I was really happy to find this spot. I've been familiar with Haitian cuisine for many years, so…read moreI'm always excited when I come across a place serving good, authentic Haitian food. The grill tasted very fresh and flavorful. They also serve a gravy on the side which was surprisingly good -- and that's saying a lot because I'm usually not much of a gravy person. The pikliz was tasty; my only complaint is that I would have liked a little more of it, although that may have just been something I should have checked before leaving. The rice was excellent. It had a really nice flavor with a slightly peppery finish and honestly stood out as some of the better rice I've had at a Haitian restaurant. They also offer a house tea that goes along with the name Choublak (which the owner Marcus mentioned means hibiscus). The tea contains sorrel and is definitely worth trying if you visit. Another thing I appreciated was seeing a hands-on owner. Marcus is both the owner and the chef, and it shows in the attention to the food and the way he interacts with customers. Overall, if you're looking to try Haitian food, this is a great spot to check out. They have a small sit-down area and offer lunch specials Wednesday through Friday, which is a good opportunity to stop by and try the menu.

I honestly have no idea what is going on here, but this experience was extremely concerning…read more I ordered from a restaurant listed on Uber Eats as "Taco Namas #1." I specifically ordered the pulled pork ultimate taco bowl salad, and what arrived looked nothing like the photo or description on Uber Eats. It did not appear to be pulled pork, and the rice, beans, and corn listed in the description were completely missing. What I received was basically chunks of pork with lettuce, tomato, and onions. What concerns me even more is what I discovered afterward. I checked the address listed for "Taco Namas #1" on Uber Eats to see where the restaurant was located, and the address brought me to this restaurant. I then searched for Taco Namas #1 independently and could not find any restaurant by that name on Google, Yelp, or anywhere else I searched. So I would genuinely like an explanation: Who exactly is Taco Namas #1, and why is an Uber Eats restaurant operating under that name using this restaurant's address? Between receiving food that did not match what I ordered and then discovering the confusion surrounding the restaurant name and address, I am extremely dissatisfied and concerned about this experience.

Nothing I tried really stood out in flavor, seasoning, or execution. The biggest disappointment was paying $33 for half a fish. At that price point, I expected something that would make me say, "Okay, this was worth it." Instead, the fish was very basic and didn't deliver the flavor or quality I expected for $33. I'm always willing to pay good money for good food, especially authentic Haitian cuisine, but the price has to match what's on the plate. Based on this visit, the value and flavor just weren't there for me.

Going in, the interior was very clean and clearly gave off carribean vibes. The tables inside were jumping with other patrons, but we were seated rather quickly. For dinner, we ordered 1x griot dinner complete (meaning the platter; rice & peas, pikliz, plaintains), 1x lassot complete (fried turkey), and 2x pate codes (think of a loaded hatian empanada; we ordered 1x fish and 1x chicken). Moving on with our review; everything was excellent! The griot had a nice crispy exterior but was tenderly seasoned inside. The lassot was surprisingly moist and crispy too. To include, the contrast of the onions marinated with the green seasoning on top. The rice & peas were cooked perfectly as they were light as air and plantains were crispy & salted nicely too. The pate codes were huge in size and flavor as well! My preference would be the original over the fish, but they both packed a tangy, savory, and spicy punch! Moreover, we had the pleasure of meeting and being served by the owner, who was very friendly and attentive. Overall, we were highly satisfied with our experience and would definitely recommend this spot for anybody who's looking for quality hatian cusuine. Final verdict 5/5!

I have never felt so unwelcome as a paying customer. I called ahead specifically to place a takeout…read moreorder and was told, rudely, that I could NOT place my order over the phone and that I had to physically come into the restaurant. I drove out of my way specifically because I was told I needed to come in. When I arrived, the young woman working was sitting on her phone and completely ignoring me. Instead of greeting me or acknowledging me as a customer, she eventually waved me over with an attitude as if I were inconveniencing her. To make matters worse, when I attempted to order the stew turkey I had specifically come there for, I was told they were out. I asked if they had just recently run out, and she said no -- which makes the entire situation even more frustrating. If you already knew you were out of an item, why have a customer drive all the way there just to place an order in person? A simple "we're out of that today" over the phone would have saved me the trip. The attitude from beginning to end was extremely rude and dismissive. I understand that people have bad days, but customers should not be made to feel like a nuisance for simply trying to spend their money at your establishment. And honestly, the restaurant was completely empty when I arrived. If you're trying to run a successful business and attract customers, treating the few customers who actually walk through your door with this kind of attitude is not the way to do it. I was willing to go out of my way to support this restaurant, and instead I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Customer service matters, regardless of who the customer is or what they look like. I will not be returning, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
