was completely understandable and I was curious about this place and wanted to taste different dishes. I should note, I ordered only off the "asain kitchen" sub menu; not the sushi or hibachi. The hot and sour soup was miso paste based and inedible even with the crispy noodles to add. The egg rolls were very large and lacking in any flavor. Perhaps tied with the disappointment level of the soup was the spicy garlic chicken dish; which i asked to be extra spicy. It also, was covered in a sauce that was just too thick yet somehow flavorless. No spice to the dish whatsoever. Complete disappointment and tossed the dishes. Perhaps one day Stephens City will get there, but for now I'll continue to just go to Sucilee or Chopsticks in Winchester when in town. read more

About three weeks ago the wife and I found ourselves in the Stephens City area and VERY hungry. We had been looking for a restaurant for almost an hour that would both satisfy our cravings and be diet-friendly, but had a hard time just finding a restaurant ... any restaurant. We hoped that we would be able to find something, ANYTHING as we got close to the I-81 interchange. And as we got closer to the interstate, we saw a shopping center with a Walgreen's and pulled in. I don't recall what restaurant there pulled us in, and we were ready to toss the diets out for ANYTHING regardless, but were happy to find a sushi / Japanese place. Sushi places in the boonies can be a bit of a gamble though, but our hunger told us to take a roll of the dice. And at first, I thought we might have made a poor gamble. The interior had more of a small town "pizza joint" feel than a Japanese restaurant. The hibachi they advertised was not done at the table, but rather at a centralized hibachi grill. And the "Asian Kitchen" menu featured Chinese, Thai, and Indian food. I'm OK with pan-Asian restaurants if they can do everything at high quality, but when you see restaurants offering Indian cuisine alongside Chinese dishes, that sets off the "warning bell" that they may be trying to offer too much to please too many people rather than just focus on offering high quality food. So with some trepidation we ordered the sashimi deluxe, and an la carte order of salmon and red snapper. They have a good selection of creative specialty rolls, so we added one for good measure - the American Roll, with tuna, salmon, whitefish, roe, avocado, and cucumber. Like most places, the meal came with the obligatory miso soup and generic salad with ginger dressing. Both were fine. Unlike most places, the sashimi combo also came with rice. The sashimi was very good. Excellent fish quality. And the roll was also very good. One unexpected positive of eating at a sushi restaurant that also serves Indian food is that they had fish sauce at the table. Fish sauce plus lemon and a splash of low-sodium soy makes a KILLER dipping sauce for sushi. At the end of the meal, we were treated to a complimentary desert ... two tiny slices of a lemon cake and orange slices, arranged to form a smily face. These are the little touches that brings me back to a Japanese / sushi restaurant . At the end of the day, they're basically just slicing fish and serving it to you, so food quality and service are the two biggest factors to bring clientele back. Sadly, I also have my doubts about this place surviving - not because of their food quality or service, but because of their location. Japanese restaurants just don't seem to fare well in rural Virginia. I'm rarely in this part of Virginia, but if I am, I would go back. I just hope it's still there if I do. read more

I have to bring some balance to all the stupid five-star reviews of this place. I have to believe the only reason this place has so many stars is because it's the only Asian place in a 7 mile radius. We ordered several different sushi rolls, pineapple chicken fried rice, and pad Thai chicken. I will give them props for their sweet potato fried sushi. It was actually excellent. The pad Thai came out lukewarm, it had a fluorescent orange color, and the chicken tasted like something that would come out of a baby food jar--I don't even know how chicken meat can be so fall apart tender. And that's not a good thing. The chicken fried rice served on a half of pineapple was an utter fail. It looked great but on my first bite it tasted like vinegar because the pineapple was rotten. My wife immediately said the same thing. Because the waitress was running half the restaurant and was more focused on all the takeout orders (which clearly they do a huge volume on) it took some time to catch her attention. We explained that the food was bad and she did not believe us. A near argument ensued and she was debating whether there was a problem or not. Are you serious? Finally my wife just said why don't you try it? And she did!!! The look on her face as she realized how bad the food was said everything. She then said she wanted to remake it to which I said I would rather just not get anything. Just take it off of our bill I asked. But she didn't want to do that. She insisted we get something else. ****OK insert here a (cultural?) difference on how most restaurateurs would handle this. Now, you just served your customer a rotten piece of food. You want them to be happy but instead you argue. You don't take anything off the bill, and you require them to order more food from your questionable kitchen. Really? Also, instead of remaking the cold pad Thai she sent it back to the kitchen for the cook to heat up again. Whatever. Never going back to this place...what a joke. read more

Talk about a low-cost diamond in the rough? .. This place is a fantastic stop for lunch! The first time I went in with my boss for a quick meal, as we were both craving sushi. The sushi lunch is an awesome value -- 2 Rolls with Soup/Salad runs $6, and 3 Rolls with Soup/Salad runs $9. There's a pretty decent selection of sushi options with the lunch rolls, and they're always willing to modify things up a bit (for instance, I like my unagi with avocado versus cucumber). My only complaints? .. The sushi isn't super tight like you normally see, so the rolls break down as soon as they hit soy. Not a big deal, as the taste/flavor are there regardless. The other issue? .. When you order hot (jasmine) tea, it's never hot, which is a big disappointment. After giving it a few tries, I end up now only ordering water when I swing in for lunch. Overall, the place is a great value for what you get, and I do recommend this restaurant to others who have a hankering for a sushi lunch while in the Stephens City area! Sake Sushi is a nice Asian fusion restaurant hidden in an obscure shopping center in Stephen's City. Don't let the fact it's next to a Barber Shop and Spay and Neuter Clinic discourage you from having your next meal here. The service at Sake Sushi was friendly and helpful, knowledgeably recommending and explaining some of the restaurant's offerings. I took the waitress' advice and had a delicious and interesting Japanese soda - I highly recommend it! He food was very good - not the best, but very good nonetheless. Both the Hibachi and sushi were authentically prepared and elegantly presented in large quantities. Take your pick, be adventurous, and you can't go wrong! First let me start off by saying that I've never actually eaten inside the restaurant. I've only ever been inside this place once and that was to pick up food due to the delivery driver's car breaking down. From what I remember from the inside, it was fairly clean and decently decorated. Service: This place has a great online ordering system. No need to even pick up the phone, which I love cause I hate talking on the phone. My wife and I have ordered from this place A LOT. Their delivery is almost always timely and accurate. Both delivery drivers that have delivered our food have been extremely friendly, especially the guy (sorry I don't know your name, but you are awesome!). Also, their staff (not just the delivery driver) is really friendly. My wife and I ordered from them so much that they know what we normally get, which is Hunan Beef with no broccoli and extra water chestnuts. The few times I've forgotten to mention no broccoli and extra water chestnuts in the comments section when I order online, they actually called me and wanted to make sure that's what I wanted. Just awesome. They will also sometimes bring you a little dessert and Japanese soda with your meal. The man who delivers the food always hands it to my daughter when I answer the door. He's so polite and makes my daughter and I smile every time he delivers our food. Food: The food is pretty good. I've ordered almost everything on their menu. By far their best thing there is the Crab Rangoon. It's lightly fried and not overly greasy yet still has a nice crunch to it. Highly recommend it. Their fried rice is also very tasty, especially their NY Steak fried rice. My favorite main dish is the Hunan Beef. It's almost always delicious. I say almost because the last time I ordered it the vegetables tasted raw when they are normally stir-fried fairly well. We've ordered their sushi before and it's not bad. Definitely better than most places we've had in Northern Virginia. I'm sure it would taste better if we were to eat it fresh at the sushi bar, so I can't quite dock them points for it. With all of the amazing reviews we decided to give this place a try for valentine's day. We were seated pretty fast. The place was busy and only had two waitresses in the whole place. They were busy! So we waited quite some time to get our food. Our waitress was very apologetic for our wait. We were fine with waiting. While waiting my husband and I both noticed that the back of the restaurant where we were seated looked like a storage room. Boxes piled up behind the last table and other random stuff laying around. Also the place was so dark. Strange. Finally, our food came! We ordered a Phoenix Roll and a Crazy Tuna? Roll and a spicy salmon roll. The spicy salmon roll wasn't spicy at all. My husband and I both weren't impressed. So on the the specialty rolls. Both were bland and didn't rank as "specialty" for us. We also ordered off the hibachi grill for our kids. They got the shrimp and steak which was pretty tasty! The restaurant only has one hibachi grill so your food isn't cooked in front of you. We also ordered the Pad Thai chicken. This was our first time trying Pad Thai chicken and we both thought it was pretty good. Overall we were happy with the service that we received from our waitress. The sushi not so much. Truly a great place to eat, in my opinion. The only reason I don't give five stars is it's not the best sushi I've ever had. They also boast an impressive menu, unfortunately while missing out on a lot of staple Japanese food, somehow. But y'know, can't have it all, right? No menu is endless. So that is forgiven. I usually get some combination of the following: miso soup, white rice(perfect with the miso soup - I like to get a spoon of rice and dip it in the miso soup... it's a meal on it's own, seriously), shrimp tempura(w/ yum yum sauce... which, btw, I also like to just dip rice in - yum), shrimp in white sauce(basically the shrimp w/ veggies, but no veggies, all shrimp! again goes great with white rice to balance/fill it out, and ... well it's just amazing), avocado roll(great coupled with...), unagi/eel roll, and more(but those are my favorites)~ They have also been kind enough to give me Ramune(Japanese soda!) a few times, as well as complimentary desserts. These were never given to make up for anything done wrong, nor were they by any means requested. I'm guessing it's just a gift of appreciation, showing good will toward one of their regulars. ...which is super nice of them, really! I love when a place recognizes your repeated patronage and actually gives a crap. I'd also like to point out that there are clear cultural differences. They will seem to be overly attentive at some times, and abrupt or short at others. This shouldn't be taken as rudeness. It's important to keep in mind that different cultures have different customs, social norms, and so on. Just make a mental note of it, especially if you aren't used to being around foreign people! In addition to this, while they primarily serve/advertise Japanese food, I have yet to hear anyone speak Japanese there(I actually am learning Japanese, so yeah). No Japanese, no Korean - rather, they seem to speak Mandarin there(modern language most people speak in China). But this is pretty typical when it comes to Asian restaurants in America, from what I've noticed. Point is, don't go in expecting things to be super duper authentic or hoping to learn Japanese words, haha. Apart from the food names in the menu, you likely won't have any luck at all, even including the acknowledgement of kanji(Japanese language joke - & a bad one at that, oops). Ultimately, they are great. Nice enough people, food is always quick & tastes good, the place is clean, it's not too expensive... overall, great. I've heard they deliver, but I live in Winchester, not Stephens City. It's too bad. I wonder if they deliver here, actually...? It'd only make sense, since Winchester is significantly bigger, and it's literally within anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Hint hint, people at Sake Sushi...! That is, if you even read these things.
