Cathleen Vicini (owner) is a delight to visit with, not just about wines but her dogs, parrot, the Italian influence in their wines (her husband), much more... I'm just a good ole boy, wino in training, having moved here about a month ago from Silicon Valley (no place for ole men any-longer). The Trecini experience is different from what tourists seem to gravitate to, you know the disneyesque/romantic vision of a winery. Trecini is a tasting boutique where one enjoys privacy along with personal attention. Plenty of time for questions from a master at the trade. Tasting only whites, as red's chemical additives trigger a migraine, Cathleen pointed out many of their wines come from Italy with "no" additives. This led to me tasting one of their wonderful reds with no reaction. There was also a very interesting surprise when she introduced me to their Sparkling Rockpile Zinfandel. They partner with Mumm to produce this fun, delicious wine. I'm committed to the claims, purchased some. Where are they; Located on what some might call a side street from Downtown Santa Rosa. We have been wine club members for awhile, and have visited H&L countless times over the years, so we knew that hosting our rehearsal event here was the perfect choice! Devin, who helped us book, plan and host the event, went above and beyond for us in every way. He could not have made this event more stress-free for us, and he's also just an amazing guy who provided an awesome energy during our event (our guests loved talking to him and learning about the winery). Our ~70ish guests fit perfectly on the lawn and the team made the space feel intimate and beautifully arranged for our group. They let us not only arrive early to set up, but they graciously let us stay a little later when we lost track of time from having too much fun. We love Hook and Ladder even more now than we already did, and highly recommend hosting your next event in your beautiful space!!!

I thought the price tag of 30pp they would not be so stingy...and we did purchase a few bottles but there was no discount on the tastings even for that. I would highly encourage you to go elsewhere if you want to get a proper tasting. This place is just not the same as it was....what a pity.

They explained our tasting options and since we hadn't been there before we decided to go with the one that had more of a variety. It did not disappoint. The wines were all excellent and I walked away with a few of them. They were making pizza in their own pizza oven today- however for a 10 inch pizza I thought $22 was a little bit much. There are definitely a nice variety of Pinot's offered. However, I was in the mood for something chilled and I opted for their Rose of Pinot. I was pleased with the size of the pour but not sure I would order that variety again. Through April 19 this winery is offering a complementary tasting for 2 so we took advantage of it as my friend had never been there. I was happy that we were able to bring in a few little snacks of our own. Someone wineries do not allow that. Jen was our server and was quite hospitable- she allowed my friend and I to choose where we'd like to sit and thank goodness there's a big canopy because rain was threatening any moment. We ended up tasting about six wines, which I thought was impressive. Both of our favorites were the Brut bubbles and the Zinfandel from Russian River Valley. The views are spectacular from here. I've only been in the summer before, so we sat outside on the deck overlooking the property. The bathrooms are close by and quite clean. As there's been a lot of rain lately, the mile .4 drive up to the top of the wine tasting area was extremely muddy. However, I didn't realize how muddy until we sat down and noticed mud on our pants I suppose from getting out of my car. When I arrived home, I could not believe how much mud was on the side of my car, my tires & my wheel wells. Perhaps the owners could put some more gravel down? I do know that I wouldn't drive up this road in the future after it's been rainy. But all in all a delightful experience. In the past, I've used the hiking trails, which are really nice. However, you need to be a club member to do so and I was with someone who belonged to their wine club. As we've had rain on and off the last few days. I expected some mud but I will say the 1.4 mile drive to the top of the winery was extremely muddy. We didn't notice until we sat down that we had mud on our pants.
