My wife and I are traveling on a Spyder from Southern Missouri to Glacier National Park. Saffron has such a cool vibe which begins when you take the stairs below street level to the entrance. The staff are all nicely dressed and professional. The back of the menu tells the story of a pharmacist from Chicago moving to Butte, only to discover that her profession didn't fulfill her creative side. So she stopped serving pills and started serving the most beautiful and tasty Mediterranean dishes! Our server was so friendly and prepared to answer questions about the menu and specials. We ordered a couple drinks and an appetizer plate of falafel. The starter plate arrived with the owner sharing more detail about the origin of Saffron in 2018, surviving Covid and leaving behind her professional degree and salary. This quaint little restaurant found underneath the streets of Butte Montana was just what I was looking for on a late evening. They closed at nine so I was timid about going in as I was only nine minutes till close. I was pleasantly greeted by the hostess and sat at the bar. They quickly served me and my appetizer and meal was out. The curry was phenomenal fresh and spicy. The appetizer was made with fresh meat and crispy and all the best ways. What a treat! Just before Saffron's opened up in Butte I had been talking about how much I missed Indian food and would seek it out when I left town to bigger cities. I first went to Saffron's with a group of people I had recently met and we had a family style meal in the Moroccan Room where I got to try many of the menu items. Some of my favorites are the stuffed grape leaves, the curry and *when I'm feeling fancy* the filet: medium rare and cooked to perfection. I met the owner, Azhar, that night and have admired her ever since. Although I haven't had her tasting menu yet, I certainly intend to. Also, I love to start the night there when I'm seeing a show at the Motherlode. She has a tight knit crew and everyone seems to really enjoy working there. It's a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Plus sentimental value, back when it was the wine bar. Like so many other businesses in town, it still holds the same nostalgia with the same bar that we sat at down stairs in 2017. I love it. Thank you. read more

We had one of the best dinners ever here. The atmosphere was perfect. The owner stopped by introduced herself and told us her family's history with different dishes. I definitely recommend the Shish Kabobs when you go there. We also got the chicken curry. I don't normally like curry, but it was also amazing. We got the Sambusak as an appetizer and it had so much flavor and the perfect amount of crispiness. We were blown away by how good this food was. We will be going back often. read more

So many things went wrong here! First things first, from the second I walked in I was greeted by the host who didn't seem like he wanted to be there, I was then walked past the bar to the back of the restaurant to a table in the corner. Once I was seated I was asked about my drink order, I requested a glass of water with lemon, and I was then told "I don't think we have a lemon but I will check". After returning with lemon and water my server came to take my order. I finally settled on the Farroh salad, which was easily the best part of the meal! I ate half of it and then placed my entree order ( Beef stew) with couscous. My chunk of beef was overcooked, dry, and flavorless. I sent it back and ordered the beef shisha kabob which was not overcooked but was also flavorless!! At this point, I asked for the check. The ambiance was okay but nothing special. I came here for my birthday and while the menu is small, the food was amazing and very delicious. Everything that I tried that night was flavored perfectly. I ordered the Turkish kabobs for my entree and was extremely satisfied. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and has a great historical vibe to it. I also loved the double toilet feature in the ladies room lol. I would definitely come back here. The experience, service, and food was well worth the drive to Butte. We had a lovely dinner here with a group of friends. We reserved the Moroccan Room and really enjoyed the ambiance and experience. Our service was attentive, but not smothering. And the food was wonderful! I ordered chicken curry and it was a generous portion, spicy, flavorful, and completely delicious. My friend was fond of the Turkish kabob, and we shared crispy, flavorful sambusak (a fried, meat filled dumpling) which is cravable. Love this place! We frequently eat at Saffron. My favorite is the Curry chicken. My husband always orders the sish kabobs, and last night was no exception. Both meals were excellent! The meat balls were juicy and very very tender. This restaurant has a wonderful staff. Each person will go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is top notch. Our experience however was marred by a couple of out of control guests. Loud, rude, condescending, and especially rude to the waiter. Expecting to have your meal comped because you are confused over the menu is so low class! If you cannot afford to eat and tip, stay home! You ruined the night for the rest of us. My wife and I looked at the menu online and were interested in trying some of the dishes at Saffron. We drove some distance as the reviews looked favorable. When we looked at the menu, it was much different than what was online. We learned that the online menu was their catering menu. I mentioned the menu issue to the owner/ manager and she laughed and said she was working on getting that corrected with no mention of adjustment. I ordered the chicken curry and sambusak for the appetizer. The curry chicken was awful and overpriced. The sambusak was so greasy that I had to wipe up the table from the dripping grease. My wife ordered shish kabobs. She asked me to help her wrestle the meat from the skewer. She pulled on one end and I tugged on the other. I watched as she sawed the ultra tough chunks of gristle. I did try a piece and it was so tough that I gave up and spit it out. The restaurant was pretty cool to look at though. I've been told that it is part of an old bank. Definitely a waste of money and will not return!!!! read more

I cannot speak highly enough about Saffron! I have enjoyed their catered meals in the past and was thrilled to find out there is now a restaurant! I most recently visited with family and we each tried something different - all was flavorful and delicious. I especially enjoyed the weekly special which had an incredible fusion of Middle Eastern flavors and textures with fresh ingredients. The staff were all very attentive, friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about good food. When I travel back to Butte I will certainly be visiting here again! read more

Good ambience. Service was solid, but we were there early. Food was good (couscous and chicken curry) but not for the price.

I don't know what all those other reviews are about but it makes me suspicious. Not having eaten there before, we checked out their website menu and saw some things that sounded good. After we were seated and given menus, we noticed it was much more limited in its offerings and pretty expensive. Unbeknownst to us, the website has the catering menu. We decided to give it a try. We ordered the sambusak appetizer, chicken curry and shish kabobs entrees. The sambusak tasted like, heavy on the chili powder-ground beef in a deep fried dough. The grease was still dripping from each of the triangles. The chicken curry was blasé and my husband was not impressed. I had the shish kabobs. The meat was way over salted and so tough that I had to have my husband help me get it off the skewer. I've had a round steak that was more tender. Some of the pieces had a a lot of gristle, yuck! Server and hostess were friendly and the place looks great in ambiance and decor. Won't be back. read more
