Hot deli, great fried chix and wing zings
William B.

So this is an Albertsons I like - very clean, friendly employees. Like all Albertsons, regular grocery prices are ABYSMALLY high, but you'll usually find some good sale prices in the ad. The 'Cheep Chicken Monday' deal gets me in here practically every monday and I'll throw a few other items in the cart that are on ad. Whenever I need to get a potluck party dish, a sure winner is a bagfull of their 'wingzings' from the deli.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while and just keep putting it off and getting distracted. Every time I come to this Albertsons the employees are always so helpful and kind, no matter what department I'm in! I want to give a special shout out to the bakery at this location though. Ordering cakes is such a great experience each time someone in my family has a birthday. The ladies there always make the most delicious cakes, sometimes on such short notice too! My recommendation of a cake we get often from here that is always incredible is a chocolate sheet cake with raspberry filing and fudge frosting!

Staff is great. It's never crowded, and the prices are great. There is always a large selection of fresh fruit & veg as well.

I've heard friends who live north rave about Haggen for years but never made the drive until today…read more I've been looking for honeycomb and the couple of local farms in the area sell honey, but not actual honeycomb. I asked one of the farms if they knew of anyone in Snohomish county who sold honeycomb and they said it was a while ago, but they remembered seeing it at Haggen. The first thing I notice is how clean everything is, someone near a register said hello as we walked in. The person at Starbucks said bye when we left. We found someone and asked if there was honeycomb in the store, like actual honeycomb, they called someone and then said someone was checking and would call back. They answered, and said it was on aisle 2. We went down aisle 2 and it's where all the baking supplies are, we get to the end cap near the bakery and right there on the aisle 1 cap are boxes of Honeycomb cereal. The person on the phone definitely didn't understand and Haggen does not have honeycomb, but this was funny and we weren't even mad. XD We asked the person at the bakery if they carried honeycomb just in case and they said no but they carried really good honey and recommended a brand, we thanked them for the info. So Haggen is really clean, everyone is nice and tries to be helpful, had a beautiful display of baked goods, noticed a good variety of cheeses and oils and vinegars when walking through and stuff in general, and doesn't have honeycomb but no one in the county seems to anyway so that's fair I guess. If someone finds local honeycomb please tell me where to find it. But yeah Haggen is great.

So, I stopped in at Fred Meyers in Snohomish yesterday. Here's my review…read more.. I was INUNDATED with...wait for it...nice and helpful employees. Yep. Okay, I admit, this is not exactly breaking news for those of us who shop here on a regular basis but that doesn't mean it doesn't need to be noticed. For example, let's talk about Kathy at the seafood and meat counter. There was this lovely customer in one of the little motorized shopping carts who needed assistance and Kathy was incredibly kind and helpful. I know, I know, that's her job, but she did it with a smile and a lot of patience. How cool is that? She also made sure to acknowledge me, and other customers as they approached, to make sure we knew she saw us. Like they say, it is the littlest things that are so appreciated. My checker, May, was a sweetheart; helpful, friendly and super-efficient. We got through almost the entire order, and I realized I had forgotten my ID in my truck (apparently 60-ish is the new 21 Hahahaha but having owned a C-Store I have no problem with following a protocol that can be quite expensive if not followed). She could not have been more understanding, pausing my order as I dashed outside to fetch it. No rolling of eyes, no judgement, just a "customer-first/no problem" attitude. And, as I was heading out with my wildly full cart, I couldn't help but notice this gal (I found out her name was "Bella" from Elly, another delightful employee at customer service) who was happily dashing between checkout stands helping bag groceries wherever she was needed. It goes without saying (but it shouldn't) that their produce is fantastic. Their fresh flowers are gorgeous. The Copper River salmon I bought from Kathy was incredible...I could go on and on. Oh, and the lavender plants they had out front for $8.99 a piece? WOW! YAY! I know I can forget how much work it takes to make a big store like Fred Meyers run well. I also believe it is proof positive of great management within that store when it does. Employees who trust in their bosses work harder. It's just human nature. We are blessed to have this particular store in our town. Go there, you will agree.

The only issues I see are there is often not enough cashiers, and the immersion of organic foods incorporated into the regular food, forcing people into other isles backfires by making certain customers prefer a smaller Trader Joe's experience instead of trudging through every single isle. They've taken out the connivence and clogged up the isles. The added self checkouts is good for some but a pain for many. The lines have only increased since their addition. They insist that once customers get used to it, things will move faster. I'm sure that those selling the self checkout equipment have convinced some gullible head of such thing, unfortunately every store that gets them in place of cashiers has longer rather than shorter lines. Newport Oregon has had them for years and notorious long lines for such a tiny community. I loved the Snohomish Fred Meyer versus the Monroe FM because our store had shorter lines and more cashiers. The new self checkouts has ruined all that and now wait times for checkouts has increased drastically. My high ratings is based on the food prices, freshness, quality and good customer service, when you do finally get to the cashiers.

APR-18-2023: Sit back and relax. I have a story of life for you. I won't mention suicide, drugs,…read moreor abortion; there is a brief mention of shopping cart abuse, however. This little bit of writing is supposed to be fun or funny or something like that. If you can't see that, then I have some advice for you at the end. Or stop reading now. Your choice! I've lived in Silver Firs since 1996. This store was built around the turn of the millennium. It's hard to believe, but this store has been a consistently a remarkable store for all that time. Packaged stuff is fine, and the prices seem OK to me, but I'm not too picky on price. I value quality above all else. And I can find packaged stuff anywhere. Here are the delighters for me: I like to shop for the triple B's: Booze, Bakery, and the Bunches of produce, especially the Bunches of produce. There is so much goodness here that I can't take it all in. The apples are amazing! I can't wait for the peaches this year. Last year's crop was so good! If I don't know what to do with a plantain yet, then that's MY problem. I like the deli too (but... it doesn't start with a B, so...) When I want a Rueben sandwich, this is where I get my meat and cheese. Be sure to get the Jewish Rye bread and the Dijon mustard. OMG! Delicious! Oh! And I always get my Parmesan cheese here at that little walk-around case, too. Today I also bought some cool BBQ gear. (Hey, another B!) I think this staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, etc. I personally know that dealing with "the public" is challenging sometimes. I used to do volunteer work and I took so much abuse from "entitled" people who just want it fixed... NOW! When I asked for "a little help, buddy, because you know, it is a volunteer thing..." Nope! That's everyone's cue to disappear. It's just human nature to be inhumane. When someone is humane, the world lights up beautifully. So, I've been there myself. These folks are really nice. They are "soldiers of niceness". They could work at Disneyland. I admit that there are some things I always buy at a specialty store, like seafood and beef. I'm too picky in these departments. You know, sustainable, organic, humane, and harvested only on the Sunday after the first full moon after a volcanic eruption, etc. Just ask any critter or fish. I'm big on that. I can't bear the idea of boiling a live crab. I just can't do it. For everything else, I am happy to buy at this Safeway. I like to think of this store as "my store". So, I take care of it like I would my own house. I'd like to teach the public on how to return carts to the cart return. It really is possible and obscenely easy to stack them nicely with the big carts on one side and the little carts on the other side. But does the public do this. No. The public practices cart abuse every day! I'm sorry some folks feel differently about the store folks. It goes both ways. Some customer folks are not very good with store folks too. The world is not perfect. Some humans are good with other people, some humans are just not very good people and so on and so forth. Some people are tired, or they have worries, or they are just bored out of their minds and look forward to a change. Some people don't floss their teeth. I've smelled that. Haven't you, dog breath? Early on in my development as a human being, I bought a cucumber at this store. I went thru self-checkout. Something went wrong. A staff member fixed it and I left. When I got home, I had an email from my bank that said I'd spent more than $100 at Safeway just now. I looked at my receipt. The staff person had entered a quantity of 92 cucumbers into the register. I went back and got it fixed. Then I got heated and called the manager. The manager asked if the staff member corrected it, and I said yes. At that moment I realized what a prick I was. Now I laugh at little things like this. This is not a problem. This is just life! Once I bought groceries here, went home and couldn't find them! I went back to the store and asked if I had left my groceries at the store. No, they said, but If would like to, just go get what you bought, and you can have it for free! I practically fell on my ass! So generous! No, I had to find the groceries. I went home and found them. I can't remember where I put them, under a pile of dirty laundry or something. Jeez! What a night! I like to compare what I have to what I don't. I compare this Safeway being there to not being there and I say, "I'll keep this one, thank you! My life is better with this store right where it is." Thank you, Safeway folks! PS: This is the cleanest, brightest, and nicest smelling store too. This store has energy! It's better than Disneyland! Put that in your bong and smoke it! If you don't like this store at least most (4 stars) or even some of the time (3 stars), you picked the wrong week to give up smoking dope!
