I've been coming to this location on and off for years. The staff here has always been polite. I'm Gona be honest with you guys though. This isn't my favorite place to eat. The hibachi is terribly over priced and not at all good enough for said price. (Oishi on highway 19 has amazing Hibachi for half the price) However the sushi is really good and the drinks are fabulous. Shout out to Maureen one of the bar tenders here. She makes some really good drinks. I recommend the Green Dragon from her. All in all this location isn't terrible. If you are just hopping off the interstate and want a quick bite to eat? Check it out. Like I said before The sushi is great. The drinks are wonderful. The staff is amazing and hard workers. The chicken hibachi specifically? Not so great. read more

Amazing food and entertainment! We walked right in and got a seat. Everyone was professional and nice!

The best time to go is lunch , meals are reasonably priced , However dinner service is completely different. If you decide to sit at one of the grills, a small piece of chicken breast , a few vegetables and a small portion of fried rice will set you back 25 dollars at least , at that point your paying to watch someone cook and certainly not the food read more

Rice wasn't fully cooked it's was hard like it just come out of the box, the vegetables had freezer burn badly. The noodles made me gag. The salad and soup was the best part of the entrée. The meat was edible. Deff not worth it tho. read more

Pretty good sushi ! We lived in Japan 6 yrs . I feel like I know sushi . I got the cooked sushi which I prefer . We also ate the Pork Ton-Katsu very good also with the katsu sauce . Curry, sauce ( not great at all ) . I would go back . Fast , friendly good service . read more

Japanese express is not hard to find these days, but on a that are unique and present superb quality? Difficult, and unfortunately, still hasn't been found here. Sake Sushi is a good restaurant, one that has great portions and engaging, fun Hibachi shows. The food is very good, but, out of all the dishes I've had, they honestly consistently taste the same. I heard some nice things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. Upon arriving, we were immediately sat down. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and the servers were incredibly friendly. The hibachi chefs on the left side of the restaurant were exciting to watch. The dinner menu options were on the pricier side but there was a nice selection of items including hibachi, noodles, and many types of sushi. We ordered stir fry udon noodles and the special bento box. The udon tasted great, but there could have been more noodles and less onions. The special bento box came with a variety of foods including a tasty soup and salad to start. The actual box included some tempura vegetables and shrimp, rice, California rolls, and chicken and beef teriyaki. All were pretty solid with the exception of the chicken, which was very dry and only partially salvageable by some sauce. It made for a nice mix of multiple things together so I could try a bit of everything. read more

Service was middle of the road. Food wasn't great for the higher than average prices. Yum yum sauce taste like Thousand Island salad dressing. They wouldn't let my 4 or 6 year old daughter eat off of my wife's plate(sitting in dining not hibachi) without adding $5.95 to our ticket. We won't be back!!! read more

Ate here on a Monday while I was on travel. We were seated immediately, but we did notice while we were eating that there were several families & couples waiting for a table, as all the hibachi tables were full. For starters, I had 2 orders of Ebi sashimi and 1 order of the Smoked Salmon sashimi ... both tasted very fresh. I then had the salmon and filet hibachi, which comes with miso soup and also salad. We got the typical show that one gets at every hibachi place. The food was very good and I liked that they gave me the option to get more veggies since I did not want fried or steamed rice (I don't eat rice). My hubby got hibachi, too, and he had the fried rice, which was still crunchy like it was not cooked long enough (this really was the only real negative thing about the food here, and luckily I didn't get affected since I didn't eat the rice!) I thought it was a little weird that I had to ask for chopsticks, as I did order sashimi ... perhaps the locals don't use them and therefore they don't leave them on the table? I was also somewhat surprised by the price, too, being that Meridian is a small town (or so I assume), as I live in the Houston 'burbs and do not pay that much for hibachi (believe the hibachi combo I ordered was about $24 and I only pay $17 back home). But, regardless, it was totally worth the price because we don't mind paying more for really good food (and this was good) and simply because the other dining options were not appealing to us (we don't eat at chain restaurants while on travel because we can get that at home). We will definitely eat at Sake Sushi again if we are ever passing through that area. read more

This is your typical hibachi steak house. The guy on our grill was fun and the kids with us loved his show. I got a chicken & veggie soba soup which was a bit bland. We had to ask for some sauce to give it some flavor. However the veggies, noodles, and chicken were in abundance and I enjoyed the soup. Portions were quite large. read more

Went here because of the reviews. Its friday at noon and they are very busy. I expected to be wowed based on what I read. I got the lunch special will the eel and cucumber roll and a beer. The seafood was warm and fishy not something I'm used to when I order sushi. I just couldn't eat it and it looked so nice when it was presented. It was also tough which was strange and the rice didn't stick together it just fell right out of it when I tried picking it up. I will not be back here. I have never used soy sauce on sushi in my life and had to this time to try to get a few pieces down. Super bummed. read more

This is just another regular hibachi restaurant. I guess for Meridian it is ok. I happened to place a to go order on a Saturday night. The place was full amd they were busy. I was told 15 mins over the phone and it was more like 25-30 mins. I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi. The chicken and shrimp were both very dry and overcooked. The veggies and rice were just ok. Nothing to get excited about. The vegetable gyoza were again ok. I got it stramed at it was rather gummy. The shrimp roll that I had was not spicy enough amd I did not care that the tail was left intact for the last roll. Overpriced restaurant with mediocre food. Not sure if I'll be going back there again. read more

We stopped here for a quick bite while passing through Meridian. The place looks new and had decor/atmosphere. They even have a sake room for small private parties! The service was great. We got the 3 rolls for $10 lunch special, which was ok. There was no problem with the fish, but the rice was a bit dry or maybe old, which was a disappointment when ordering sushi rolls. read more

The service is great and the food had never disappointed. They have a great selection of sushi and the option of hibachi. The decor is up-to-date and modern and is always clean. Friday and Saturday evenings can get packed so get there early and they're closed between lunch and dinner. Glad meridian has a spot like this for whenever I'm craving sushi. read more

For Meridian, not bad. A bit overprice and not a large selection of fish. Noting too original. Fairly standard sushi fare. Some of the fish had an odd taste and texture. Not completely sure about the freshness of the fish but I haven't gotten sick from the numerous times i have dined here. If you are in Meridian and want to try something different, give it a chance. read more

Horrible hostess. Had a large party and was told to order in 5 minutes or we couldn't eat. We would have had a least a $300-400 bill. Very rude people. Visiting from out of town and will never come here. read more

Love this place. Great American/Japanese sushi. It is a little expensive, but you can see the care that is taken in the preparation of your food. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. I had the pepper tuna appetizer and the teriyaki shrimp bento box. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. read more

I enjoyed my dining experience here, to have three extraordinary sushi rolls. It may be a pretty expensive place to dine, the sushi rolls my mother and I had were prepared well. The waiter and hostess were both attentive and friendly, and I like how this place is very tidy. We had the Titanic Roll, Meridian Roll, and Dynamite roll. All three tasted very well and very fresh. Server was friendly, accommodating, and accurate although she hesitated when I asked to have spicy sauce added to a lunch special roll, as if the chef or management might give her hell for it so I withdrew my request. Sushi was fresh and average. Noodles were not what I was accustomed to but they were what I ordered. In sum, pretty and friendly place with average to good fare. Love the food and atmosphere here and never had a complaint about the food or service. We ate there tonight and some nitwits thought it was a good place to have a birthday party for a toddler. I guess the dummies didn't realize that this isn't McDonald's and I hate to pay $50 for a meal for 2 to only have it spoiled by inconsiderate people and their brats. I look forward to the next time I go there as always but I will call ahead to see if some other geniuses are having a children's birthday party. This is in no way a bad reflection on Sake Sushi...even though I could have gone all night without the guy beating the gong while the crew sang happy birthday. Great place. I was in town visiting family and this is where they wanted to go. We did the hibachi meal and also had a roll, beer and warm saki. Was all very good. I gave 4 stars only because $20 for a little meat and vegetables but a load of rice is a little steep. They also added gratuity for a party of 3. Maybe that is what hibachi places do. had spider roll, and hibachi steak. soup, salad and fried rice come with hibachi dinner, typical hibachi joint set up. roll was just okay..(it was very cheap) I wouldn't order again.. I think if they prepare soup temperature higher, then it will work better with their fried condiments. they may consider to add more green onion. salad dressing was creamy and a little more sweeter side than others, but I liked it. fried rice was boring.. shouldnt complain because it came with it and was included. however, they may come up with another sauce, other than just soy sauce, add butter, option for beef or chicken or shrimp, add chopped onion, garlic, and sell it for few more extra dollars, then it will be a lot better. steak quality was low (select level i think..) for this level of meat, it is overpriced. they can keep the price, but should get higher quality meat. cook did a good job and didnt over cooked and saved the steak somewhat.. waitress came back refilled drinks after cooking was done. my meal was not even finished and other people at our table didn't even finish half of their meal but she brought out checks and set them out in the middle of dining. even 8 dollar Chinese buffet place wouldn't do this.. want us to leave fast?? restaurant was empty.. if I were the owner, I will be very mad.. she lost many chances to sell other drinks, desserts. I guess there was no owner in the restaurant and servers were seating at the sushi bars after she set out the menu.. and it looked bad.. she added 15% gratuity to our bill. we were only two. I didn't see any note on the menu. if owner allows this, service will be continue to be poor. I wouldn't mind leaving only 15% tip for what we had today and didn't bother much.. I tried to give 3.5 star because they kept my phone (I left it there and had to go back) but yelp doesn't have this option and leaving 3 stars today. hopefully owner/manager will see this review and improve on their training and food. read more

It is the day after Christmas and I wanted Sushi. My fiancée and I head to Sake Sushi because she says it is her favorite sushi place in her hometown. We walk in get a sit quickly, but then everything falls apart. Our waitress comes and get our drinks and then rushes us to order. The restaurant was not busy at this time so we asked for a second to look at the menu. She said, "Ok, I will come back when I have your drinks." A few minutes later our drinks arrive but she says one more second and walks off. She goes to take the people's order that came in five minutes after us. After finishing taking their order she walks off and doesn't return to take our order for another 5 minutes. We give her our order of two lunch sushi specials (2 California rolls and 2 shrimp rolls) and we wait. And we wait. And we wait. We wait for 30 mins and she comes to give the people who came in 5 minutes after us food. While delivering their food she apologized and promised our food would be their shortly because the sushi orders were backed up. We then wait another fifteen minutes. I tell my fiancé "Five more minutes and then I'm leaving if the food hasn't arrived." Well about 4 minutes later the couple next to us who have been seated for around 15 minutes get their order. What did they order for it to get there so much faster than our food, you may ask. Well they ordered 2 sushi lunch specials just like us. We then decided to leave after waiting roughly 55 minutes. I will not return to this establishment because of bad service, long food wait times, and blatant lies about our order wait time. I will make sure that everyone I know from this area knows what occurred and chooses to go somewhere else from now on. read more

Great cuisine. I've only had the crab and cream cheese roll and it was quite enjoyable.

We had the Lover, Crazy Tuna, Dynamite, Rock n Roll rolls and they were all fabulous! Great service and pricing wasn't bad. We will be back!

Best Japanese food in Meridian by far. Bento boxes and sushi are all outstanding. The only downside is the price. Dinner bento boxes run ~$25 each. If this place was more affordable it'd be a weekly place for me. Instead I usually go once a month or so. read more

I'm a big fan of more traditional Japanese sushi. Ordered the sunimono and was served a mix of chopped fish with no ponzu sauce. Nothing like what was described and pictured in the menu. AWEFUL. The one saving grace - tuna sashimi was ok and served with oba leaves. read more
