Garage door closed (it was winter) but clearly marked for inspections. Realized later that there was a big vehicle parked in front of the entrance with the name of the company. That door is to the right of the garage door. Interesting waiting room. Lots of antiques to look at. Creepy dolls, age old magazines, Christmas decorations, and piles of 8-tracks! The wait was very entertaining!! Great music while you wait too!!! Everyone super friendly. Inspection was $20. I'll be back in a year :)

Headline: Tax Evasion Tactics and Dishonest Pricing - Avoid This Shop!…read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this shop. They use classic bait-and-switch tactics to avoid taxes and overcharge customers. Initially, they quoted me a ridiculous $930 for labor on my Lexus ES350, then offered to "lower" it to $790 only if I paid in CASH. This is clearly a tactic to avoid taxes while still charging premium rates. I provided all my own parts (spark plugs and two catalytic converters). Even though they only installed ONE of the two converters, they still forced me to pay the full "cash price" we had discussed for the entire job. When I asked about the second converter--which is a simple 30-minute job in the front of the engine--the mechanic tried to extort another $350 from me! To make it worse, the mechanic lied to my face about the technical difficulty of the job to justify his price hiking, claiming the rear catalyst is easier to access than the front one (a blatant lie to anyone who knows Lexus engines). These people are not honest mechanics; they are predators looking for cash-heavy transactions. The shop is empty for a reason. Check the other reviews--I'm not the only one they've tried to scam. Do yourself a favor and go to a professional shop that accepts cards and provides honest estimates.

Piedmont Tire and Auto has my complete trust. Had purchased tires from them many years ago. Was…read morerecently told that I needed new tires, went to the usual tire places, received quotes and then remembered them. I called, told them the make, model, and wanted something good in snow, rain, and off road (for a Jeep). They answered a few questions, ordered the tires, I scheduled the appointment, got them put on, and when I went to pay thought it was a mistake because the price was so low. After paying, was driving off the lot and immediately noticed a huge difference - it rode much smoother. The next day, researched the tire brand thinking with such a low price, it was a bad brand - only to discover that the brand is a recognized one and of high quality; additionally, the specific tire's description specifies that it is made for snow, rain, and for off road. I love, love, love Piedmont Tire & Auto. The professionals are incredibly good, attentative, and polite. One recommendation is to either drop it off or Uber somewhere while waiting. Though they are efficient and operate, smoothly, they have a constant flow of customers. They appreciate buffer time to accommodate everyone.

Questioning why an intact part was replaced will get you "fired as a customer". If you want to have the same issue regarding tire vibration that cut through 3 pairs of tires in around 2 years, go to piedmont. If you want to be told its balancing, no its alignment, no now 3/4 of your rims are magically bent the day after we replace and rotate your tires even though we stated the bend was not there when you brought it in 4-5 months prior but its absolutely not our fault and is "impossible" for it to be, go to piedmont and lastly, if you want your father repeatedly implied to be giving "bad advice" .. because i guess a young woman cant ask questions of her own accord regarding HER car.,. based upon a singular, previous appt where my father questioned why a perfectly intact oil pan (which now his oil leak is WORSE after going there AND they put regular oil in instead of full synthetic???) was replaced and charged, go to piedmont!!! Not just haymarket piedmont- all piedmonts! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for a long, long while, even referring my family there given their cult following- but 2 years later, at least 4 pairs of tire purchases later... i have the same problem i walked in with years ago, and now the owner, John, utilizes his platform of 33,000 locals to villainize prior customers, make personal attacks, and cruel allegations. Of note: John frequently offers money up for anyone to grab regarding either tire service, coffee, etc. If you contact him about this, he will warp it as asking for handouts. Also, on the very large facebook forum, the group rules state fundraisers must be approved by admin (him). If you ask him to post a medical fundraiser for medical equipment (saving a sick service dog), he will again warp it as asking for handouts to the public. He will then utilize his platform of 30k locals to bash previous customers- including posting their picture with name calling and cruel accusations. This is the caliber of businessman you are dealing with.

They asked me to come in so they could look at it, as Atlases have a couple of versions, and they wanted to verify the setup. I came in, they pulled the wheels and told me the price (much better, 30% lower), but that I should wait 5k miles, that there was plenty of life left, and it would certainly pass inspection. No charge for the inspection. I was fully ready to do the job. I am impressed by their honesty and will return for the job in a few months.

This review has been a long time coming. Ive been coming here for a while because of connivence…read moreand for certain repairs they are the only game in town. I'd really like to specify, but I don't put personal info on the internet at all. The positive- they get work done in a timely manner and they are up front about pricing... usually. They did quote me a price on an OEM item they had to order for me and the bill came back almost $100 higher for that item that i could have picked up myself. The negative- their prices are astronomical! Ive been quoted repairs at this place and ended up going to another local shop and saving sometimes over $1000. One thing that always drove me nuts about this place is their fee for "miscellaneous shop supplies". For a repair under $1000 they'll charge nearly $100 for shop supplies. I've been in service industries my entire life and $15 I understand, which is what most places will charge, but not near $100. How much can a few sprays of PB Blaster, some shop towels and maybe a couple of washers or bolts cost them? Pricing- So their online estimates show one price. After you approve the estimate the link that comes to your phone completely disappears never to be seen again. My last visit was estimated at one price and the actual bill when received was $500 more. Understood, this is an estimate, but if there are further repairs necessitating more funding, especially that much, should be authorized by the customer. In my case, there was no further repairs, the bill just completely changed. Sabotage- I brought something in for one repair and something else comes out needing repair. No way in hell they're ever touching my stuff again! I'd really like to give specifics, but I can't. Dishonest- Part of one of my repairs was redoing a previous repair that they were charging me for again. What they don't know is, despite appearing to be older and wealthy is I used to be a mechanic, but im too old, too tired and too busy to do this kind of work myself anymore. I went under my vehicle to physically see the repair just to find out they didn't even do it. My other major gripe is that Ive gone here for inspections a few times and they love to fail you for dumb stuff, which I get upselling, but making things up to purposely fail people at an inspection to make a few extra bucks is taking advantage of customers plain and simple. We rely on our cars and these people know damn well you're going to pay to get your car back on the road ASAP, but they dont check their previous records before sticking it to you. What i mean is, multiple times they've failed me on items they supposedly repaired the previous year so i end up paying a few hundred dollars for a repair more than once in a 12 month period that should have lasted 10 years plus. Why? Because they never fixed the problem to begin with. Jerry rigging something with a $.30 part, charging $300+ then calling it fixed is not a repair because they know it's going to have an issue again. Maybe they'll call it planned obsolescence, but a half donkey fix is just ripping you off. Im officially done with this place though. At this point I'll drive out of my way for the specialty repairs i was still going to them for. Im hot right now! I don't like leaving negative reviews though in this case this is probably the most important review I've ever left at any business ever. Im hoping this is will others to stay the heck away from here.
