I was purchasing several items in the weekly ad. First the cherries rung up incorrectly, had to get the self-check person involved to correct it. That took longer than it should have, but okay. I get outside and noticed I was overcharged for the cereal on sale! I went the extra step to look at the ad and verified that the flavor and size -was- on sale. I go back in, this time to Customer Service, to get it rectified. I waited awhile, no help. Then I see a button to press for service. Nothing. I try several times. A checker yelled over that someone was on the way. No one came. Next, a bagger came over and told me to press the help button. I told him I had, several times. By now a line had formed, as it had been 15 minutes (no exaggeration) waiting. The checker left her line and went over to self-check to see if that woman would come over and deal with us. No dice. Finally a young girl (Jessica) approached to help. I showed her the receipt, the ad, the boxes of cereal, and it still took awhile. I wasn't trying to rob a bank, I was trying to get a POS mistake corrected. Store seems understaffed (except for the personal shoppers) and really not engaged. read more

Then when I went to checkout the self checkout had a single person who couldn't help my issues with the terminal for another 20 minutes because he had to hand hold three other customers elsewhere in the store. read more

Lines for checkout are typically 3 to 4 to 5 people long... Running down the aisles... Never enough checkers and when you request another checker, they are hostile and unfriendly and treat the customer like the customer is the problem. Do not shop here unless you absolutely have to... this store continues to go downhill-expired dairy products, finding spoiled deli cheese upon arriving at home, nasty looking meat and produce, poorly trained employees-specifically in the meat department. Customer service is poor at best. I've talked to management about the most critical issues. They don't act like they care much and today I found one management employee to be downright rude. Additionally, more often than not, sale prices not in their system meaning you have to go to customer service desk for your refund.Very inconvenient. I have shopped here for almost 32 years. Safeway had record profits during covid. Anyone else ever notice they often have only 1 checker. I was there today and they had 1 checker on Sat at 545pm. The line was 10 people deep. Whoever manages this store is an asshole. They are trying to make people check their own groceries because they are greedy. BUT when you have alcohol you have to use a checker. I put down $35 worth of alcohol and self checked then went next door to Raleys, where there were several checkers and no wait and got the same alcohol. Do better Safeway Windsor. It's embarrassing how many times you don't have enough checkers. I've shopped for 20 minutes and left a whole cart of groceries behind because you can't be bothered to have enough people to work there. I'm not gonna wait 20 minutes to buy food. read more

Been to this Safeway several times over the years and it may be one the better out there to be honest. First and foremost, always stocked with goods whether meat, veggies, snack, ingredients, etc. Secondly, super friendly staff! They have always been around to help me find items I need without any attitude, which seems to be rare at a lot of grocery stores nowadays. Finally, very clean store! Why the knock off of the star though, quite simple, they need more employees to man the checkout stands. They were always short handed, which led to long lines during peek hours. I got splashed just standing next to the vegetables and red beet juice from the soaked beets got on my white shirt and sweater. Even the people who work t here state that it is an ancient system - and needs to be upgraded. Never again - not until you renovate your vegetable area - update it. I'm not a thin skin kind of guy. I'm a proud Mexican born and raised leaving in the USA for 3 years now. It's the first time living in this beautiful country that I feel discriminated because of my national origin. @safeway you have to do a better job educating your staff in customer service and most importantly on the equal treatment that all human beings in this country deserve. My experience today was awful and I feel impotent. I have been dealing with some itchiness in my left eye so I needed to buy eye drops, once I got to the cashier who's name is Cory and tried to pay the item said "not for sale" so he called her supervisor (who's name I don't have now) for guidance, she replied "if it says not for sale we can't sell" to what my response was "what's the solution for this case? You have the item displayed on your eye drops section" she replied "no solution, I can't sell you this item". That was surprising for me, I'm a Director of Operations for the fastest growing company of ice cream in the North Bay (Angela's Organic Ice Cream) and I know perfectly about customer experience. But the most disgusting part happened right after when I wanted to pay for a six pack of beer, the cashier asked me for my ID and I gave it to him, he said "Oh no, we don't accept Mexican id's" than he showed the woman supervisor who previously didn't give a solution for my need of buying eye drops. To what she said "oh no we don't take Mexican ids, that might be accepted for employment but not for buying beer". Besides being a Director of Operations for a company I'm a proud lawyer and I know my rights perfectly. I went to this store to get some flowers for our 5th anniversary and I'm pretty upset because no one's there to acknowledge me or customers. I press the assistance button and after 10 mins someone came to me and said she gonna grab someone who knows how to do the flowers but after 20 mins they just let me wait there and no one came. What kind of customer service is that? I work in a restaurant so I understand how it works, but making customer wait for 20 mins is mad crazy without even acknowledging them. I hope safeway would choose the right people train them to avoid making the customer upset. Thank you for ruining my day and making me late for work for nothing. This was the nearest Safeway to the Bujalski family reunion that recently took place. It's important to have heavy snacks available at relatives wander from room to room. It also helps people relax and perhaps not bring up "3rd Rail" topics such as politics, of which there was a wide range. This appears to be an older Safeway that may be due for a remodel and enlargement. As such, I thought it was just OK. The selection was acceptable and the checker service was consistently helpful and friendly. Most important, the "natives" back at the reunion did not get restless on account of the Costco-supplemented food. read more

I can't believe how bad the services here is and the fact that they get away with it as often as they do. I have had various incidents where the price that I get charged is not the price that's advertised and when I try to get it resolved I always get the runaround. Furthermore when I try to find a manager they are usually not around or not able to help because they don't have a key or access or something. The staff here is extremely rude and the store is mostly dirty and unkept. But what blew my mind was that the young girl cleaning shopping carts refused to wear her mask when I told her she was contaminating the carts she was cleaning she just laughed! The staff at this Safeway store were absolutely phenomenal. I was in Santa Rosa working in a Mutual Aid capacity with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department (helping to provide security) for the wildfires when my flashlight's batteries began running out of juice. I tried calling Walgreens and CVS stores to locate 123 batteries, but all of the 24-hour drugstores were closed. Fortunately I found this Safeway store, but I didn't think that they would have the batteries I needed in stock. After going back twice to check the store's inventory, one of the cashiers was able to find me exactly what I needed. Upon arriving at the store, an employee helped me get what I needed right away. When I went to check out at the register, the cashier saw my purchase and told me that he was the person I spoke to on the phone. He said that after I got off of the phone with him, he pulled out a two-pack of the batteries to hold at the register for me when I got to the store. Long story short, the staff at this store really went above and beyond to help me find the one specific item I needed. Being one of the *very* few businesses open during this time, I know that they were much busier than usual, so I wanted to give them props and let them know that they deserve recognition for helping me out. I visit at least 3-4 times a week for one thing or another, and am continuously shocked at how awful the customer service is. Not only do they make up their rules and hours for various services on the fly, but the majority of the clerks are inept and unable to perform many of the required duties, such as loading a gift card. Today I called & asked the lady at the bakery to hold one of their cakes that was on sale, until my husband got off work to pick it up. She was so helpful, & very cheerful. She checked & said they had the cake, & she would hold it for my husband. The other Safeway which I won't mention, wouldn't even look to see if they had the cake when I called. This was an adventure, we are visiting from outta town and the reception that this has given us is amazing. Today, I was helped by Rhonda and while she was helping me, a woman, that appeared to be a little older than she was, asked in a very stern and rude term, "Are you open?" At the time, Rhonda was helping me and there was one person behind me and this woman forcibly pushed herself to the front of the line. Rhonda never skipped a beat and stayed polite when she stated, "Yes, I am." I have worked in retail in the past, so I can understand the lack of courtesy that retail "servants" receive, but Rhonda handled the situation like a professional and continued to give good service, without skipping a beat. PHARMACY IS THE WORST! The technicians there have either no idea what they are doing or, they don't care because patients. One pharmacy tech, Jenny is the only nice one. The others roll their eyes, wait last minute to try and fill perceptions and are never nice. I had my doctor office fill my perception 2 hours before I could get to Safeway and it wasn't ready by the time I got there. It was a very important perception. If you think that all Safeways are created equally, then you'd be wrong. This particular Safeway has a bakery. In that bakery they make a most delicious mascarpone and blackberry cheesecake. This cheesecake is so delicious that I managed to eat a whole one. All by myself. In about three hours. This cheesecake is so light, I never even felt bad about it. They do not have bulk chocolates.
