I have been going to this store since I was a kid....way before the Town Green was built. The family knows all the locals and always make you feel like close friends and family. Very friendly service from what I presume to be the owners of this small market. Sandwich prices are not displayed and there is no menu. You just tell them what you want in what bread, and it's $10. If you are need of a drink of any kind you are in the right place. I got 2 bottles of Gatorade, 2 for $5. It seemed pricy till I went to my hotel and they were $4 each. I wish I had bought more, next time, I'm really stocking up. They have wine, beer, soda, energy drinks. Mixers all kinds, ice cream, slushy, frozen burritos. A convince store on steroids. A really easy in-town stop for pretty much anything you need. For us, that was wine, and they had a surprisingly decent selection of reds, whites, and bubbly - even roses, whites, and bubbles already chilled! Bottles prices are about 20-30% more expensive than Safeway (convenience, kids). We'd definitely stop off again next time we're in town looking for a quick glass of vino. California is so odd at times. This is a small shop that has dynamite liquor. I was looking for a place to pick up some decent whiskey. I looked for total wine and bevmo because that is my norm. I found this spot looking for decent liquor. They have better than decent, they have pure fire. They have multiple bottles of weller, and countless other amazing choices. I was happy with the service and the price as well. I highly recommend if you are coming to town looking for some decent low tax liquor, look no further. read more

It feels weird to review a liquor store. But this has been a staple in Windsor for as long as I've lived here. The sandwiches are great, and they are very accommodating if you call ahead and have them made for later. The wine selection is just OK, but they definitely have every alcohol under the sun and decent prices. The owners of the store have always been pleasant and it's easy to park in front, run inside grab what you need. I don't think they've had a downturn in business, but this is one convenient store that I hope stays open in the future. To address some of the other reviews, yes it's old and dirty. Somewhere between a Quickie Mart and a Grocery Store, Pohley's market is a cool independent. My deli sandwich was good. The staff are really friendly. TV on with the football game-cool. According to my son, they like to play practical jokes on the high school students. Prank calls, fart bombs, throwing coins. That's awesome. It's also cool that they donate money to the high school, and sell the HS football practice jerseys. I'm going back more often. read more

I'm on the fence here whether this is a three or four star place. I am bumping them up because it's a small independent business with good customer service. Really, this is more a liquor store than a grocery store. They have a good selection of beer, wine, and the hard stuff. I didn't look at prices too closely, but it seemed like liquor store prices, not discount store. I mostly came for the deli counter. They have a good selection of meats, breads, and toppings. I ordered a salami sandwich on sourdough. I was pretty happy with the amount of meat on this $7.99 sammie. It was not the best, but it was pretty darn good. I'll come back for lunch or if I am in the area and need some adult beverages. read more

Pohleys is an old fashioned food market and fills the void if you need some simple items like milk, bread etc. There are new owners and the store is now more spacious and has been given a thorough cleaning. Besides the food and produce Pohleys has an excellent deli. The sandwiches here are large and very good. Good variety of deli meats, cheeses etc. Pohleys won't replace your local Safeway but it sure does come in handy when you need a few items and avoid the lines at the grocery store. They use Boar's Head quality meats and cheeses, and they've got the great Dutch crunch bread which puts them up over the top of the five star mark. read more
