If you LOVE Vietnamese food , get your ASS to the OC asap ! Orange Grove is a well ---- known Cali - Vietnamese Mecca of incredible Vietnamese cuisine & Saigon Vegan is just one of the treasures. Crazy flavor and Spice upon request you will crave indefinitely. This isn't just a " vegan " lovers spot , it's so good your carnivorous friends and veggie curious friends will enjoy . The portobello mushroom appetizer has THE PERFECT CRUNCH and the Pho ( spicy and regular ) are both delicious. Honestly you can't really order wrong here . The vegan ham is made "in house ". You can't beat the service either . The family ran business also owns the non - vegan Vietnamese restaurant down the road ... "fire pho " . One of the best vegan Vietnamese coffees I've ever had !

Tucked in the McFadden Shop strip. A vast variety of menu items to choose from! Out out time - 10 minutes Definitely recommend their Portobello Tenders 5/5 perfectly crispy and paired well with the aioli sauce. The SGV banh mi was excellent. It's very dense sized sandwich. I don't know if the hash brown is meant to be a filler, but I had to remove it only because of contrast. Ended up eating half a sandwich and 2 tenders which filled my appetite. Would come back even though I don't eat vegan food often.

Oh wow the portabello tenders are divine!! ($8) There is about five large tenders in an order. Juicy, crisp, and flavorful and take it up a notch with the garlic aioli sauce. My only comment is that it's a bit too crisp, fried any longer and it would've cut the roof of my mouth.

A hidden gem or best kept secret (?). A quiet and cozy Vietnamese/French influenced spot with friendly service tucked away in an area where there are several vegetarian options. It is said by those that claim to know that the key to widely adopted vegetarian/vegan food is the seasoning, texture, and attention to detail in preparation. This is true of Saigon Vegan (meat substitutes made in-house). Even if you are not a vegan/vegetarian, you never miss the 'meat' experience. We lean towards the Lo Mein ( better that most non- vegan/vegetarian versions), the French influenced 'meatball beef' stew with carrot and potato - so tasty that you have to 'clean' the bowl with your french bread side, and the breaded mushrooms (legendary) - if you know, you know. I have a personal obsession for their Bah Mi sandwich as well. Its not traditional as its made with thinly sliced 'deli meat' - again, more French influenced. The first time I had it, my wife didn't tell me that it was vegan until it was utterly devoured - and I didn't care as it stands on its own as just 'damn good' An open mind leads to a well-lived life.

This was our second time here, and I was happy to have found this place again based on our first experience. The deep fried portobello mushrooms with aioli sauce is to die for! Amazing crispy deep fry that it tastes just like fried chicken, lol. We also had the best noodle dish with homemade tofu! It was delightful! The flan (made of soy), tasted better than the egg flan, not even joking! We got to meet the friendly staff of Daisy Duke & Vy...whom we found genuinely friendly and helpful. This place is a hidden gem in Garden Grove for Vegan!s!

Fabulous Flan

I had the stir fry garlic noodles with tofu and veggies, passion fruit juice and the fabulous flan. All yummy and fabulous! There wasn't anything left on my noodle plate. I should have taken a second dish to go for later! There were plenty of seats on a rainy Saturday at 2pm. The staff were very friendly and I'd definitely come here again.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST VEGAN FLAN!
V T.

A solid 5/5! Every dish I have tried has been absolutely delicious. The food is fresh and consistently excellent. The staff is always kind, helpful, patient while ordering, and efficient with the food. The Portobello Tenders are a must-try, but the standout for me, especially as someone with a sweet tooth, is the Flan. I try flan at every restaurant that offers it, and this is hands down the best vegan flan I have ever had. The texture and sweetness are absolutely superb. Highly recommend!

One of the best Vietnamese vegan restaurants! It's a small family owned spot. Service is great! I've been here a couple of times now and every dish I've tried has been delicious! No complaints! My fav appetizer is the portobello mushrooms! So good!

Sharona M.

Amazing! Best vegan food I've had in a while. I was recommended to come try SAIGON because I was in the area and I would make the hour plus drive just to have this food again. It's a lovely small family owned business and the service was great! They really treat you like family! The portobello mushroom appetizer was outstanding and the soups were fantastic too! We ended up taking a bunch of items to go and they were great when we ate them later too! The restaurant itself is quant and in a small strip mall. Plenty of parking!

Second time coming here and everything was amazing. A must order are the portobello mushrooms - perfectly breaded and crispy and paired with the aioli is a match made in heaven! For my entree I had the bun thit nuong with egg rolls and it was so hearty but light. I don't know how they make vegan nuoc mam but it was delicious! Service is always great and it's a quaint space in general :)

Portobello Tenders with Garlic Aioli
Jennifer D.

I'm not vegan, but I tried this place with my vegan cousin and was genuinely impressed. The Portobello Tenders were super crispy and full of flavor, and the garlic aioli was the perfect match. The prices are affordable, portions are filling, and you can even add spice to dishes like the Stir Fry Garlic Noodles for an extra kick. Even if you're not vegan, this spot is definitely worth a visit.

The owner had a big smile when we came in. This family restaurant immediately reminded me of my own home. We liked all the dishes ordered. The soups were so delicious and nutritious. And the crispy tofu was also fantastic. I will come back to support and try more dishes. The place is also cute and family style. You will find some interesting signs in the bathroom as well. Good spot!!!

This place USED to be good a few years ago. Not sure what happened but wow... the Pad Thai was the most disgusting thing ever!!! Had to spit it out a few times. I really tried to eat it because I hate wasting food and money. The sauce tasted old and inedible... the noodles were clumped up which is normal I guess for these types of noodles but there were so many lemon seeds in it which is ridiculous!!! The vegan chicken was decent... I'm just surprised they would serve something like this to their customers! So disappointed.

The crispy Vietnamese eggrolls were also a first and it was great! The meaty and crispiness of the eggrolls eaten like a lettuce wrap with the nuoc Cham sauce was delicious. This place always seems to be busy and rushed and can get a bit loud but the service is always great. They have a bar where you can grab some drinks while you wait. Their lychee martini is good. We prefer this location compare to the other one because it has faster service, quieter romantic atmosphere and polite attentive staff.

Food Bánh Mì Pate Que (2) - $5.99 Served as two pieces, this Hải Phòng-style bánh mì came with pate, shredded pork, and a house chili sauce. Bánh Ướt Đặc Biệt - $14.50 Steamed rice sheets topped with pork patties, fried tofu, and fresh vegetables, served with a house fish sauce. The sauce leaned light and slightly sweet, which may appeal to some but felt a bit mild overall. Bún Chả Hà Nội - $16.50 Rice vermicelli served with grilled pork, pork patties, fresh herbs, and house fish sauce. Similar to the other dish, the sauce was on the lighter side in terms of flavor. Over all those years, they have never disappointed me and continue to serve really good food. I usually get the beef brisket pho and it's really good. The noodles are just the right texture, the broth is clean and flavorful, and the meat tastes fresh and tender. Their dui bo is also very good, but usually runs out after 1:00 or 2:00 pm, since they only have a limited amount of this item every day. The meat is fall off the bone tender and has a more fatty flavor to it. It usually sits in some broth that absorbs that beefy and fatty flavor from the bone. A great addition to any bowl of pho. Alternatively, I sometimes also get the bun thit nuong and it's very good. The eggrolls it comes with is wrapped with rice paper, so when it's fried up, it has such a satisfying crunch and texture to it. The thit nuong is has a nice smokey, grilled flavor to it. The shrimps are okay as well. This is a very satisfying and filling dish, so if you're looking for a high volume dish, this may be the one to get. Expect long lines during peak hours. I can confirm though that the wait is worth it! Service is always very good. The ambiance on the inside is fine, very plain and unassuming in my opinion. The standout for me was the flaming wagyu ($18), torched tableside. For how thick the cut was, it was incredibly tender and soft. Definitely go medium rare. The ponzu dipping sauce really enhances the richness of the beef. We also tried the shaken beef ($21), which came with plenty of caramelized onions and bell peppers that added a subtle sweetness.
