I went shopping as I usually do at Safeway. Yesterday I went to the deli, and I asked for 1/4 pound of turkey, and they told me they couldn't do it. Really only writing a review for a chain supermarket in wine country because I visited both here and the CVS in the same strip mall and found the Safeway pharmacy better stocked than the dedicated one. The CVS made me sad: shabby displays, aging merchandise, dirty linoleum floors. Anyway, if you're a tourist in Windsor looking for grub, you're better off visiting the BurtoNZ Bakery or Oliver's Market neighboring or nearby. But this is clean Safeway, making strong statements about their dedication to customer service and the promise of big box consistency. Want fried chicken at a price that isn't a total rip off? Self check out was a Joke here! There was only one manned checker open at 8:30pm tonight. The self check out kept malfunctioning over and over saying "unexpected item in bagging area" and then would require you to "call an attendant" before proceeding. I use self check out at Ralph's all the time with no issues. Now I know why I go there rather than Safeway! Get it together people. Either have more checkers on duty or fix your self check computer system. Geez!!! read more

I love the staff here in every part of the store , day or night , if something is not right they will always fix it ! It's great that they have 2 Redbox booths, Jamba Juice and Starbucks inside! Deli folks and produce team are amazing. I've only ever had 2 issues in 4 years and the managers were prompt to resolve them . I use my shop kick app here to get points when I walk in as well as items I can scan . The floral department has designers at this location that really know what they are doing , they never have wilting flowers or plants and they are great at making up a bow or doing a special arrangement . This is my local store for obvious reasons and I love using my Safeway app to save $ on gas ! read more

This is my neighborhood Safeway and for the most part its a good store however buyer beware. We stopped at the butcher counter and asked for 2 boneless pork chops. Simple right? As we began preparing dinner tonight and unwrapped the chops we discovered one was very thick and the other very thin. Couldn't the butcher have told us they didn't have 2 of one or 2 of the other? Pretty nifty Safeway they got going on up here. Awesome wine selection as far as their chain goes - in general it's good, but this one is excellent. Bakery chick was ultra helpful and handed up loafs of bread right out of the oven to night - yum. Now, the fish department.. not so bueno - the tuna -- well it didn't just die another day, it died like um... another decade. No bueno billy. Several boxes of the Safeway organic spring greens were wilted beyond wanting them, and I had to do some picking to find a box that wasn't too bad looking, but aside from that the rest of the produce dept was clean and fresh looking. Worst experience today 11/23/19 at about 12:45PM with a staff member at the floral department. She asked if I wanted to purchase my floral items there and because I said no I had other shopping to do she followed me around the store to see if I was going to steal items. Never have I felt so disrespected I have always recieved respect and good costumer service here. Shame on you for discriminating selected people like you did me today. We come here to go shopping all the time and generally it's okay. It's really irritating that you get there in the morning in their electric carts are not charged. I just had knee surgery it's really hard to get around. Other than a lack of complete closing procedures and some organizations I don't why they would not plug in a cord the night before so the carts can actually be utilized. This would be extremely frustrating if I had a permanent disability and Safeway needs to address this right away. I'll give you more stars if you can manage to fix this issue. Worst shopping experience ever! The store was busy and there were "vendors" and store employees clogging up already busy aisles with their boxes, no regard for the customers. The stores layout is also confusing and certainly not shopper friendly. When I asked for help, on four occasions mind you, the employees themselves didn't know where to direct me and were pretty snotty and dismissive. I found what I could by myself, after going up and down the aisles more times than I should ever have to. I'm sure it was noticable that I needed help, but no one offered any kind of customer service. They looked at me as if I were invisible. The only person that acknowledged me was a African American employee. I happen to be African American as well. To make matters worse I was met with more rudeness during check out. The lines were long and this woman opened a register with a serious attitude. I even attempted to lighten the mood a little and not make HER day worse. Again less than customer friendly. This is when the black employee that was bagging acknowledged me, while this lady that was actually in front of me basically ignored me. That is until she saw the other employee and I acknowledge each other. She then had the nerve to get "Ebonic" with me all of the sudden. That was just the icing on a totally crappy cake! I wouldn't bother if this was the first bad experience with this store,(& actually this woman in particular too). ,However I tend to have these types of experiences in THIS store often. I don't shop here for myself for that reason, but my clients want items from there sometimes. If I had a choice I would never subject myself to this or give them one penny! I can't say that I am surprised, after all it IS Windsor. The demographic is mostly Caucasian. Even the other shoppers were rude, while I'm staying above board with good manners no matter what. That's to be expected though, but it's completely unacceptable coming from employees that have been there for years! Enough is enough! I have already suggested to my clients to think of another store to request there groceries from. I have been here for years and have paid plenty of money, that goes to your paychecks! This use to be my main go to store. Now I dread the times that I can't find the item at Trader Joe's or Raley's and are forced to come here. New management is terrible. Usually only one check stand open during the day. I've been in at 10 on a Sunday morning to find one check stand open and a line all the way into the aisle. So sick of large corporations only concerned with saving money. This new management is NOTHING to brag about. I'm sure Olivers market will be if it largely with the horrible management at Safeway. Not only is Olivers willing to work with the PTA and offer escript to give money back to the schools they also treat their employees way better. I made an appointment a week in advance for a shingles vaccine. When I arrived at the assigned time, the pharmacist said she never looks at the appointments...and she could not give me the vaccine for at least two more hours! So, Safeway Pharmacy in Windsor, why do you have us make appointments if you are not going to even look at the log? Wow. Also, I mentioned the Affordable Care Act to the pharmacist at Safeway, and she said she had never heard of it. OMG, really? That's the federal law that mandates certain preventative treatments are covered by all insurance, and the shingles vaccine is one of them. Seriously a federal law that has had a dramatic effect on your industry...and you have never even heard of it? OMG again. I walked across the parking lot to CVS Pharmacy, waited just five minutes, and got my free, ACA-covered Shingrex vaccine. I will only go to CVS from now on, and will move my prescriptions there as well. read more

Worst safeway I've ever been to. I'm a local and visit this safeway at least three times a week. There are NEVER enough checkers. Then they put in self check out, great now I'm a clerk. After working a long day there is nothing I like more than having to be my own checker and bagger without getting an employee discount. So fine, I learn to be my own checker and start using self checkout. The last few months there are always at least three of the self checkout stations out of order and a really long line. Tonight I went there to grab a couple of items and there were two checkers working. I had a bottle of wine so I could not use the self checkout but even if I didn't three of the nine self checkout terminals were out of order and there was a long line. Keep in mind that it's Memorial Day weekend and there are a lot of people there to get things for the weekend. My line had nine people in line behind me. The other checker had a line of six people. Really safeway? It's a busy holiday weekend and there are only two checkers? Seriously? I thought if there was more than three people in line you called another checker? Well at least this time I didn't have ice cream. So go to Raley's, especially if you're in a hurry. You will be helped by a friendly checker and bagger and the prices are the same as safeway. read more

Poor Safeway...since selling out to Albertson's I have noticed a marked difference in customer service (next to none) and overall quality of store employees and stocking. I often comment it feels as though I am shopping in a 3rd World country and staff are now rude and helpless. Most recently, I went through the check out line and the young man at the register didn't even greet me or look at me...the young lady bagging said, "you want bags or not?" are you kidding me? I accidentally brought alcohol to the self checkout area and was met with eyes rolls and the attendant pointing to the sign to shame me. I have been a customer of this store for 15 years...no longer. Here I come Raley's. I will a tad more for a clean, well stocked, friendly store. It would also be a plus if they enforced their appearance and hygiene standards as well. I have been a Safeway customer in Windsor since they opened 20+ years ago. Over the past year or so I feel it has been on the decline. I have repeatedly found out dated perishables especially in the dairy for which I have reported them, though I'm still finding yogurts outdated by 2+weeks. It's falling on deaf ears. Shelves are not stocked and the isles are so packed with staging items on cardboard stands two carts can't even pass together. I have been finding the bathrooms dirty and messy and on 10/26/18 I entered one bathroom and found the sink black with dirt, soap dispenser taken from the wall and laid out on the baby changing area. Toilet paper everywhere on the floors, no paper towels, and the floor filthy like the sink. Shoppers beware!! I'm going to return to Raley's and have been shopping at Oliver's. Much cleaner and user friendly. read more

Safeway is awful. I don't understand how people can rate it so highly for simply being close to their homes and cleaner than older locations. I stop at Safeway once every couple of months after 10 PM when it is the only business open and I forgot to buy toilet paper elsewhere or need a random ingredient for some late night baking. I always decide to abandon my baking projects when faced with the selection of products at Safeway. All of the produce, dairy, and meat is from mass production farms, rarely even from California. And no matter how limited I think their selection is, I find even fewer options on every subsequent visit. Even the butter brands Safeway carries have added ingredients. If you consider either your health or your conscience when you make your dietary choices, don't shop at Safeway. Go check out Oliver's Markets in Santa Rosa and Cotati. I realize that the options north of Santa Rosa are limited, but Big John's and Shelton's in Healdsburg are at least locally-owned grocers with higher quality products. read more

We used to go to Safeway in Windsor regularly but now we definitely do not anymore due to so many negative things happening there recently. Many of the employees were constantly complaining to customers checking out about everything from the refrigerator being removed from thier employee lounge area or that they are not being paid enough or that they are beng over worked. Honestly, there are alot of people out there that wish they even had a job to feed their family. During the last visit there our shoppng cart locked up when we were leaving the strore and a Safeway employee accused us of trying to steal, that is, right up to the point that we showed her our receipt! Seriously?? The manager says it is part of their security and that it works perfectly for everyone else. Really. I have seen several people that were also completely humiliated or embarassed by this "quirky" so called theft deterrant system. Another time an employee asked to search my sons back pack for stolen items and found nothing. What are they trying to achieve in this store by accusing people of doing things they are not even doing? I guess we will never know. But I do know that Safeway, however, has lost another customer. We were also getting more and more food that is rancid or inferior. We complained to the manager and assistant manager about all these things on several occasions but they offered no assistance other than replacing our products. On another occasion two employees making sandwiches were yelling at a third employee about a sandwhich he requested, as other fellow shoppers watched in total disbelief. This store is way too negative and a complete bummer to shop in. We now shop at the Raley's next to it and find its staff warm and welcoming and feel much better about spending our money at a business that actually appreciates its customer rather than treating them badly as this store in Windsor does. read more

I moved to Windsor 4 years ago. I chose to shop at Safeway because it is the store I shopped at in Bennett Valley where I lived previously, knowing the floor plan was similar. I've purchased rotten food not once, not twice, but three different times. It is very frustrating to buy fresh ravioli's and come home to make your family dinner and have them be mildewed. or the last time my husband purchased the big container of spring salad mix, opened it up for dinner and the leaves were soggy and actually made me gag from the smell. I went straight to my compost and dumped the $6 lettuce. NO, I don't have time to go back and return the product. My life is busy and after so many times I am choosing to shop at Raley's. I think Safeway needs to train their staff to go through the products. Once is ok, but three times is not. read more

This is a review for the bakery my mom orderd cakes there 3 times in the past last year we orderd a cinco de Mayo cake with strawberrys inside they put molded strawberry inside my dads birthday cake his bday is on cinco de Mayo. And now this year we asked specificly for a broncos birthday cake for my dad with strawberry banana inside they put yellow frosting along the trimming and blue frosting the cake slanted it looked like a 5 year old baked this cake along with the writing it was huge so they had to re- do the entire top scraped off the frosting to read write it and it still looked sloppy they didn't put the bronco theme like we asked and a long the side of the cake there we're chunks of whip cream missing this worker did a really sloppy job she should be fired because instead of giving us the strawberry banana she gave us fruit basket we asked for strawberry banana for a reason a couple of my family members are allergic to pineapple and my cuzzin was almost taken to the hospital because we thought it was going to be what we asked for never again are we coming here thanks to that Baker. I am going to go speak with the manager later and show him the photos I took of this cake I am sure he can find out who did this and ruined my dads thanks a lot. If I could post pictures I on here I would show all of you them my 5 year old can bake a better cake than that lady she really needs to be fired for almost hospitalizing my family members and giving us such a ugly cake on a really special day she can't read or something because everything we wanted was written on that paper read more

This Safeway never has enough staff working. I always have to bag my own groceries as there are no courtesy clerks to be found. Lines to check out are long. Forget about the self-check out - the systems get locked up as soon as you touch your grocery bag claiming there is "unknown item" in the bagging area. Then you wait for the employee to clear it but guess what? There is no one around. Hire more staff already! read more

The older pharmacist is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I've typically never had a problem here until today while I was trying to see if I could get a script of mine early. He asked me for my name and I gave it but as he typed it in he looked at me and said "Let me guess, it's this medication?" (he actually said something else but it's personal and embarrassing) and started laughing at me. It was completely uncalled for an extremely rude. I ordered three cases of 24 cupcakes decorated in Valentine theme from the bakery. When I went to pick up my order, they had 3 dozen cupcakes waiting for me, not decorated. I explained my order (they didn't know where my order form was) and they told me to shop around and come back in 5 minutes. 5 minutes later I returned to a mix of decorated and the original undecorated cupcakes. She also tried to sell me 82 cupcakes for some reason. I paid and left because I didn't want to deal with it and they had other customers, but I will definitely not return. read more

It is Safeway so my expectations are low. Overall when I visit things seem to be stocked as expected and everything goes smoothly. I frequent during the later evening hours so I can don't know about long lines etc. Overall it seems to be maintained reasonably. This Safeway is close to the office I intern at, so whenever I don't have time to prepare a lunch in the morning (or just don't feel like it), I'll come here for a sandwich. I'm never disappointed.
