I got some old favorites plus some easy ready to eat items for meals. The store was small and busy (it was after 4pm so rush hour was starting). What made me happy was Katie the cashier. She was nice and rang me up fast. I mentioned that I needed to find utensils for my food and she said, "oh i have some!" She hooked a girl up with forks and spoons. That was a relief! She is a real one. Prices were reasonable since this was trader Joe's specific food and products. I was excited to see the orzo lemon salad and the sun dried tomato with chicken wrap were still a thing. I got the frosting filled maple leaf cookies which are a must have treat. I got honey trader Joe's O's and yogurt for breakfast. I got a kale salad mix with cooked chicken for dinner. Along with some other items my bill was $47. That's not bad considering how crazy this economy has been lately. Trader Joe's is maintaining their standards which is nice to see in an ever changing landscape. They haven't tried to reinvent the trader Joe's wheel. They aren't broke so they're not trying to fix it.

So no problems there. But since we were here, decided to get something I've been wanting for a while. On a visit to a Miami's Whole Foods, noticed that they sell Golden Osetra Caviar from TSAR NICOULAI ($94.99 for an ounce). Like some other sale items, there is more of a discount if Prime member, so got the item for $76.99. In the same area, there are caviar accompaniments like blinis and creme fraiche, so got some of that too. Self checkout was easy: able to use the Amazon app to generate a barcode for my account, and was able to use the Amazon credit card to pay for it. The receipt was sent directly via email, but printing is possible as well. Well...the caviar ended up being not good even though the expiration date was in May (2 months out): mushy and tasted a bit like mud. My daughter and I looked online to see if that was what it was supposed to taste like, and decided that it was not...something in the supply chain had ruined it. Returning it the same day was hassle-free, with the employee just asking the reason for the return, and returning the amount back to my credit card. Don't do food returns much, so wanted to give props to Whole Foods for making it easy for a valid reason.

You could say I was about $1.50 a pound which would be very expensive compared to the other scale. I have to wonder if this is done at all the grocery outlets or just this one? On the Friday around 7:30pm when I got here, parking was packed near the front so I got a spot somewhere around the middle-back. WinCo functions like any other grocery store, though they are open 24 hours and boast much lower prices than their competitors including Walmart, Fred Meyer and Safeway. Looking through most objects with my two foodie friends, this wasn't always the case, and the extra savings were for items I didn't particularly want at the time. Regardless, it's nice to see a really wide, spacious area that used to hold budget-friendly electronics now serve vibes and a layout that feels borderline like Costco with its gray floor and white walls. Areas in this WinCo have tons of things like dispensers for candy and ingredients, deli items in large party sizes, a deli serving churros and a section full of heavily discounted Arizona teas! Those are only a few of the many sights I got to see here, all while only grabbing myself one of those Arizona teas and a box of yogurt snacks.
