I love this store! The best customer service, friendly and helpful.... I am a regular and loyal customer. I have been patronizing them for years. read more

The Pittsburg Safeway is the worst SafeWay ever!. Pro: Nice Staff, Good produce, Meat Dept. Cons: The lines, The Line, Long lines, there are always thieves at this store, sticking crap in there pants, can't even bring my kids here anymore. 1 Star! read more

I've only given one star becqause there's no option for zero. This place is awful. The floor is filthy. The shelves are poorly stocked if at all. Near impossible to find anyone for help. They've got things like Tums and Tylenol locked up (what, so I don't OD on antacids?) and no one, I mean NO ONE responds when summoned to unlock the cabinet. And once you've spent hours trying to find what you need that may or may not be stocked, you'll end up waiting in line to checkout for even longer because too few registers are open. This place need to be closed and replaced. I will not ever shop there again. read more

I drive 15 miles or so to the Safeway in Brentwood on Balfour Road. This is one of the nicest Safeways I have ever been to. Place is spotless. Butcher and fresh seafood counters are great. Employees are pretty good and helpful. read more

I feel like a jerk for saying this, but this store is horrible. The people who work here are wonderful but the store is seriously understaffed. My major complaints are the huge number of things locked up, the way past-pull-date items ( I recently saw milk 2 months past pull date), the fact there is no efficient self check because of the extremely high occurrences of shoplifting, the way it takes someone over 10 minutes to make a sandwich at the deli, the general lack of cleanliness in the store and more. But all that being said, the biggest problem is not the store, their management, or the kind people who work there but rather the fact that this store is in a terrible demographic mix, of working commuters and multi-generational welfare recipients. I alway have avoided shopping in the late afternoon because that is when people getting off work stop to pick up a necessary item or two. However I've been caught without something vital and have driven all the way to Antioch to avoid the long lines of welfare shoppers in bedroom slippers and flannel pj bottoms with 5 cranky misbehaving children in tow. Additionally there are some seriously creepy men in this store who appear to be homeless. I try to give them a wide berth but they are not completely avoidable. And also there are seriously creepy begging people in the parking lot, which fills with BART commuters. And then there is the issue of the filthy shopping carts. I just avoid this store as much as I can. Concord is 15 min away, Antioch 20. read more

My father was a Safeway exec for years and he would be absolutely appalled at the service at this store. I always shop at Safeway as an ode to my father but will never set foot in this store again. read more

You guys have a serious problem there should be no logical reason that I should have to wait for a customer to complete their transaction while your teller is hitting on them. Then on the same day 10 minutes later I had to use the same teller and the woman's mother that he was just hitting on came in and asked him to call him a cab. Hello you are not customer service that is where she should have been directed. Do your associates not know that people want to pay and leave? Better training is required! read more

i only went there because it's the closest to my house...the lines 90% of the time are on average 10 people deep, during any time of the day or evening, with only 2 (3 if your lucky) check stands are open. the staff seems over worked and tired most of the time, so the customer service is lacking. in the evenings i swear it's colder inside than outside, and in the winter that's not a pleasant shopping experience... it's gotten to the point that i shop on the way home when i need or drive up to 8mi away to the next store...ANYTHING to avoid this particular safeway. no one in my house will shop there anymore, we just can't deal with the place... and for the record? it's just over a mile from my house. terrible store. i feel so sorry for the staff there... read more

All i could say regardless what time it is and how many 100's of people are standing and waiting to get checked out they will not ever have more than one station open. Expect to spend 30 mins at least waiting for your turn. read more

i got 2 containers of yogurt the other day that were both more than two weeks past their expiration date and didn't realize until i got home, it is close to where i live but sub-par to any of the other safeways in the area. i will drive to concord instead in the future. read more

This Safeway is clean, giving the location its appearance is fine. The bathrooms do always smell like fish and/or some other funky stuff. The check out lines are horrible, going in during rush hour times. They'll have 3 stands open and lines going down aisles. Some of the cashiers will be paging people to come open another stand but no one ever shows up. After being called over the loud speaker by name 3-4 times at work and you don't show up, maybe time to get written up or fired. There are a few employees there that are wonderful happy friendly faces! The Starbucks inside is great. There are 2 younger girls that think the products and whipped cream are coming out of their kitchen. They act like they can't smile and they look like they hate their jobs! One older tall slim built women is very nice and helpful. Eric I think his name is, wonderful barista who knows exactly what I order (the same thing for months) will see me and already start to make it. The other bitter girls will try and change prices on me and act like they've never seen me before. The deli made me so upset because they have 2 check stands, one for deli and the other sandwiches. But you have to wait in one line for both sides. I don't want to wait for 8 people to order sandwiches so I can order broccoli salad. It's crazy. The bakery does a decent job on cakes. Their whipped cream frosting doesn't taste like other locations. Not as good.. read more

Worst Safeway around, never any baskets for us to use, lots of misplaced items and messy shelves, produce and meats are not always as fresh as they should be, there is no self check out, multiple check out lines are always closed and that doesn't help with the crowed, seams like they are always short staffed, no matter what time you go there is always a line at check out. This location is always busy because there no other choice around in the area. District managers need to do something about this location. I live 5 min away from this safeway and I would rather go to the willow pass location. read more

I just came from this Safeway. I've been going here since it opened. It has gone downhill. They had to lock up a lot of items, toothpastes, etc. because of shop lifting. I saw one guy take 2 cases of a special beer from the beer aisle out the door. Why not put security at each door and check receipts like Walmart, if theft is an issue. They have signs hanging up and at the registers, that if there is 3 in line they will open a new register. The last two times I was there in mid afternoon there was at least 8 in line and they still didn't open one for at least 10 more minutes. Today the lady in front of me was in line 25 mins. She told the person at the register, as did I, to take them down as this store has never followed that rule. Last time the person in front of me asked the girl at the register why they don't open other registers. She said that they stopped doing the 3 in line rule but haven't had a chance to take the signs down yet. I thought how sad is it when a store has to tell customers that they haven't taken down a sign for better customer service because they aren't able to provide that service. The employees are nice but they must be frustrated hearing these complaints daily. read more

This Safeway always has long lines. Any time I go shopping it takes me at least 20 minutes to get through the checkout lines. They always have checkstands that are closed. I don't understand how this location stays in business. read more

I have learned to go here only between 10 and 2. Early morning, later afternoon and early evening are horrendous with long lines and too few cashiers. I love the selection, use the Club card to get great discounts, and the pharmacy is really good. The deli is an operational nitemare, with no designation for lines, and too few people trying to make sandwiches, dish up salads and special meals, then having to ring up the cash register. At noon it is just a mob scene, and takes easily 15 to 20 minutes to get an order. Management here is stingy with cashiers. Cashiers have a tendency to just gab with some of their friends who are customers in the lines, making a bad situation (long long lines) even worse. It is nice to be friendly, but in the interest of efficiency, just do the job as quickly as possible! Stop the chatting and standing there doing nothing! This is a management problem. The store manager should be fired as he does not seem to be able to convince the corporate office that he needs more staff! The staff is generally very nice, and helpful, but totally overworked. You will have 50 people in line to check out and only 4 registers open, one of which is a 15-items or less line. read more

Good to fullfil urgent grocery needs however I find everything overpriced. I rather shop at cheaper grocery stores which offer organic food at a better price in Concord. Also a few of the cashiers specially around 11PM do not offer good customer service. They do not even make an eye contac! The traffic is bad during the day outside. I will go here only when I need something urgently, otherwise I'll stay away from this place! read more

I hate the Bay Point store but it is the closest to me. I ALWAYS have to review receipt to be sure I was given the discounted price (Just4U) as often not given. Then I have to go to customer service counter with my printed out list to prove it is there where one staff (one woman particularly rude) will complain how much a pain the personalized deals are. Also, often times the store is out or doesn't carry the personalized item. read more

I have never had a problem with the staff. The produce is sub par and I think I have only got a cart without garbage in it twice in the 4 years I have been going to this store. Some of the carts were nearly black they are so filthy. read more

This store is so often crowded and it is more expensive than other stores I shop at. Milk is overpriced and other essentials. They are obviously gouging the poor in the community here. And the service is below par too. i will continue to shop here for a while, but prices need immediate attention. read more

I usually don't write reviews but had to do so today. I called the Pittsburg, CA Safeway and stated my concern over the news of salmonella in the Foster Farm Chicken. I stated that I wanted to return a pack of Chicken I had purchased. The lady handed me over to the manager. I stated my concerns to him and he told me that the chicken is good and no store has recalled it. I told him that Winco had removed all their chicken both FosterFarm and their brand because it is packed by Foster Farm and Costco had recalled their chicken. He told me that he would refund my money if I had a receipt. I told him I do not keep receipts. He then stated he could use my club card number if I remembered the amount of my entire purchase. Hum, I told him I did not. He then told me that he was sorry but he could not refund my money. Wow, talk about no customer service. It was only $6.44 as the chicken was on sale. I may have to drive out a bit but I will take my business somewhere else. read more
