Floral department in this store is Amazing! We used them for flowers for my daughters wedding, the bags of rose petals were fresh, beautiful and generous! The corsages were exactly as ordered and had a wonderful fragrance. Everything was ready and packaged neatly and ready on time. Loved the woman who ran the department, she was friendly and helpful. This was absolutely a great choice, a no stress service for such a big day for us. I would highly recommend them. read more

Tonight I seen 8 people not wearing a mask 3 of them were employees. One by the door that they keep closed and one back where they prepare food. They only put the mask on when I was walking by. Another employee who seemed to be leaving their shift hanging out. How can you require everyone to wear a mask if your employees fail to do the same. Customers were walking around not wearing mask as well. Is the mask requirement no longer in effect? You sign outside says otherwise. read more

I'm a previous Safeway only shopper, this store has changed that. Terrible lines, unhappy cashiers who don't enjoy their job and openly complain about their coworkers & their schedules & treat customers like an inconvenience. It's not one or two, there has to be a leadership problem for the difference to be so noticeable between this one and every other Safeway I've shopped. I have gotten good service at the produce and meat departments and the team at Starbucks are great - happy & helpful! read more

Horrible service at the Starbucks.A few weeks back I stopped in to get a cup of coffee.i do my nails in the same shopping center. I notice the barista a ilder Africa America was making the coffees.I also noticed she wasn't very friendly and helpfull.I brushed off her attitude has she was having a bad day. This morning I stopped in to get a toasted white chocolate mocha and cashier mentioned they were sold out..No problem I just ordered something different.i forgot to mention to please make it with half and half.Mias attitude made it a point to tell me we charge extra for that in a loud tone.I asked cashier Julie to please refund my money spoke to a manager.Wgeb I was existing mentioned to the barista to change her attitude in the future in Barista yelled at me she been doing this for20 years and I wasn't going to change anything. I am not recommending thus Starbucks you will get good customer service and friendly just down the street at Fry's or Target..I will NOT be returning any time soon... read more

Absolutely love this store!! I go to the deli quite often and the staff is always so helpful, especially the manager MARY B. She can be totally busy but always managing to help her customer first. She'll even offer me items that are on sale that I didn't intend on buying. The florist, Michelle is also amazing. Her flowers are always so well displayed and shes always offering tips to keep your flowers last longer. These lady take great pride in their work and it shows!!! read more

As a current, hoping to remain anonymous, employee, I'd still rate Safeway as a great store overall. While not personally much of a cook, there are many professional chefs who say we've the best produce in the area. Our meat department has some great cuts available, the bakery their fresh, quality breads and deserts. The deli is actually quite exceptional, especially their handmade sandwiches and meats. If you have any doubts about our products, remember to ask for a sample! Anything that can be consumed as is (within reason, I assume that excludes canned soups and the like, raw foods, etc., but INCLUDES cookies, bakery items such as donuts, deli meats and cheeses among many other things) can be sampled. The prices are the catch. If, by experience alone, I'd make a guess I'd say that about half of the products in the store are only marginally more expensive; by mere cents roughly. However, there are a lot things in the store considerably more expensive. This goes with any grocery store, but be a smart shopper. Comparing prices can go a long way, if you're not concerned with trips to other nearby stores such as Walmart or Fry's. read more

Safeway in Goodyear now has english muffin bread in the bakery section!!! Best bread I have ever tasted. Toasts really well and makes the best sandwiches. Please keep in stock. Pharmacy staff is friendly and helpful. Cashiers are friendly and helpful. Love the smiles. I am always satisfied with fruit and vegetable section also. Safeway staff is always coming up with new ways of displaying products and I love it!!! Keep up the great job folks!!!! read more

I gave this store 1 star. I'd like to give zero. Worst customer service I've ever encountered!!!! The cashier LITERALLY said zero words to me while I was checking out. I had 5 items. Even took them out of my hand basket for him. He bagged my raw meat in the same bag as my bread, milk, and cheese. Gross!!!!! I mentioned at the very end... After he couldn't even tell me my total (let alone "hello" or "do you have a safeway card?") that no one believes me when I tell them that cashiers at this store don't speak to me. He just gave me a lazy look & couldn't have cared less. Finally he said, "sorry about that." What a joke! Never again will I visit this store. I've been a customer for far too long at this location. I shop here weekly and have dealt with the bad attitude of the cashiers for over a year. I asked a cashier today if she could swipe her Safeway card because I didn't want to run back to my car with toddler in tow and she refused saying it was illegal. I ended up asking to speak to the manager about this and she informed me they would simply have me fill out another form. I did this but it infuriated the cashier. What a horrible lady. I realize you hate your job but don't ruin my shopping experience. I won't be back here until these frowns on the employees turn upside down. The lines are often long with only one or two cashiers at most on staff to help. It's sad, this store will end up closing if they continue to provide this type of service and treat their customers poorly. read more

Avoid this store at all cost !!!! Never had a good experience here and i dont know who the manager is but if she spent as much time trying to take care of her customers as she seemed to take care of curling her hair , she may have a chance at managing at least a 2 star worthy store and the only reason she got 1 is because i couldnt ( not) leave any . They need to have training in how to use the service (Western Union ) or not offer it ! read more

Poor girl at Starbucks was left by herself and the line was insane! She ask for help over intercom several times even ask a passing coworker to pleas get "Nicole" who obviously was uninterested in helping her. The sad thing is she was in the mirrored room right next to the Starbucks area. The poor girl said I know she can see this. I give the young lady kudos she pressed through and 15 min later I got my coffee and she was still smiling taking orders and making coffee by herself! Been here a couple times. The store is never crazy busy. There have never been carts strewn through out the parking lot. The store seems clean. It is set up strangely, but we are used to stores we frequent more. The staff seems young and more interested in flirting with each other than working. When we see good deals we will stop through here on our weekly shopping run to other stores. read more

Smaller Safeway that I'm used to but it has all my staples. Not as nice as other Safeways though but it will do the job.

Check your receipt. Also, why put 4 small items in two bags? This can cause product to be left at register (and unhappy customers) who arrive home without all the product they paid for? Cashiers have always been friendly during our visits by the way. read more

I don't know why people have rated this store so low. I love shopping at Safeway! Their people know how to bag the groceries without squishing everything or putting one item per bag as they do at other stores because the bags at other stores are so cheaply made. It's not super crowded so it's a pleasant shopping experience rather than fighting for elbow room. The store layout actually makes sense. The people are almost always friendly, sure there are a few I've encountered that might've had an off day, but it's light and day compared to a different big name chain in the valley. Their Produce doesn't look like the bottom of the barrel crap as it does at a certain big chain in the valley. I can't believe people actually continually buy that garbage elsewhere. Safeway takes pride in their store, the employees are well trained and the prices and discounts are great. You definitely get what you pay for and if you want subpar, shop somewhere else. But if you want a great product with a pleasant experience, shop here. read more

Two stars for being convenient. This store is going down hill fast. The employees always have a bad attitude, especially the girls in the Starbucks kiosk. The older lady in the deli is pretty grumpy too. When this store first opened the employees were friendly and helpful. Now it's far from being friendly. The cashiers tend to not even greet the customers and most often they are to busy gossiping with the bag clerks. I've purchased deli meat and it's been slimy and bad within a day. The meat section tends to be questionable at times too. Be very choosy when looking at the meat. The veggie section is ok. They carry the basics. I hope that some way they turn this store around because it is so convenient. read more

Worst Safeway I've ever been to. They close at 11. Perfect. I get there at 9:40. Can't find what I need- waddled ( pregnant) my happy butt around the store for 20 minutes and can't find anyone to help me- the only person I could find is the register chick who had a line and couldn't help. Even yelled through the back stock room and no one was there. So I call the store- sit on hold... sit on hold... I leave.. still sitting on the phone.. after 15 minutes someone finally gets on the phone- I tell them how frustrating it is when you can't find anyone who works there to help you and how frustrating it is that you have to wait on hold all night just to get a question answered. Not even going to lie- I dropped an F bomb in t statement. Yup that frustrating. . Meanwhile "Yolanda" on the phone, instead of caring to answer my question- cares more about the damn F bomb I used and decides to hang up. ‍ as if 35 minutes waiting to get a question asked wasn't pissing me off Enough. Understaffed and the staff they do have don't even know how to handle a complaint. read more

I went to this safeway because I wanted to make a sandwich so I needed meat, cheese and Kaiser rolls. The deli opened at 7am on this Sunday and although it was not yet open the lady prepping the Deli area volunteered to help. It was a very pleasant experience. She helped me get my meat (Applewood smoked ham) and cheese (Muenster) both items were sampled and if they were frozen I could not taste it, they were delicious. If you believe that stores don't freeze deli items then you have never been to the walmart up the street. I then went to the bakery section, and it was still before 7am and the nice lady helped me out as well. There was not enough Kaiser rolls so the bakery lady recommended another product and gave me a sample. It tasted ok and it looked like it would be able to stand up to my ham, cheese, pickles, mustard and miracle whip sandwich, so I got it. If I had left at this point the store would have received 5 stars, but I went to the meat section. I do not expect butcher quality meats at a grocery store, I don't want it slimey like you see on kitchen nightmares or the walmart up the street, ever. I do need honesty. If the meat has been frozen for a day or two it is ok for the grill or stove. If it has been frozen for a week or two it is ok for the crockpot. If it has been frozen for a month or two it is ok for the dog. If it has been frozen for a year or two it is only good for the trash. This is where honesty comes in. The manager claimed none of his meat was frozen while we were looking at the ice crystals on his chicken. He spent an inordinate amount of time fondling my meat and trying to poke a hole in the plastic wrap to insert his finger in. He also claimed that his beef was fresh but when I got home and peeled the chuck roast out of the plastic I noted the top was fresh red and the bottom was grey. This happens when meat is close to being spoiled or past and disreputable people use red dye to cover it up. I also noticed bad freezer burn on the hidden part as well. Since the meal was for a crockpot I didn't return it. I regret that because all Tuesday, the day after eating that meat, my entire family was ill with stomach and digestive issues. In summary, fire the meat manager before he kills someone, and promote the deli and bakery employees. read more

This store opened the same day I closed on my house . 15 April 2003. It is now dank and smelly...like an old market in the Bronx. Only it's only ten years old!...Today I found out they took away the bulk coffee. I may be shopping at Sprouts from now on...longer drive but seriously...forcing folks to buy pre-packaged (who knows where it came from coffee?). That could be the last straw. read more

Called to get subs for the same day, I didn't know if I had to order them ahead of time or if they can prepare the same day. I wanted 2-3 foot long deli subs. I talked to the deli department which I began asking questions she interrupted me and asked for when did I want them, I said as soon as possible and what was the earliest I can have them. She asked in a very sarcastic tone "for today?". I asked how long in advanced I had to request but before I even finished my question the line got disconnected on her end... If I had more time on my hands I would call the manager but I moved on to Frys who was able to prepare me 3 within 30 minutes. read more

Twice this week I tried to buy Michelob Ultra 24 packs at the Safeway on Estrella Parkway at an advertised sale price. The store was out of the product both times and also refused to issue a rain check for the advertised item. The second day when I inquired about a rain check I was told that it was against Arizona Law to issue rain checks on liquor. The young lady at the customer service desk was very nice and friendly, but very misinformed probably by her superiors. In fact, to advertise a product that is not available at a sale price is very close to bait and switch tactics, which is illegal. I inquired at the Fry's store in Avondale and they had not heard of any such law. I then went to the Safeway on Elliott road. They were out of the 24 packs but offered to sell me an equal amount of 12 packs at the same sale price. They also had not heard of an Arizona Law against rain checks for liquor. read more

Horrible horrible customer service experience, i shopped here about 4 years ago and had the same experience, the ladies are more about flirting and giggling with each other than doing the job they get paid for, I queued for 15 minutes to purchase some lotto tickets and after a call for assistance by the customer service clark, that was not capable of performing her duty, i guess a manger[lady] came over to help, although she had noticed the queue all this time and instead of asking who's next in the line she just went ahead and helped a lady and a gentleman who had come after me, when i got to the front of the line she tell me the clerk was almost done with the lady she had spend over 15 minutes with, and she is going to help me, I politely declined and left the store, This is one of the worst store as far as customer service is concern and that why its always empty with no customer. Safeway you need to replace or retrain the staff, majority of them are pathetic, starting with the young lady manager or whatever her title is. Lucky i have alot of choice to shop and spend my money elsewhere read more
