I visited Butte recently for work. I was looking for a 5pm lunch and wanted something fresh. I decided to try Taco Del Sol as it looked very similar to Chipotle. When I came in there were 2 girls working behind the counter as quickly as they could. I didn't have to wait long before it was my turn to build my bowl. For my bowl I added rice, pinto beans with jalapenos, chicken, pico de gallo, cheese, jalapenos, cilantro, and guacamole and sour cream for an additional charge. I topped the bowl with white sauce and a cilantro lime sauce on the recommendation of the girl behind the counter. I also got a side of rice and beans for later in the day. When I got back to my hotel room I dug into my bowl. The first thing I noticed was how heavy it was, which was great because I was starving. Everything tasted decent, it was fresh, and the chicken was very tender. I'm glad of the recommendation of sauces as it made the bowl creamier. Overall, the flavors were subtle, but you get a lot of food for your money and everything was fresh. Plus, I really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. read more

A good stop for those who are in need of a quick fix for Mexican food. The items I've ordered so far (taco salad, burritos) have been underwhelming in flavor, but TDS makes it up for the quick service, affordable prices, and generous portions. I will have to say that I was quite impressed with the amount of guacamole that they gave me... which would easily amount to $3 in California! Make sure you also try their mango salsa, which definitely helps add some flavor to your food. There is a good amount of seating, and even with the lunch rush, I was able to get my food quickly. Not sure if there are other locations around that serve Mexican food, so TDS is definitely one of its kind around the area. read more

Used to love this place. The last few times I got a burrito it was terrible. I get the fish burrito. The fish was as hard as a ROCK and overall everything tasted super salty. I kept wanting to give them more chances since I used to love them. But sadly I will not be going back after the 3rd bad burrito. Very disappointing. read more

This place is very hit or miss. Sometimes I am very impressed, but am often disappointed. The price for food is very fair and there is a student discount, which is the reason why I continue to play roulette at this location. I find that I am most often disappointed by the taco shells not being steamed long enough and having a cardboard consistency or breaking open and the tacos/burritos/bowls having terrible ratios of meat to rice to beans. Also, today their water machine was out of order, which makes it so you have to pay for a beverage. Although I am often pleased, if you only have one chance to eat in Butte, go somewhere else and don't risk it. read more

This place claims to be styled after the famous San Francisco burrito shops. I'm subtracting three stars because this is a dirty lie. The meats were flavorless, the rice was underdone, and in SF they don't put lettuce, cabbage (?) or olives (?!) on their burritos. So growing up on Freebirds, Qdoba, and Chipotle, makes it hard to not make some comparisons and parallels. But having eaten at TDS weekly for close to four months, i can try to steer you in the tasty direction. Firstly, stay away from the.queso/pseudo cheese on the nachos; it just isn't good. Also, the recipe for carne asada, has a distinctly funky (not in a good way) taste that I try to avoid. Next, note that tacos and burritos with beef and chicken are quite bland compared to other similar restaurants, so you'll want to throw on a lot of sauce. Lastly, do have their fish and shrimp offerings; this is where I think the shine is hands down. Also, staff is great and friendly; the deals they have with other local businesses are perfect; the ownership shared with pita pit seems to ensure that the majority of food is super fresh. With some menu upgrades, this TDS will be a 5-star contender. read more

Food is great. I've ate there a few times, no issues. However, when ordering through cafe courier, my burritos were disappointing. I paid for sour cream & guac and there was literally enough on the tortilla to see that they added some, but that was it. A slight hint/color. Again, I never had issues eating there, but be careful ordering through cafe courier. I'm not sure why there was an issue. read more

The Butte Taco Del Sol is a disappointment compared to its sister locations. As part of a small chain I would expect the same quality and availability along with equal amenities. Frequently this location is out of fish regardless of the time of day. Another down fall is lack of internet access. I was looking forward to having a beer or two while finishing a paper for grad school but wasn't given the option because they "don't have internet." read more

We ordered for delivery they ask my husband if he wanted a 12-inch burrito or a 14-inch burrito of course he's going to want to 14 inch. I would have expected it to be huge when we received it it was 90% tortilla with nothing in it except some rice and like barely any meat it was completely embarrassing and a waste of money I ordered a tacos completely melted through on the bottom cracked in half cold meat and their mango salsa is 100% mango with some cilantro I can't call that a salsa !! they don't season any of their meats it's a kind of depressing that They even try to call it Mexican next time go in, don't do delivery because they'll short you on everything!!! read more

Stopped in w/ my family when we visited Butte on the way to Glacier NP to satisfy a craving for Mexican food. My 3 kids, wife and I were so pleased w/ the fish and the veggie burritos that we came out of our way on the way back down from Glacier to eat there again. They had almost none of the ingredients left so I was stuck with shitty options and the staff were annoyed that we were there at all. They didn't close for another 45 minutes. Food tastes canned / frozen. Shrimp should be a bit soft and not stone-like. Their sour cream is too weak and their rice tastes like cotton (very cheap rice). Overall worst taco I have ever had. The food is so bland as if this place didn't discover spices. Try this take and then go to chipotle and look at the difference. read more
