Love this store since the remodel... AND they have a Starbucks!, yeah! And best of all... now a navy federal! Also, the produce is always fresh and well stocked. I'm always here for my shopping needs, whether it's a quick run or a haul they always have what I need. I've never used the seafood dept, so I can't speak for it, but all of the other departments are great. Never had an issue with quality or customer service. I gave this review 3 stars because the bathrooms are always disgusting. There's always trash overflowing, the door sticks, and the stalls are gross with sticky floors! Although it's not a huge part of my shopping, it would help that when I did have to go, it was neat & clean. Worst of all, it's at the front of the store. Was told that it was because room needed to be made for Mother's Day. Order puller tried to find what she could. Doesn't Safeway have a section for holidays and events? CRAP FOOD THAT IS EXPIRED AND MELTED. I have bought from this Safeway multiple times, this time, I came home to freezer burned, obviously been previously melted pop cycles. I have never EVER had a pleasant experience here. And it looks dirty as soon as you walk in. Called customer service and she cut me off. That will be my last experience and my last Safeway trip. I went Osborne center store in Upper Marlboro, MD at 7am. I was trying to return item and the manager (Terin) told me that customer service opens at 9am. This was not on website or door hrs. I'm a regular shopper and the quality of food needs to improve. On my recent trip, I bought two packages of flat bread and within a few days there was mold on the flat bread in both packages. This isn't the first time I've bought bad food there. I have to routinely check the expiration date and sometimes I put things back because they'll expire in one day. This store also needs to have more lines open. Having one line for 15 items and another line for over 15 items isn't enough. Not everyone can use the self check out especially if you are doing a big shopping trip. read more

I use Drive Up & Go more than I go inside now. The point of this service is so that you don't have to get out of your car, you can retrieve your groceries and GO. Never that. I'm always having to call SEVERAL times before anybody picks up the phone and what I love the most is having to get out of my car to go inside and speak to a Customer Service person. If you need more help, hire more help. Don't have customers waiting on you while your employees are chatting with the cashiers. read more

I went to this store to return/exchange a flower arrangement. I went to the return desk but no one was there. Finally, a person in charge walked over to the desk. He didn't greet me. He just stood there. So I said to him that I would like to return these flowers. He told me to go to floral. I went to floral but the clerk sent me back to the return desk. The person in charge went to talk to the floral clerk then came back to me in a snappy tone and said let me see the receipt! He then said we do not hand out refunds for flowers that were purchased at other Safeway stores with or without a receipt. I thanked him for his time then asked him for his name. Roger's first mistake was when he did not greet me. He had this look like he was not pleased that he had to help me in the first place. Then he sent me to the florist as if she was going to assist me. When I told the florist that I had a return, she sent me back to the return desk without knowing any information. So now I feel terrible. They were both avoiding me. I deserve to be treated with respect. If you didn't want to give me my money back for the flowers, fine. You should have offered a exchange. I would have accepted that. Roger handled that situation badly. I will never shop at that particular store again. read more

I'm a senior citizen in therapy to improve my mobility. On occasion it would be nice to have the mobile grocery carts operational. I shop here weekly and the last 6 times all three carts have not been available. They don't appear to be on charging stations, so I'm not sure if they work. I live close by and like to use this store so it would be nice to have access to carts during the earlier portions of the day when I shop. Overall the store is good. I recently tried the drive up and go service - the young man was very pleasant. Management should be aware that more and more of my neighbors are opting to travel a little farther to the Dunkirk store for better meat and seafood selections. read more

Pleasantly surprised at how nice and fresh the produce here was. Store is extremely clean and the staff here are very friendly. Im particular about where I purchase some groceries like seafood and vegetables. I usually only go to Wegman's or Whole Foods, but stopped here and found all of their food to be fresh. I don't know why there are so many low-star ratings for this Safeway, my experience has (almost) always been positive there. The cashiers and customer service people are always very helpful and nice. Just two exceptions-- I have seen one of the store managers mistreat the cashiers-- the same one has done this two times in front of me. Then last week, this same store manager was handling customer service when I asked him if he could give me change for a $20 bill. He was very rude and said "All day people have been asking us for money and not given us money." I told him that I shop there every week and he said nothing. No apology either. Honestly, especially because of how I have seen him mistreat store workers-- this guy has got to go. His behavior is unacceptable as a store manager. My only other concern is the fried and baked chicken in the deli department. Often it's great. **But sometimes it is dried out and very, very chewy. You can not even chew it up to eat it. Stopped in for a couple items and read the sign for $4.99 chicken on Monday and decided to try it out. The elder lady behind the counter is in SERIOUS need of love or customer service training!! If you're going to eat fried chicken you want all the crunchy stuff on the chicken , so I requested her to please NOT give me the piece where all the crisp was gone . Honestly, she was so mean and rude I almost walked away. If you're such a miserable human being you might want to find another job . Yeah... so this location houses a Starbucks, so that's totally a plus. Did ya know that? Me either, until looking it up on an app. Located in the rear of a strip mall. Did a stick and move. Quick in and out. No lingering. I came, I saw, I conquered. My first time ever being in this retail store was in Cali; so therefore this place will always give me a "Cali-styled" feel. And this time was no different, I'm not a California Girl, but I felt as such. I found the pricing to be a bit more than the average, but the look & the feel makes it acceptable. Ample parking. Friendly staff. No wait lines. Clean aisles. Great selection, I mean some hard to find, 'this is unique items'. I like the coloring... very vibrant & alive. read more

I shop here often and continue to. This Monday 10/17/22, I went into Safeway to purchase the Monday meal deal for a 8 piece chicken. I arrived @7. I was told that the kitchen was closing and no more chicken was being served. I asked the staff why they wasn't cooking anymore chicken at the time and their response was they was closing. I let them know that your sign said available to 8 pm. They agreed that it do say that and suggested that the store should change it. I went to the customer service desk. The service manager walked me back to the kitchen to understand the issue. After talking to the kitchen staff, he told me yes they are closing due to staff shortages and could not do anything about it. The customer service manager did offered me a rain check but I didn't accept it. Along with other customers looking forward to the Monday chicken meal deal. The worst grocery shopping I have ever done was Christmas Eve here the prices were exorbitant and the fruit and vegetables were in bad shape purchased a bag of navel oranges that looked okay got them home and they were mostly over ripe or drying out the peels were so thin on them the had an inner skin that was tough to remove they had dried up so much a package of mini cucumbers looked great until i opened it and turned them over they were mushy and rotten on the bottom some of the other items were way overpriced like cabbage $1.29 a pound ridiculous the bag of onions had some really soft ones in it that had to be discarded and there were only two kinds of greens Collards and Kale. Shelled pecans were $16.99 a pound I can go other places and get them for less and I think I will from now on read more

The pharmacy here is horrible! I have had no less than four different experiences in less than two months at this pharmacy where I should have documented each and everyone of them. Starting with I personally had some major complications with my health and required anabiotic's and some pain medication that was sent directly from my doctors office to this pharmacy. My husband and I even purposely waited a whole two hours prior leaving the doctors office to give the pharmacy a chance to fill the prescription. When we arrived nothing was prepared and the pharmacist and technician one more interested in continuing our conversation about their personal lives over paying attention to people standing around waiting to be served. The wait was so long that I had to go back to the car and sit down and leave him in there waiting to get three prescriptions filled. Two hours later and many excuses as to why they took so long, he only came back with two of the three because he was told the other one wouldn't be ready for another 40 minutes. When he returned the pharmacist disappeared according to him leaving The tech to deal with him. This has been a pattern each and every time we've gone in there. Something as simple as 800 mg of ibuprofen wouldn't be filled. And then you're told it would take an hour. If they are management model is broken, leader ship should take a look at it. If it's just that they are in capable of hiring confident and professional staff members that are equipped to handle things such as pharmaceutical needs of the general public, and they just closed and the pharmacy completely. Having three people on staff and at times nobody standing in line by myself and they can't fill a simple prescription, somebody needs to go back to pharmacy school or just school in general. I can't recommend anybody continuing getting there pharmaceutical needs met here and should caution them before they recommend anybody else to get their prescriptions filled here just for a 10% off coupon on their next grocery shopping expedition. read more

I ordered groceries online which is something I do quite often with this store. I requested certain things as substitutes for the items that weren't available in the store. They choose their own subs anyway which were also double the price and I think they do this to make more money. For example I requested a 4 dollar thing of chicken and the substitution I chose was 5 dollars, they substituted my 2lb thing of chicken for an 11 dollar 5lb thing of chicken. They did this with other items in my cart as well, luckily my card was locked so substitutions had to be approved. I called the store and requested that they be exchanged for the items that I pre requested as substitutions and guess what? MY ORIGINAL ITEMS WERE AVAILABLE. By the time I did all this it was too late to approve/refund the items on my end so I just assumed they would do it on there's. They did not. So I submitted refund request because I didn't receive any of the items that they charged my card for as well as the items they gave me damaged which was only one item. They only gave me a partial refund. I will be getting my groceries from a different store from now on. I suggest you do the same. read more

My experience was a great one from entering to browsing aisle to aisle. The floor staff were pleasant and everyone was ready to assist. Here comes the but, why did you hire the most unwelcoming, UNINFORMED and attitudinal staff at one of the most important place in the store???? CUSTOMER SERVICE... No greeting when I approached the desk. I dare not even expect a smile and didn't get one. Lol No eye contact, while trying to engage in a conversation. As if I wasn't important enough to look up from the monitor. Very nonchalant and unclear responses to inquiries made by customers. Personal conversations took precedence over customer concerns. All this I experienced in my first trip today 12/2/14. You haven't even been open for a month yet!!! Sad to say, I could have saved my gas and time and shopped at Giant. read more

After experiencing the Safeway stores in Clinton and Brandywine, I've looked forward to this one opening again. Aside from the Starbucks and what passes for gourmet food in Marlton, this isn't much better than the small Safeway that was here before. Despite the bigger store, and more, longer aisles, it doesn't seem to have any better selection than the old store. I'll still be using the Giant and Food Lion in Upper Marlboro, and the SFW in Forestville for my shopping. I do look forward to when they get rid of all the stands giving out samples of free food, so that I won't have to clear the used napkins and toothpicks from the cupholders of the shopping carts, though, not that I have much reason to return. Edit: After some reflection, I've decided I liked the old store better. It was smaller, so I didn't have to walk around so much to NOT find the things I wanted to buy. read more

Very excited about finally having a grocery store in my community that has so many options (plus a Starbucks). I used to take monthly trips to Whole Foods or MOM's to get staple organic products that I love to have on hand for my family. I am pleased to find that this new Safeway has these products, so there will be no need to take these trips. I am extremely pleased. This store cannot be compared AT ALL to the former Safeway; it has a more upscale look, offers more product options to those who love variety in foods, and is just an altogether better shopping experience. This is my go-to neighborhood grocery store. Since re-opening as it's newer better version of itself, I actually half way enjoy grocery shopping...(is that even possible?) They have fresh fruits and veggies and good options in the seafood department too. The lines are always moderate and the staff is always friendly. Always a good thing to be able to grab my fave Starbucks drink to enjoy while shopping. Only thing this store seems to lack is cell reception. Can't use my darn phone in the store so any recipes I want to look up has to be done in advance or while I'm still in the car. I make it work. read more

Easily the greatest Safeway of them all. They were quite generous with the free samples during the bicentennial and I would imagine that it will be the same during the tricentennial when we all go to the Safeway on our hoverboards. Perhaps Zoidburg's people will have arrived. When I was in short pants, we had a field trip to this Safeway. To this day, when I have reason to go into the back of a super market, makes me think of these less than ambitious field trips. I would complain about the lack of beer sales but that is because Maryland has silly beer laws. read more

This store was remodeled yeah!!!! It's still a regular Safeway, yeah. I understand the need for more organic and specialty items, but you'll need to go somewhere else. But for everyday basic staples it works and the over haul of the shopping center in general is welcoming to the area. Also they seem to be a little better stocked than Brandywine..... I won't mess with Clinton as its LONG overdue for an upgrade & the conveyer belts suck. I'd give an extra half star for having like 5 aisles open tonight as we approach the holidays, I was in and out of the line in no time and the cashier was pleasant and spoke to me upon entering and exiting her line. That's good customer service and when I get that, I'm happy to spend my money in your store. The only downside is that I forgot to get my apple pie while I was there.... But that's on me, last one I had was really good from their bakery..... After almost a year it has finally reopened as well as the rest of the strip mall its in. But now it is just as good as all of the other new Safeway stores i have been in and just as large as well. They are fully stocked with all kinds of vegetables, herbs and fruits (and all look very fresh). They have a huge meat section as well as a deli section (making sandwiches and sushi among other things). And there is a Starbucks inside as well. The parking lot is very huge and I think they need all of the space given how packed it was when I went there. Fortunately, unlike other Safeway's they do have more than 2 people at the cashiers. All of them I have been too always only have 2 cashiers and the lines are always packed, but not here. Hopefully they will get more companies to fill all of the unoccupied stores that are in the strip mall with Safeway. So far the only other store there is Petco. The old tenants are set to move back (Chinese carryout, cleaners, nail salon). But there are still 14 unoccupied storefronts!!!! Mind you they just re-opened though. This location has great potential so hopefully they will be able to fill them all. read more

I have lived in the area for a while. Recently remodeled the store compares with the produce you will find at Wegmans. I really like it and find the staff friendly and helpful. Started to solely shop here because it is just as good as other place, features great sales, and better because it is in my neighborhood and I am keeping my money local. read more

This Safeway has limited selection in terms of organic, vegetarian, and international options. The last few times I went in there they didn't have organic apples or tofu (which I don't think are extremely fancy/picky things..at this point they are standard even in crappy stores). Sometimes they sell something and then the next time I come in for it, they don't have it. They don't consistently stock some of the items I go for. read more

This is my favorite Safeway. It is always clean, the produce is always beautiful and lots to choose from. Aisles are easy to navigate and their gluten free aisle is bigger than a lot of other stores in my area. Huge selection of food, including a deli and hot bar. Great quality produce. Friendly and plentiful staff. Best of all, they have a bulk foods section with grains, nuts, spices, and tea. This is very unusual for a grocery store, especially a large chain. I asked a staffer and he said this is a showcase store with lots of corporate visits. read more

One of the most horrible shopping experiences at a grocery store. For the last 20 years they attempt periodically to improve their customer experience but have failed miserably. Because of their location, they have customers. I really don't want to drive 15 miles one way to get to another grocery store if i don't have to - but some days it's really worth having a pleasant experience. While there are a few employees that are nice, the majority of these kids they hire need serious customer service training. I don't understand why Safeway doesn't visit their own stores and see first hand how people are handled. read more

Everything was ok until we checked out. I usually have my own bags but this time left them in the car. Upon check out cashier Jackie said hello and began to check my items. I only had 10 items and asked Cashier Jackie, if she could please not place them in the Plastic Safeway bags so I could just load the items back in the cart. Her attitude completely change and she began tossing my items back at me over the payment pedestal. She then ordered me to bring the cart around which my 80 year old mother did, Cashier Jackie grabbed the cart and began loading my items back into the cart. She was so very rude, I was so embarrassed. She asked me for my card and I gave her my payment card and she meant my Safeway card which I already entered. She insisted that I had not given her my card so I started giving her my Safeway card number which she sarcastically started pounding the numbers into the machine. Embarrassed even more I apologized to the nice gentleman behind me. He was so nice and said not to worry. I was so nervous I couldn't even enter my payment info correctly which of course bothered Cashier Jackie even more. I really like this store and have never ever been treated such by any of the employees there. I am not sure what was wrong with Cashier Jackie, perhaps you should send her on a vacation so that she can rest and contemplate that customer service is primary when working in a public facing job. I know it's not easy, but I am going to say a prayer and ask God to touch Cashier Jackie's heart so that she not treat others this way and that she be blessed and rest and that God supplies all her needs so that she can be happy when something out of the ordinary occurs at work. read more

Love the selection at this store, but everytime I go there the lines are so long. Every Saturday I go, they have 1 express line and 1 regular line open with people waiting half way down the isles to check out. I feel as though sometimes when I order from deli that I am asking someone to help that really doesn't want to. I still go there 90% of the time because of the quality of food and selection. I'm frequently returning due to an over charge. Just yesterday, overcharged by $15, I explain to the cashier that the total was a mistake and she told me to go to customer service if anything is wrong. She could have corrected at the register. I'm disabled and to wait in another line is painful. Paid with a debit card and the refund isn't back on my card. If they would listen to the customer carefully this would not be an issue. read more

Beware! Expired products all over the store. I live close by and this is the grocery store closest to my home, so sometimes, wegmans is too much of a drive for a few items. I have lost count of how many times I have purchased something that was expired by several weeks. This time, I bought yogurt on the 22nd of December and when I got home, I discovered it expired on the 2nd, so it was sitting on their shelves for over 20 days longer than it should have. By now, I was fed up so I schlepped back to the store with receipt in tow, and the gentleman who appeared to be the store manager just said "ohh" and gave me a refund. I informed him this was happening way too much and he didn't seem to care. Disturbing. I'll also add, around Thanksgiving, there was a gentleman that crapped in the store... we are talking a walking crap... poop down 2 aisles. It took them forever to designate a person to clean it up. I get it, no one wants to clean up someone else's poop, but it's a store that sells FOOD! Maybe a sense of urgency would be nice! Lesson learned....I'll drive the additional 10 minutes to the nearest Wegmans. At least there, gross sh*t doesn't happen, literally and figuratively. read more
