New favorite restaurant in Oklahoma!!! I've lived in the Middle East and I can tell you this place is an absolute gem for the very healthy ancient cuisine. The greedy part of me thought I shouldn't review this place because the food is so good I don't want the quality compromised by too much customer service but the food has literally compelled me to write this. Friday evening 6:30pm: the place doesn't have a single chair available, tabouli is sold out. Plan accordingly. The Mezza Platter & the Shish Kebab are winners! The tenderloin shish kebab was the best I've EVER had! The tzatziki cucumber yogurt dip was perfectly thick...not runny like other inferior restaurants. The cabbage roll was surprisingly pleasant. I liked the herb olive oil dizzle over the hummus and eggplant dip. I also enjoyed the subtle hint of charred eggplant in the background of the dip. My group visited for the Vegan Chef Challenge. My eggplant entree was vegan AF and delicious in the same way. We're a sharing is caring group and I sampled from the other vegan items ordered. The falafel was great, the red onion and cabbage salad was great, and the red lentil soup was sooo good. The meaty meats agreed and enjoyed their vegan, vegetarian, and meat options as well. The ambiance is decorated in a quaint and simple manner, making it ideal for those wanting to expand their palate without being overwhelmed, or for a quick bite during lunch. The ambience was nice. I actually enjoyed the old time music they play. We started with the baba ghanoush & pita. Very fresh and the pita was warm. Two of us had the Saffron Combo Platter. I can recommend it, the meat was well seasoned and a good sized serving. Wait staff took care of us. I'd give 4.5 stars but I can't give a half star haha. Only reason not 5 stars is because my red wine was served cold which just means someone in the bar doesn't realize you serve red wine at room temperature. I'd like to see this restaurant in a different location as I don't think very many people know about it. read more

Mediterranean cuisine is one of my favorites, and this is absolutely the best I've ever had (I've had a *lot*). The location is so unassuming in a small older strip mall. They've really done so much with it, the ambience was more upscale than I expected. I felt underdressed in my athletic clothes (we came after an athletic event), but it was between meal times so not many people were there. The service was attentive and professional but still personable. This would be great for a nice quiet dinner out. Very relaxing vibe. The food is astoundingly good. I'm confident that anything you try will be great, but we especially enjoyed the hummus, herb soup, skewer platter, veggie platter, cabbage rolls, and rose cake. Everything is so authentically fresh and packed with flavor. Best dolma and tahini sauce *ever* - the value of what you get here is a steal. WOW and yum!! My husband and I visited Saffron Mediterranean for dinner on Saturday and had a GREAT experience! We started off with hummus to share and it was delicious - homemade, fresh, and exactly what we were wanting. I ordered the Gyro Wrap for dinner and my husband ordered the Walnut Stew with chicken. Both of our dishes came out warm and cooked to perfectly! Our waiter was super friendly and the service was great! The restaurant itself isn't anything fancy, but comes with perfect casual ambiance. A small number of us go to different restaurants each Wednesday in the Tulsa area and this review is for Saffron at 32nd and Harvard in Tulsa. I thought because it was early July and hot that our group would only be 12 people and it turned out to be 20. We didn't know because people just kept showing up one by one even a little late. The restaurant handled it perfectly adding tables two different times in the middle of the meal quickly. The food was wonderful. The hummus and Pita bread was an excellent sharable and was topped with their house-made Persian dressing as well as the cabbage roll appetizer. The rolls were well made but were really too large to share well. We ordered a wide variety that included everything from Braised Lamb shank ($26) to the Saffron combo plate (with three different meats ($22) to my Shish Kabob of perfectly cooked beef tenderloin ($18). The salads were a work of art of bowls made of lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. The basmati rice was an excellent side dish. The saffron chicken was probably the hit of the menu for us. The lamb strips from the Gyro platter were a close second. I would clearly order my beef Kabob again. To my disappointment it did not come on a stick. I always believe that stick food like corndogs or popsicle are fun. The best part was how they handled a large party of twenty people with separate checks. When you needed to go you just went to the cash register and paid quickly. They didn't have all the checks come out at the same time and it allowed some to leave early and others later with no issue. The staff was gracious and the manager explained all the dishes well before we ordered. They only have a limited selection of beers and wines but the wines were well- received by the wine snobs in our group. They also have a nice quiet vibe and have a happy hour on food and drink from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm. I will return. read more

One of our favorite locally owned spots in Tulsa. The food is excellent every time. We absolutely love the shirazi as a starter. The pita bread that comes with it is the thinner variety. For lunch I usually get the chicken kabob platter, which comes with their amazing rice and a small salad. Perfect amount of food. The gyros are also very good. For something special, the fesenjoon (walnut stew with chicken and pomegranate) is delightful. And the zereshk polo is my absolute favorite thing on the menu, unless she is doing her special stuffed peppers (off menu special and the best I've ever had). Service is friendly. The restaurant itself is not fancy but it's quiet and the music selection ( often jazz) adds to the ambience. Definitely worth a visit! read more

While the food is delicious, it was severely overshadowed by the multiple disappointments we witnessed and experienced. We walked in the restaurant at 7:25 and the man who ended up being our server exclaimed, "Oh! You just made it!" Then, explained they stop seating at 7:30. This was a bit surprising to us, but we sat and ordered water and the sampler appetizer. At 7:32, a group of 3 people walked in and they were turned away. The "Open" lit sign remained on. At 7:40, a couple walked in and they were turned away. The "Open" lit sign remained on. After ordering a bottle of wine for 3 of the 4 of us, my husband asked for hot tea. He was told they had already poured the hot tea out for the night. How could you not have hot water for a tea bag? We were kind to our server, but after several "thank you"s, it was apparent he would not be saying "you're welcome". He knocked my knife off my appetizer plate and didn't comment. My husband's water glass remained empty for so long I had to take it to the counter to ask for more. Our server also came to the table to criticize my husband's sneeze and awkwardly told him to "knock it off!" They turned the very nice music off when we were half way through our entrees. There was one other table in the restaurant -- a family celebrating a birthday. They were offered baklava and they turned it down. After we finished dinner, we asked for baklava and he told them they were out but would have more tomorrow. It was the "cherry on top". They swept all around our table and sprayed cleaner all over while we were eating. I could only think of the dust and cleaning droplets that were landing on my plate. I come from a family of hospitality professionals and am very understanding of the difficulties that can come along with serving and running a restaurant. This poor service was just inexcusable. This is the reason why I haven't been to many Mediterranean restaurants. And no the meat do not taste like sweat. The beef kabob at this particularly restaurant is a little more "chewy" though. Some may prefer this while others may prefer softer meat. I like their rice and the pickled vegetables. They really go well with each other. I've been to other Mediterranean restaurants where the rice is wet and soggy and I hate that. It's funny I am even saying this because that's how Vietnamese rice is. No spreads or dipping sauce for the pita bread which is a bummer and literally they give you so little pita bread. read more

I can't stop thinking about the delicious meal I had from Saffron. It was truly some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had! (And I've had a lot!) Our group tried falafels, hummus, babaganoush, gyro, lamb shank, and the cabbage rolls. I loved all of it but my favorite might have been the babaganoush. It was more puréed than I've had from other places and had such a tasty garlicky flavor I didn't want to stop eating it. We also loved the saffron rice that came with the gyro. My friends and I didn't have much left, but we finished off the leftovers for breakfast the next day! (It was so good, we couldn't wait for lunch!) Went on a Friday night around 630pm. Dining area is low light and great for a date night. There was a couple two tables over that were loud and made it hard to have a conversation, but the other tables around us we could not hear or be bothered by. My boyfriend had the Koobideh Kabob, it was okay, there was not much flavor. I had the Gyro Platter; the meat was flavorful, and my boyfriend ended up eating off my plate. We both really enjoyed the rice and vegetables. He had a beer and I a glass of Prosecco and we spilt a piece of baklava, which was a little harder to chew than I expected. Our waitress was excellent and who I believe was the owner brought us water and took our drink order while we waited on our waitress. All and All we would like to try them again! read more

Ok so I've been dying to come here, so my husband finally suggested it this past weekend and of course did I stutter NOPE, got in the truck and flew there. The man that sat us is just lovely and attentive, our first and 2nd visit we were early afternoon so it was slow customer wise and this is the best time. The last time we visited I felt like other people had figured out our little secret as when we walked in the place was slammed. There is so much space this place would be perfect for intimate gatherings and bigger work parties too. Now the real gems are the service and food, I wished I remembered our servers name he is really sweet and kind. We started last time with hummus and pita and well you will not find a better hummus or pita in Tulsa, definitely scratch made! Now to the food, I had to get the kobideh wrap and chose fries, I chose wisely with that wrap, seasoned well and cooked to delicious the sauce it comes with is just lip smacking, I would put it on everything if I knew what was in it and how to make it, yes they should bottle it and sell it. Yessssssssss the fries were crispy and plentiful which is a huge win! My husband had the falafel wrap and the rice and the falafel is hands down the best in Tulsa, go ahead find out for yourself, I dare you. I almost ordered more falafel hummus and pita to take home and I definitely will next time. I continue to order the same thing every time but plan to start eating my way through the menu at some point, you ever find something so good that you don't mess with anything else that's how I feel about the kobideh wrap. I can say the entire place smelt amazing and everyone's plates that I could see coming out was beautiful and those who had already eaten had finished their plates and it wasn't that it wasn't a generous portion, because there is that too. Tried a new place for us. Saffron... kind of out of the way place. Very nice place. I felt under dressed when I went in for lunch today. We got a table and started with hummus appetizer. Very good! Followed up with a 2 meat kabob plate of chicken and Tenderloin. My wife had the same. Again Delicious! We were asked about how we wanted the steak cooked (med rare...always). It didnt come that way..but again was delicious. I tried 2 sauces they had taziki sauce (?) And a sesame based sauce. Both good but the taziki was better to me. Overall great experience. Had a great ladies' lunch there this week! Service was excellent, even re- seated us in a private room when our group was larger than expected. Waiter was amazing at keeping orders straight, prompt and very kind. Food was fresh and delicious, Gyro's made with all homemade ingredients, large portions. Very disappointed in the service. We hosted a birthday party and once food was delivered, we never saw servers again. No water refills, no options for anything extra, nothing. Then we were forced to pay a 20% gratuity on each ticket because of being a large group when the service was below par. I was only given ONE glass of water. Oftentimes I am driving on Harvard and I notice this restaurant nestled inside a shopping center. My daughter and I love Med food and had been curious. The inside is very clean and in current pandemic time, it looks to be spaced for proper social distancing. All employees except the ones cooking were wearing masks (I am told the virus does not travel on food so I tried not to worry about it). We went for take out on a Friday after their place was featured in a Tulsa World article (which we found out later) so they were busy. We had to wait quite a while and one of our items had sold out after we paid for it. I am still giving them five stars because they were all working hard and gave us the opportunity for substitution as well as gave us some extra food for our patience. The food is fresh and was well-made. I got the gyro and we also got the cabbage rolls and tabouli. They were portioned well and tasted amazing.
