Scott and Saintly Services is AMAZING and here is why you should dump your old auto guy for Saintly…read moreScott...For context I have a 2009 Acura I bought in 2008 (1st one on the lot) and has alot of Haymarket to DC mileage on it. To me a car should look good, get me from point a to b, and never leave me stranded (same criteria for a man...lol). I do know the value of money (because I want to keep as much of mine that I can for shoes) and know when I am being taken advantage of (I am not ignorant about cars, just too lazy to shop around). I need my car to run so I do what the auto place says and shell out my shoe budget to get it done. That was BEFORE Saintly Scott! I wish I had known him years ago because I would have sooooo many more shoes in my closet. All my life I have been taken advantage of at car places. In particular, for 6 years I was taking my car to the Acura dealership (not to be named...20 minutes east of haymarket off rt 50) and getting raked over the coals with high prices, fixes that didn't last and subpar parts that were defective including old tires that would dry rot in a year (yea every year i had to replace them...I assumed it was my commute). How do I know they were selling me bad tires...because Scott showed me how to read the numbers on a tire to know when it was manufactured so I would never have that problem again!!! While Scott is extremely knowledgeable about cars...all kinds of cars from vintage to future tech.... what's most important is that he is HONEST! He actually educates me (to the degree I am interested) on what is wrong with my car, what parts are broken, how they work, etc. And in a ways that I can understand and lookup if I wanted to verify it. Alos, I have never encountered someone who will provide me with an honest suggestion on what should be fixed on my car and what can wait a while. Also, he charges a fair price for parts and labor (honestly he could charge more and it would still be more than fair) On a side note the education I received to date is worth more than I paid to fix my car. At the dealership I was paying $3K to 5K a year in maintenance BUT the last two years I have spent only $300 in normal maintenance/repairs going to Saintly Scott. I love my experience so much I am thinking of buying a used car instead of a new one because I know I will be able to have someone honest maintain it for me. Please give him a try even if it is just and oil change....you will keep him forever!

Garage door closed (it was winter) but clearly marked for inspections. Realized later that there was a big vehicle parked in front of the entrance with the name of the company. That door is to the right of the garage door. Interesting waiting room. Lots of antiques to look at. Creepy dolls, age old magazines, Christmas decorations, and piles of 8-tracks! The wait was very entertaining!! Great music while you wait too!!! Everyone super friendly. Inspection was $20. I'll be back in a year :)

Headline: Tax Evasion Tactics and Dishonest Pricing - Avoid This Shop!…read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this shop. They use classic bait-and-switch tactics to avoid taxes and overcharge customers. Initially, they quoted me a ridiculous $930 for labor on my Lexus ES350, then offered to "lower" it to $790 only if I paid in CASH. This is clearly a tactic to avoid taxes while still charging premium rates. I provided all my own parts (spark plugs and two catalytic converters). Even though they only installed ONE of the two converters, they still forced me to pay the full "cash price" we had discussed for the entire job. When I asked about the second converter--which is a simple 30-minute job in the front of the engine--the mechanic tried to extort another $350 from me! To make it worse, the mechanic lied to my face about the technical difficulty of the job to justify his price hiking, claiming the rear catalyst is easier to access than the front one (a blatant lie to anyone who knows Lexus engines). These people are not honest mechanics; they are predators looking for cash-heavy transactions. The shop is empty for a reason. Check the other reviews--I'm not the only one they've tried to scam. Do yourself a favor and go to a professional shop that accepts cards and provides honest estimates.

Piedmont Tire and Auto has my complete trust. Had purchased tires from them many years ago. Was…read morerecently told that I needed new tires, went to the usual tire places, received quotes and then remembered them. I called, told them the make, model, and wanted something good in snow, rain, and off road (for a Jeep). They answered a few questions, ordered the tires, I scheduled the appointment, got them put on, and when I went to pay thought it was a mistake because the price was so low. After paying, was driving off the lot and immediately noticed a huge difference - it rode much smoother. The next day, researched the tire brand thinking with such a low price, it was a bad brand - only to discover that the brand is a recognized one and of high quality; additionally, the specific tire's description specifies that it is made for snow, rain, and for off road. I love, love, love Piedmont Tire & Auto. The professionals are incredibly good, attentative, and polite. One recommendation is to either drop it off or Uber somewhere while waiting. Though they are efficient and operate, smoothly, they have a constant flow of customers. They appreciate buffer time to accommodate everyone.

Questioning why an intact part was replaced will get you "fired as a customer". If you want to have the same issue regarding tire vibration that cut through 3 pairs of tires in around 2 years, go to piedmont. If you want to be told its balancing, no its alignment, no now 3/4 of your rims are magically bent the day after we replace and rotate your tires even though we stated the bend was not there when you brought it in 4-5 months prior but its absolutely not our fault and is "impossible" for it to be, go to piedmont and lastly, if you want your father repeatedly implied to be giving "bad advice" .. because i guess a young woman cant ask questions of her own accord regarding HER car.,. based upon a singular, previous appt where my father questioned why a perfectly intact oil pan (which now his oil leak is WORSE after going there AND they put regular oil in instead of full synthetic???) was replaced and charged, go to piedmont!!! Not just haymarket piedmont- all piedmonts! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for a long, long while, even referring my family there given their cult following- but 2 years later, at least 4 pairs of tire purchases later... i have the same problem i walked in with years ago, and now the owner, John, utilizes his platform of 33,000 locals to villainize prior customers, make personal attacks, and cruel allegations. Of note: John frequently offers money up for anyone to grab regarding either tire service, coffee, etc. If you contact him about this, he will warp it as asking for handouts. Also, on the very large facebook forum, the group rules state fundraisers must be approved by admin (him). If you ask him to post a medical fundraiser for medical equipment (saving a sick service dog), he will again warp it as asking for handouts to the public. He will then utilize his platform of 30k locals to bash previous customers- including posting their picture with name calling and cruel accusations. This is the caliber of businessman you are dealing with.

Very honest, kept it simple, and didn't try to upsell. Bought another used Tundra that had some issues. Brought it to them and they figured out all my issues like new alternator, wheel bearing with all the fixings, and fixed the air vents not changing with the controls. They also gave me things to look out for when I asked what they think of the truck or if it's junk. They gave me price quotes for things I want to do in the future when I asked too. They may be a little pricey but they like using OEM parts for things that affect the engine or performance plus they warranty their work and are honest about it all. I like the invoice they send with pictures of things that concern them with their recommendations. And to the mechanic that worked on my truck. Sorry I didn't realize it was soo muddy underneath. You are awesome!

I took my vehicle to Gainesville Garage for a radiator and thermostat replacement, as well as an…read moreoil change. The day after picking it up, I found a puddle of oil in my driveway and active drips on every single oil pan bolt. I took it to a different garage, which performed a thorough degreasing and engine oil UV dye test. They found absolutely NO oil leaks (this is important later)--proving Gainesville Garage had simply spilled oil everywhere during the service. During that same visit, the second shop topped off my coolant, noting it might just be a lingering air pocket ("burp") from the radiator and thermostat job, but told me to keep an eye on it. Over the next two weeks, I had to refill my coolant reservoir 3 more times. After discussing with the second shop, they suggested I take it back to see if Gainesville garage would honor their work since this was likely still under warranty. They recommended I request a pressure test and/or a block test. I made an appointment to bring the vehicle back to Gainesville Garage on a Friday morning, specifically requesting a simple, non-invasive cooling system pressure test or block test. At drop-off, the manager, Ed, immediately became defensive and stated in an accusatory way that I had taken my vehicle somewhere else since my last visit. Despite his hostile attitude, I left it there when promised they would get it taken care of. By late Friday afternoon, I had heard nothing. I called to check in, and they claimed they had to "drive it for a while" to recreate the issue. When I asked why the requested pressure test hadn't been done, they claimed they were "planning to do that next" but would now need to hold my vehicle over the entire weekend. I left my vehicle all weekend, and Monday came. They were completely radio silent until nearly the close of business Monday evening. When they finally called, it wasn't with pressure test results, it was to tell me they had taken the intake manifold apart and that I was leaking both oil and coolant into the engine valley (remember the other shop did a UV dye test and found no leaks). Along with this was a $3,000 repair pitch stating I needed a brand-new oil cooler assembly, valve cover gaskets, a PCV valve, and spark plugs. I immediately stopped him. I stated that I never authorized my engine's intake manifold to be torn apart. I reiterated that this was explicitly supposed to be a standard pressure test or block test so I could get an estimate if it wasn't related to the previous work, and that they had now held my vehicle for four days with nearly zero communication and no loaner vehicle. I told him flat out that I did not have $3,000 and instructed him to put my vehicle back together. When I asked what they thought I owed for this unauthorized work, they replied: "Nothing." On Monday morning I was notified my vehicle had been put back together and was ready for pickup. I knew they slapped it back together since I refused the repairs so I called and Ed answered. I asked him if the truck was good to go and he said yes. I asked if they had reused the old gaskets or put on new ones and he tried to say they hadn't taken the manifold off. I said "Oh, really?" (I had the estimate with pictures of it off. those are attached to this review for you to see too.) Ed played coy and said he would go check. When he came back he said "No sir, we didn't" I asked him to clarify as his answer was unclear as to whether they had used new or old gaskets. Ed said they did not use new parts because I refused all work. I told him I had not authorized any of the work they chose to do. He said "Come on man, we were trying to help you out!". I said by forcing me into work I can't afford to do right now. I then said "You and I both know you aren't supposed to use the old gaskets". The moment I called Ed out on this, he completely snapped. Ed started yelling at me over the phone, told me he was "done with me," (No Ed, you aren't) and screamed at me to come get my truck. They blatantly violated the Virginia Automobile Repair Facilities Act [59.1-207.3]. Reusing those gaskets isn't just severe mechanical negligence that would almost certainly introduce vacuum leaks if I had driven it. It is actively sabotaging the vehicle because I refused the unauthorized work. I refused to drive it and instead had flatbed tow it directly to a trusted shop to have the issue addressed. Which it was, for substantially less money. Gainesville Garage stalls you, holds your vehicle hostage, performs unauthorized work, breaks the law and uses predatory practices to scare people into authorizing repairs. Ed is by far the most unprofessional mechanic/shop manager I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with and when they have your vehicle held hostage, there isn't much you can do. But now, I have my vehicle back...and there is quite a lot I can do.
