Amazing lunch buffet, very reasonably priced, and constantly changing. Dinner is slightly higher in price, but just as worth it. The food tastes authentic and expertly prepared. read more

YUM! Some of the best Indian food in the area, well worth it for lunch or dinner. Tikka Masala and Korma are favorites of mine!

I'm in a rush so I'll do a quick review. The food was wonderful & there is something for everyone on the menu. I should have taken a picture of the Tandoori Mix Grill but I didn't want to be one of "those" people. ;) Our server was fast, attentive and happily answered any questions we had. I'll definitely be going back to Saffron. read more

I've lived in several big cities and eaten at countless Indian places. Wasn't expecting this place to be that great but it blew my mind. Their saag and mutter are done correctly (without drenching in cream sauce), the complimentary stuffed dosa is amazing (weekend only I'm guessing), and everything in general was crazy good. Next time I'm anywhere near here I'm bookmarking this place....wish there was a place this good down in Charlotte... read more

A Jewel in the Rough! This is the best kept secret in Middletown. The location in a strip mall made me think this place was going to be a dive but the inside is equivalent to a 5 star hotel. Have gone there for dinner seven times now and each time is an amazing adventure in taste and service. I have heard the lunch buffet is pretty good, but that it just can't compare to the quality of the dinners which are specially prepared for each guest. read more

I went to saffron with a group of friends for a birthday dinner... I was overly impressed with every aspect of of our experience. The prices on the menu are reasonably priced, the food was absolutely amazing, and the service was above and beyond. I will continue to frequent this restaurant, I encourage anyone who is interested in trying or enjoyed Indian cuisine to dine at this location, you will not be disappointed !!! 5 stars! read more

Wow, this place is awesome. We eat here about once a month and love it, the food and spices create a mouthgasim that leaves you mellow and satiated for hours after you eat it. read more

GREAT food and Fresh. Good service. Glad to have such an amazing restaurant in Middletown!!!

Love this place! Go there weekly, the waiters are friendly and it is always comfortable and clean. Have had the buffet once and it is delicious wish I could make it there more often it's a great way to try the food and get a small taste of everything. Usually we have dinner with waiter service, the food is always delicious I highly recommend trying the Kashmiri naan it is a little bit sweet and savory. My go to dish is the matter paneer but everything I've ordered is delicious (I've ordered almost ever vegetarian dish on the menu and all area delicious) read more

I used to enjoy going there. It has changed. I won't eat there any longer. It was an upsetting experience. I ordered a rice dish with vegetables and nuts in it. When the dish arrived, not many vegetables (mostly a plate of rice) and there were no nuts. The waitress, at first, was in denial. I showed her the menu, which described the dish as vegetables and cashew nuts (main ingredient) mixed into the rice. She then went to the kitchen, got a small dish. A few crumbs of nuts were in it and walked away. She was pleasant, but I couldn't believe she's bringing me what looked like a few broken nuts, that it wasn't even 1/8 teaspoon worth. I waited to eat, to show her how it looked on my food. Again, I told her the reason I got the dish was for the description on the menu of vegetables and nuts. She apologized, went back to the kitchen, and got me another 'tiny' portion of nuts. I suggested that they update their menu description of the food. - Then when I got the bill, there was a place to write in your tip. I wrote in my tip (20%). I gave her my credit card, with the tip itemized / included, and when she brings me back my credit card, with the total (should only now be for a signature), they asked AGAIN for a tip. That is fraud. I left 20% originally (itemized), and the total should have only been for a signature, but it was a totaled amount (tax and tip were already added into total) and then it shows total and asks AGAIN for a tip (a 2nd time). I showed this to the waitress, expressing that I already added in the tip, now it is asking again where I should only be signing my name, and she apologized. - It has been many months since I was there, so I can't remember what else took place, but I refuse to go back. BOTH THE MENU DESCRIPTION AND THE BILL WERE DECEIVING. read more

I have had the worst imaginable food experience at this place. Me and my wife went there to have dinner and ordered masala dosa and couple of other appetizers. When we received the food the chutney was literally frozen. We could not even stick the fork inside it. So we called the waitress and sent it back . We had another surprise waiting for us. Potatoes inside the dosa were also frozen and smelt funny. We paid $42 for the dinner that can not be fed to even animals. All they serve is frozen food. Funny part is they don't even try to make sure that they heat it up properly. Health department should make a visit to them and make sure they don't serve stale food to people and spread an epidemic. The waitress was really nice. That is the only positive thing they have which gives them 1 star. When she found out we did not eat anything we ordered she asked us if the food was ok. We showed her what was going on . She went inside to speak to the manager but the manager did not even have the courtesy to come to the table and apologize to us for sending us stale food and taking our money. read more

we've been loyal saffron fans for 3 yrs. now. always excellent food and terrific service. we even spent our mother's day there a few years ago. wonderful buffet. but recently, we had a very bad experience on a friday night. we arrived and the server began to seat us in the middle of their huge dining room in a clot of large tables with lots of people. they had plenty of room on the outer edges of the dining room. we were only three and asked the server to find us a wall table, but he started to object and we just went ahead and sat where he placed us, squeezed between 2 tables of large family groups. once we ordered, it was 40 minutes before our food came out. we had the classic situation of having a couple who came in after us served first. we were not really very happy once the food was served. they seemed to be making the fatal rookie mistake of catering to the larger groups. we ordered the paratha and it came sliced in two pieces for 3 people. we asked to get more, and were told that is how it is, too bad for us. now this is really not typical. they usually heap the bread basket full. i looked at my husband and told him, "forget it, they're arguing with you over a piece of bread." then check time, another 20 minutes while we waited for that. every restaurant has a bad night. i understand that. but we are used to such quality service at saffron that i was appalled. if you go to this restaurant for their food, my advice is never to go on a weekend night. they clearly have lost all consideration for their customers during the times that they are busy. saffron needs to learn that they are not the only game in town these days. two other indian places have opened, one in new windsor and one in monroe. both serve decent food, not to saffron's standards, but it'll do in a pinch when you're craving indian. they'll get my business over the next year. saffron, three strikes, and you're out. it's gonna be a long time before i see you again. read more

Fantastic buffet. I was never a great fan of Indian cuisine until I started to go to Saffron. This restaurant is very good and the buffet is a great deal. read more

An excellent indian restaurant - the food was great and very comparable to some of the best indian restaurants in nyc and nj. there were many north indian style curries as well as many south-indian dishes like biriyani and traditional kerala style curries. They can adjust the spiciness according to your needs. The portion size and the tastes were just perfect. The staff were polite and the service was very good. Overall, its a very nice restaurant that indians and americans will enjoy alike. Highly recommended if you are in the mood for some indian food. read more

Stopped here with a friend after seeing a movie this past weekend. I wasn't familiar with the place but was very pleasantly surprised. The interior is classy and tastefully decorated. Their menu had many tasty options and had clearly marked sections for vegetarian food. Win! (Me and my friend are both vegetarians). When we ordered our entrees we were asked if we wanted the spice level to be mild, medium or spicy, which I thought was nice. Most other Indian places I have been to don't ask your preference. Everything we ordered was very tasty. I don't come to Middletown often but next time I do, I will definitely return. read more

I was very very disappointed with my food from here last night, which is a surprise because I brag about this place to everyone. I walked into this establishment around 9:25pm and I specifically asked the gentlemen were they still taking orders to go because I knew they closed at 10. He looked right at me and said yes with a confused look on his face so I asked again and he said yes. I told him if its too late we will be more then happy to come another day and he said no its okay really. So we put in an order for two entrees right away since we knew what we wanted prior to arriving there, and he offered us a seat at the bar to wait for our food. As we're waiting another man comes from the back and sees us and immediately gets pissed and starts talking to the gentlemen who was serving us in their language.. so now we are extremely uncomfortable, so I spoke up and said you know what guys honestly we wouldnt mind coming back another time because your boss seems pissed we dont want any problems and we really dont want to be feeling uncomfortable, and again the guy reassured us that it was okay and that it was his fault not ours because he didnt look at the time before he told us he could take our orders, and the kitchen closed at 9:30. So I left it alone and waited patiently, but while doing so the boss or who ever the mad guy was just keep lurking by the bar looking at us with this stern pissed off look, but i ignored him and kept waiting lol. Sooooo now this is the fun part! We get home and the food is horrible. The meat was chewy as if it was under cooked and the sauce had no flavor or taste what so ever. If they weren't willing to give us the service or food quality a paying customer deserves, they should have declined to serve us especially since I asked multiple times! So to me theres no excuse! read more

i'm not very familiar with this kind of food, so I can't compare it to any other restaurant but I liked it and staff was very nice.

So let me start by saying that this use to be one of my favorite restaurants and I've been going here since 2009 and when my wife was pregnant we ordered from here pick up every weekend...well something seriously changed. Last night we ordered pick up and couldn't wait to get it home. Our panner chili appetizer looked different than it ever had and was obviously prepared by someone who had no training or experience but tasted okay. We both ordered chicken jalfrezi as our dinner (which I have ordered several times previously) and it was absolutely DISGUSTING! It was the wrong color and was swimming in oil, the chicken was far from fresh and tasted stewed like it was leftovers from their lunch buffet, and it tasted like they had dumped an entire salt shaker into the food. There were no other detectable flavors except massive amounts of salt. And then if that wasn't bad enough my wife found a piece of PLASTIC in her food!!!! It was like the plastic corner of a food package that got cut off and then dumped in her food! We had to throw out our dinners but both still felt sick! I feel betrayed by Saffron and don't know how I'll ever return. read more
