Overall 2.75-3 Stars Price for lunch buffet is about $16 includes tax. W a $3 tip, it becomes $19. Expensive lunch for one when it used to be about $12 just 2 years ago. Inflation is becoming a tiresome thing. Basic Chinese / American food, lack of flavor and mostly oily on the noodles, breaded chicken, stir fried teriyaki chicken, and beef, etc. There were four buffet tables (2 for hot, 1 for salad items, 1 for desserts). Also has prepackaged single serving ice cream. Though the food was basic, the service was good. The server checked several times if I needed additional refills and removed my empty plates. The restaurant itself was clean and organized. Lots of seats and tables for 2-12 people. The food was fresh but lacking flavor. Good to fill your belly but not anything else. When you drive into the parking lot of this little Chinese restaurant your first thought is that this place is going to suck... but that is far from the truth. I came in on a Friday night after work about 5:30pm, there were only a couple of people seated and I started to get that uneasy feeling. I was seated very quickly and headed straight to the buffet... talk about a lot of selections!!! I grabbed a small heaping of noodles and added some Pepper Chicken, grabbed a crab rangoon, a couple pot stickers and heading to my seat. As I am eating, the crowd starting coming in... this place filled up quick!!! The food was hot and fresh and tasted pretty good so I headed back to the buffet for some other dishes. I noticed a line waiting for a pan filled with crawfish and I overheard people talking about how good the crawfish was... as I noticed people filling two and three plates full. I'm not a crawfish fan, but evidently they must have been pretty damn good as they couldn't keep enough of them on the buffet! Needless to say this little China Buffet has a great selection of some pretty darn good food. The down fall is that you have to pay/piece $.50 for Sushi?? Weird right? I guarantee there wasn't a single item on my plate that would have passed a temperature inspection from a food & health inspector. MSG OVERLOAD When you're on a road trip and trying to stick to a schedule, but can't eat fast food, another suitable option is a buffet. It's cuts down on the time it takes to serve and pay. Chinese Buffets can be tricky if you're trying to stay healthy, but there will always be the Beef & Broccoli's and Chicken with Mixed Vegie dishes. I have a slight sensitivity to MSG, but it's not that big of a deal if taken in moderation. Unfortunately for me, every asian style dish was swimming in MSG. How can I tell? It's not too hard actually. When you try making these same dishes at home, for example, you don't normally keep the same sauces in your house that they use at the restaurant. These sauces are called "Special sauce" or "Extra flavoring." And thats what MSG is technically. It's a bunch of chemicals to bring extra flavor to something that's already good as is. The restaurant has 4 buffet aisles with the following food styles: 1) Southern food/fried friedness with fries 2) Asian dishes 3) Soups and Salad 4) Desert I tried my best to eat things I knew shouldn't be crammed with chemicals, but every dish was just soggy and disgusting! The pork sticks, the sweet&sour chicken, even the macaroni salad! The food had undoubtedly been sitting there oxidizing for hours since I was probably their 10th customer since they opened. Never in all of my buffet eating days have I actually considered the best item at a Chinese joint to be the Sushi. I mean that is low. Worst part about it was that I got to the restaurant 20 minutes before lunch ended, and they still made me pay for the the dinner price that was $7 more than the lunch price. Don't even try to work magic on the old grandma who happens to be the only non-asian in this whole establishment 'cause she won't have any of it. She has to be aware that this place is a hell hole. First time trying after reopening. Was not impressed at all. Lots of the items were barely warm or cold. There were a few items that were sort of hot. The sushi was not near as tasty as they looked. The wasabi was not hot at all and actually was dry. The soups were not good either. Had lots to pick from, just wish the food was good. Will not likely be back. read more

Eh. I've been to a lot of Chinese buffets all over the US, and this one was about average. I was there for a late dinner (after 8), so I should have known better that the food on the trays would be getting old and to the bottom the pan. The sushi selection was actually half decent. Aside from the usual maki rolls they actually had a "boat" set out with a variety of nigiri sushi out; salmon, tuna, hamachi, and even octopus. Genuinely concerned for their freshness though, I opted for the octopus which was at least cooked, and a few maki rolls. The hot and sour soup was not bad. Not too hot, but a good flavor. Steamed pork & mushroom dim sum dumplings had an odd flavor. A number of the pans were actually getting cold. And as another reviewer noted, probably heavy on the MSG as most dishes were quite salty. The bright spot here, and the sole reason for the third star, was the cheerful and fast service. Perhaps "thank you" was her only English though, as she used it a lot. Oh, and $2.95 bottles of Sapporo (and other imports) made things even better! read more

One of my favorite Chinese buffets. I try to stop here every time I'm through the area. Pretty much all dishes are good to great. They do the hot and sour soup the right way. Employees are just ok. The key to this place is that they have a carry out buffet for only $3.99 / lb! You can fill an entire carryout container for around 1 - 1.5 lbs. good fairly inexpensive china buffet. For a Chinese restaurant in Mississippi, I give it a two-star rating. The food was made to service non-Asians so that is kind of understandable, not meant for Asians. But I'm gonna judge it based off of my Asian taste buds. The food was acceptable and edible. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad food. Most of the food was greasy, oily, and salty; some were distasteful. The establishment was very run-down and could use some care. The flavors did not satisfy my taste buds like the fried rice, the salted shrimp, or the Chinese ribs. Usually I've always given this restaurant fairly high marks. Then I find they decided to change something that has now caused my rating to drop. To some, this may mean nothing. But to me, it's everything. I enjoy creating a good balance between sweet and hot in my sauce used for dipping my sushi and all my fried foods. Now I find out they've gotten rid of their hot mustard that use to be so good and replaced it with mustard packets like you'd get for take out food. Made my sauce just terrible! This place was surprisingly good! We hit a good time for a buffet at 6:30 on a Friday so the food was fresh. Atmosphere is meh but prices are great for what you get. Lots of shrimp in different ways on buffet. The egg rolls and spring rolls were disappointing but the black pepper chicken was fantastic. Short ribs and sesame chicken also both very good. Even the chocolate pudding is rich and the canned pears were cold and good. They also have an ice cream station where you can get hand dipped blue bell in a variety of flavors. This was our last rest stop in Mississippi for the night. We were looking for plenty of food because the road's tough. Well, this restaurant was about to close and they still had their buffet out. That was such a relief! The food itself was alright considering where we were. The meat dishes were fairly plentiful, not just noodles with a sprinkle of veggies. I recall even seeing Chinese broccoli. Yay! What we liked the most were the fresh and sweet fruits (e.g. orange, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and grapes). The staff was also kind and helpful. I came in a Sunday at 12:30. It was packed. Definitely better than most. Most of it was hot and tasty. They had a wider variety of sushi than most places, but it was the typical sliver of fish with a forest of cucumber or imitation whatever with cream cheese, etc. Nice variety of food though, and I left satisfied. read more

I live here in Meridian but I rarely go out and eat unless it is in the North part of town within walking distance. Today 04/18/17 I decided to take the Choctaw Transit Bus to China Buffet. I'd not been there in 2 years in fact. Everything was wonderful and was like it was 2 years ago. I was especially pleased to see salmon on the menu since I dearly like salmon. I didn't get to eat was much as I really wanted since I was with someone else. There will be another time soon when I shall be alone and can do better justice to China Buffet II's ample menu ! ;-) This is the BEST Chinese restaurant in Meridian and even in other major cities. I am always astounded at the huge amount of different foods present on the buffet. I was also pleased with the seating, our waitress and the cashier! One of the better, if not the best, Chinese buffet in town. The location is very convenient to interstate travelers. There is a sushi buffet as well, but the quality is just fair --- but what can you expect for a $7.00 buffet. Expect a large assortment of standard Chinese fare as well as some basic American -- broiled salmon, chicken tenders, fried catfish, etc. My favorites are the Sesame Chicken and the fried chicken wings -- much better wings than you can get from KFC, Popeye's, etc. It's worth the trip. read more

I read other review and thought they were old and things could have changed. No they have not. The place is filthy. I was nervous that I would become ill from the food the entire time eating. Second and most important the food was bad. Almost everything on my plate was prepared badly. General chicken soggy, crab Rangoon no filing and more greasy than crunchy, white rice so stall from being in rice cooker it was hard, fried shrimp over cooked, peppered chicken just tough from being on the warmer too long. Would never eat here again but at least the fruit was fresh. And over course the server could not give less of a BLEEP about me as a customer. And lastly there was a dead coach roach stuck in one of the food signs at the buffet line. read more
