Definitely worth shopping here for their sale items. Every Wednesday they come out with a new ad that has some amazing deals whether it's buy 212 packs of soda and get two free same with the chips. They also have some of the freshest seafood as well as meats whether you're looking for beef, pork or chicken. Those also have some pretty great cells too from week to week it always changes so make sure you sign up for their app so that you're always in the loop of what's happening with the sales. read more

I bought four bags of shrimp for Thanksgiving I took it home. My family advise me to return the shrimp because it was from India. I guess a lot of negativity about seafood from India is circulating the Internet. I took it back to the store within an hour of the time that I had purchased it. Customer service was closed. So I took it back home and returned Thanksgiving morning to return. The manager was not empathetic of the fact that I have purchased four bags and I spent over $60 on shrimp. She said it could not be returned. It would be a loss for the store. There are always exceptions. It was Thanksgiving day and you were more concerned about Safeway corporation taking a loss than to give a customer a gift card to purchase food for the shrimp that you could not take back. Wow that says a lot about you. Safeway is not customer service and unwilling to prioritize customer service. I am appalled at the fact that Safeway has no customer service and not willing to keep their customers happy. I will no longer be shopping at Safeway and neither will my family. I do want people to know I gave away the shrimp to a family that wasn't concerned about it coming from India. So I guess in a roundabout way I bless someone with my loss. Happy Thanksgiving. Safeway has an ongoing problem with not storing their foods properly I complained plenty of times especially with the vegan meats. Watch out and look at what you are purchasing when coming to this Safeway. Service is okay. It's always crowded because no one wants to work registers. read more

This store has a vibrant problem of running out of product (especially things thst are on sale) not sure he they ta k there items but it would be nice to actually be able to get all the items that are in my list and not be always yoke we ran out today, cone back tomorrow, only to. R told the same thing the next day. As previous reviews state, check out lines are terrible here. Expect to be in line for a while. This Safeway has been hit hard by Covid and broken supply chains. It continues to suffer. The store continues to be out of many items. Yesterday was the worst experience here to date. One checkout lane was open and about 20 carts were lined up like wagons around a campfire (the photo is taken from my point of view). I was waiting over 20 minutes to checkout. The self-serve kiosk was open, but not all the stations were working. A lot of people were very upset. This is not an isolated occurrence. I get that Covid has impacted everyone at every level, but we're nearly 3 years on and Safeway (at least on the West side of Tucson) has not recovered. read more

The Pharmacy is terrible. The pharmacist is of no help. I honestly believe they have forgotten about the oath they took as a pharmacist to assist humanity. They sit as dictators and make it difficult to obtain medicine prescribed by a doctor. Don't go there for your meds. They have the most terrible customer service. They have no empathy or compaction for their customers who need medication. read more

Nice selection of wine, especially for this side of town. Love the olive and soup bars. Sushi made daily but would steer away if not early in the day. Also has hot servings of chicken, corn dogs, potato wedges and other delights. Decent deli with pretty tasty ceviche! One of the butchers makes it fresh. Tends to have stuffed chicken and skewers for sale. Nice bakery! Fresh breads daily with full cakes and pies. Try the jalapeño loaf read more

This store is amazing. I stopped going to Walmart a year ago because they treat the employees like crap, they are underpaid, and most don't have health insurance. Yes....it is CHEAP......but at what cost. So I needed another store. The difference in the customer service alone is worth it GREAT floral section, amazing fresh fruit section, and the baked and organic breads are so good, With the app on your phone, when you go into the store in registers what you usually buy, and you get great deals on that. Sometimes it gets you out of your comfort zone with things that are new. I love it. read more

I understand things are tough right now inside of a grocery store, I completely understand they are super busy and overwhelmed, this being said, it is not a pass for for horrible customer service, mistakes happen how you handle them is what matters, the drive up and go is designed for very little customer contact, I picked up my order at 3:53 to discover it was the wrong order, the process on which I encountered blew my mind, it was bad enough the young lady Running it was horrible and acted like a spoiled brat with no Sense of customer service , it's the manager Angel who surprised me, long story short after three attempts i finally received my order, after the grocers thrown in my car , tomatoes smashed, I was able to leave at 5:45, hands down worst service I have ever received anywhere! Do yourself and favor , go some where else, anywhere besides this establishment! One star is far to generous! read more

I love my local Safeway! I love the fine food selection and their wine selection is not too bad. They always have fresh produce and we prefer it to the other grocery store down the street. They also have a fresh deli selection and a fresh soup station, oh and an Olive bar! We purchased all our wine escapade picnic items here - fine gourmet cheeses, select meats, and bread and crackers. They have the softest yummiest French bread here! I use my loyalty card and and their app to add coupons on the fly which helps since they are a bit pricier than other grocery stores. By the way they have an amazing selection of Haagen Daaz ice cream pints! And a Starbucks- my weakness! But I love that I can grocery shop and sip my coffee! read more

I just moved here and this is my closest store. I shopped and included sale items. I explained that I don't have a card because I just moved here. I was told that they don't give out rewards cards anymore and I need to register online and charged me full price on everything. And, when I got home I noticed an expired date on my packaged salad. I really don't think they want my business anyways so I am out. read more

Karen D was the rudest cashier ever. She doesn't look at you or acknowledge you even exist. The person in front of me asked her a question and she completely ignored her. Then when I went to check out she took her sweet time writing something on a piece of paper before checking me out. I only had one item by the way. Slow as molasses. If you hate your job that much go work somewhere else! In her case so where where she doesn't have to ever deal with another human being. read more

For the first time in Tucson Arizona since I moved here from Los Angeles me and my best friend recent decide to shop here worst experience ever at this location I guarantee you would not ever come back even if I starve to death your cashier Corrine was very rude as soon as we approached her counter After that when we told her that we have two Iced Teas for $0.74 she said you have to have an account I need to use your phone I said I don't have a phone and usually when we go to the Campbell and Prince location the accommodate us she said well why don't you go over there we don't do that here to get to company policy oh well if I was up to me instead of spending $89 at your store I would have left drive another 10 miles to go to my favorite place on Campbell and Prince or Albertson on Campbell and spend money over there they would have loved had me over there but guess what no more I will not come back here again like I said if I'm starving to death or dying on the corner. Watch out for dishonest meat BOGO or BoG2 sales. They mark up the first item, so you are saving nothing, just buying 2x or 3x. Spoke to the Manager. Manager agrees it is dishonest, yet nothing he can do, prices set by corporate. Check out and meat department people also know it is not honest as well. What other items are they doing the same trick on? Wrote corporate, got back a form letter that didn't address the issue. Arrrgh! Stop with the endless fundraising! I wish (as with many other Yelpers) there was a half-star possibility between "A-OK" and "Yay, I'm a fan", since this is how I feel about this Safeway. This is the side of Tucson that was *supposed* to be swept up in the new housing boom of the 06's and 07's, I suppose, with a huge KBA development and another huge Richmond Homes subdivision west of Valencia/Cmo. Verde. This is the 'upscale' grocery for this side of town, where you can get prosciutto, goat cheese, and a decent bottle of wine or any other snicky-snacks that your Highness desires. At least that was the option a few years ago.. and the hopes for possibly a Trader Joe's on this end of town were still high. In the meantime, however, the housing market tanked and I have noticed this Safeway going downhill foodwise in both offerings and, worse, the quality. Produce is not picked over carefully and spoiling stuff mixes with the regular stuff. I have had more than one occasion had to throw out half the bag of potatoes I buy, scrub the grapefruits that I have bought to scrub off mold, dunk stuff in soapy water first to get off the fruit-flies, etc. I have learned here to look it all over very carefully and turn over fruit before purchasing. The range of the selection is not as good or varied as with the Safeway closer to the college end of town (Broadway/Campbell) and while of course that's a larger store, and with more disposable income from the students there, that's still no excuse not to keep the vegetables clean and picked through for the rotten stuff. Then there's the unfortunate sewage smell from the water/sewage line that must run under the east-side entry to the store; this must be a constant battle for them as the smell seems to disappear for awhile and then re-appear. Worst of all is the constant fundraising. There seems to be something every time I am there and I go maybe twice, sometimes three times a week. Loud, annoying announcements on the P.A. system throughout the store, asking for $1 to donate, please, to (a) breast cancer research (b) prostate cancer research (c) Tibetan yak research; while I have no gripes about donating money to research and do give to a number of charities, I don't know where the Safeway charity money goes (maybe they have 99% administrative overhead, I don't know) and it's beginning to be a bit annoying to be asked for money simply while picking up a few things. I wish this would stop or perhaps if they would just pick one week out of the month for their drives, I wouldn't feel as I do now going to this Safeway, which is guilty and annoyed. I am getting a complex from my grocery store, ha. The store manager is responsive and helpful and will find for you things that may no longer be offered. He is just trying to find out what is marketable in our weird area of town, which seems to be a fractious group of shoppers simultaneously obsessed with bargain-hunting while at the same time attracted to luxury items. It's a tough job to try to satisfy both groups, which accounts for the weird displays of 5-gallon pinto bean and nacho-cheese sauce cans next to Pellegrino bottles and Tully's Coffee ($12 a half-pound). Much of the Hispanic food items you can actually find much more cheaply across the street at the Walmart Marketplace; they must be here for the convenience. The meat deals are competitive with the Walmart though, and often you can get vast slabs of beef for a very good deal IF you know what to do with a 15 pound London broil. The fish offerings, however, are so bad I no longer buy anything here. Best to go across town to the Rincon Market or to the 17th Street Farmers' Market for fish. The bakery is a typical Safeway chain bakery and most of the 'artisan' breads taste like Clorox (mass produced stuff) but there are one or two things that are quite nice (the Asiago loaf, for example) and as said before, a good wine selection for this side of town, although the best deals are had at the Wal-Mart (not the Market but the megastore) and their sales pile for wine in the back of that store (no, not MD 20/20- Louis Jadot beaujolais for $5, nyah-nyah). All in all, this Safeway tries to straddle the worlds of cheap ethnic food and gourmet options, which is not an easy niche to fill. Store cleanliness needs to be a bigger priority and the produce section MUST GET CLEANED UP. And beware the inebriated panhandlers in the parking lot, too. read more

Updated review. The bakery is still great here...but the rest of the store I won't bother with. I shopped for groceries here on a couple of occasions recently and I never will again. Luckily I check product expiration dates. I used to work in the grocery industry and know that stores are supposed to pull expired products off the shelf. Safeway is selling a ton of expired items on their shelves and perishables. Please watch for this and be careful when buying for your family. The last thing you'd want is for them to get sick from something like this. read more

Placed an order online for some basic stuff - bananas, oranges, bread, cereal, cheese etc. Not a lot but enough to justify the online order. When I went to pick it up, the app didn't work to notify them automatically that I arrived. I was able to talk to the employee who was bringing orders out and gave him my name, so he brought out my order. Only two items were delivered, the rest were listed as "unfulfilled". So I went inside to see if things like, bananas, oranges, bread etc. were actually not in stock. Within 5 minutes I found all three. Huh. So I paid for those items and went to customer service desk and asked to speak to a manager. There were two of them within earshot of me asking the person at the desk, both were only a few feet away. The customer service rep pointed to them, they both looked at me and continued their conversation as if I was invisible. Finally I walked up to both of them and just stood there awkwardly until they acknowledged my presence, as you know, a CUSTOMER. The male manager said "what is it?" Not "Can I help you?" "What is it?" ????? So I told him about my online order and that there were several things that were not included in my order that I came in and found quickly and easily. He said "I'm sorry, I'll speak to someone about that." several times and looked at me like I had just run over his dog or insulted his mother. It was rude and disrespectful and not what customers should expect. I've been shopping there for 14 years. I will start going to Fry's down the street from now on. read more
