We came to visit family at Goodyear AZ, and needed a quick run for our breakfast. Safeway, in our experiences, delivers reliable grocery shopping with a clean layout and well‑stocked aisles. The checkout lines move quickly, and the staff are courteous and helpful. Prices are competitive, especially on weekly specials, and the store offers a good selection of fresh produce, bakery items, and household essentials. Overall, it's a convenient location for our Thanksgiving morning run. read more

So on Friday , July 17 th, 2026 my Hudbsnd came into this store . Normally, we have a great experience here. We've lived there for 10 years. But on Friday, not so much. My husband is legally blind. He's a senior citizen over 65. Went up to the counter to have items rang up, and because he couldn't scan it on his phone, because they're scanner was not working at the time he was given a very difficult time at check out.. first, the cashier said oh sir, you have to scan This, he pointed out to her that I tried and I could not get it to work and she said well, I can't do anything for you, and started to give him a difficult time...... Then a manager was called over. Same thing. No courtesy. No Help at all. SAFE WAY...... are any of you knowledgeable there regarding the American disability act....???? Just Do Better!!! read more

Looks like a brand new store! There was always plenty of parking right outside the doors. Folks working where nice and welcoming. A gentleman who was cleaning the aisles told us hello multiple times. Cashier help figure out a price discrepancy. He was not a great bagger, but that was no big deal. read more

Clean well stocked store. We went to buy a few things and ending up stocking our pantry while there. Great sales

The prices are notoriously high. Sometimes, while shopping in the store and surprised by a price, I will cross reference it on my Amazon app and 90% of the time add it to my Amazon shopping list. The meat selection is fine, but the quality is average. The Wego sirloin at fries is significantly better quality And worth the trip down the hill. Last, having to purchase six bottles of liquor to match the pricing at total wine is ridiculous. OK really last - you're forced to enter discount codes to get the best pricing and the app never takes a picture correctly so you have to type it in and by the time you're finished with that and they're horrible Wi-Fi, you wish you never made the trip. read more

Today, I want to thank Faith the cashier who kindly helped me find an online coupon. I apologized about having trouble figuring the Safeway app and she graciously reassured me she could help and she did! I really appreciated! Last time I tried to use an online coupon and asked the cashier, she (I will not name her) was so loudly condescending and irritated with me, I gave up. When someone asks politely for help and there is no other or very few customers in the checkout line, it should be part of the cashier's job description to help the customer. Some of us are older and didn't grow up with cell phones attached to our hands! So, again, kudos and thanks to Faith! read more

I hate this Safeway. I live in this Community and I've been telling them for moths to stock up on my soda. Every other Safeway Carry's Mello Yello. For awhile they were listening and carrying it and I would buy all that they had. Now they have stopped again. I'm handicapped and can't drive far so going down the hill is not an option. I asked for a rain check and was denied because it's a digital coupon. I talked to coke vendor he can't help he said. read more

This is the worst Safeway ever here are the reasons down below 1. The items at Safeway are super pricey for a gallon of milk is $4.99 at Walmart it is $3.99 I took a picture of one of them at the checkout & it was a KIT KAT candy bar they want $1.49 just for a candy bar it is crazy P.S KIT KATS are my favorite kind of candy 2. They got a new thing called self checkout & you know how it is supposed to go faster & quicker well it does not I say actually slow due to the Safeway app not working for coupon deals. 3. So you know the little scanner guns you can use for the big items in your shopping cart well if you have a QR code it is supposed to work for that but it does not work that is also another problem in the Safeway app. 4. Another thing is that if you for get your iPhone at home well but you have your Safeway card you might want to go back home & get your iPhone or unless you know your iPhones phone number because the Safeway plastic cards do not work anymore due to all of the coupons are online now in the Safeway app 5. I have never used drive up & pick up but I don't think it is that good due to I never really see anyone using it So in my opinion this place is ok but if I lived closer to another grocery store I might go there instead of Safeway due to this 5 reasons. Thank you for reading this & if you are the owner of this store please fix those reasons thank you have a good day. read more

Love our little supermarket up here in Estrella! They usually have just about everything we need and often have sales that make them More affordable than an Instacart order from Walmart or Fry's. Their bakery, sushi, salad bar is elite, as I'm worth a trip spoedrjdally for that reason. Staff are outstanding, they employs many local Estrella youth and Estrella neighbors looking for a side job. Keep up the great work! read more

Service was excellent! Xavier and Abel at the deli area were very attentive. Jennifer was helpful at the register. I will come back and shop here! Thank you for the great service. read more

We visited this location on my birthday with my mom to purchase a cake. I'd have to say their cake selection was quite impressive however, they only had 1-2 cakes that you could actually write any kind of message on. My dad and I share a birthday and I'd have to say that the cakes that you could write on, were not gender neutral. The lines were quote long so my mom asked the woman behind the customer service counter if she could ring out cake up and she was happy to do so. Our interaction with her as well as the women behind the bakery counter was pleasant. Safeway does however need to recognize when they have long lines with customers with full carts that they should open another register to speed up the checkout process. Otherwise no complaints. The store is clean, just have those few suggestions, no real issues. read more

been cutting slack for the last 3 years due to supply issues, drivers, workers and then inflation to price hikes but it has gotten too far. I don't mind spending more money for quality but when the quality of your goods goes away and you still Jack up the prices it is time to shop somewhere else. The produce is low quality, tasteless and tends to go bad real quickly. Went today for meat and you'd think I was trying to get Wagu steaks for the price they were asking. when you charge $20/lb for filets then they better not look like you injected them with beet juice, never seen meat that was almost neon and glowing fRom whatever they prepped it with to make it look edible. NY Strips....sooooo much fat on them there was barely any steak. Tried to do grocery shopping and only was able to get coffee creamer. No veggies, no bread, no steaks, no fruit. Just gave up and will have to drive into town now to hit up Fry's. read more

Shout out to Alec in the Deli department! Ordered some deli meat and then we wanted a sandwich but couldn't decided which one to order. We asked Alec what he recommended... philly cheesesteak.... so opted to try and it was soooo good! You can tell the effort he puts in at work. Not like others who just seem to get through the day and honestly makes us feel like we are bothering them. May seem like an odd review but Alec deserves it. GREAT customer service!!!! He definitely made an impression on us. read more

To say this is the worst grocery store ever would be impossible considering I can't possibly visit them all. However, this is hands down the worst grocery store in my 30 years of having to grocery shop. Other than the Staff working Bakery, Pharmacy, Floral, etc. as well as a few long time employees, the customer service is pathetic. Inventory is horrendous. I have complained to corporate and they had the store manager call me. He blamed supply chain issues first, but I made it clear this has been going on longer than the pandemic, and has just gotten worse. (Examples: sugar free chocolate pudding, they told me wasn't available, well it was at every other grocery store. One time they told me a product doesn't exist only to see it in the store shelf a few months later) Then the reason was because the main warehouse doesn't give them everything they order. I can drive down to the safeway 10 miles away and they have the items. I can drive to Frys and they have even more items and no bare shelves. The staff at checkout just talk to each other and not the customer, often discussing inappropriate things, such as how they asked out a customer or some other other topic. Now when it comes to price gouging these guys are pros. While I am highly capable of understanding the current inflationary situation and just how bad it is, slim Jim's don't cost twice as much as they did a week ago. I go to Walgreens and they are half the price. Heck, even alcohol is cheaper at Walgreens, what is cheaper at any Walgreens? Even more of an issue, there is approximately 50,000 people living in Estrella Mountain Ranch and they are the only grocery store. My guess, this is just a guess and not a fact. I would guess that there is an agreement of some sort in place that Newland Communities won't allow another grocery store in Estrella for a certain period of time. Otherwise what grocery would not build a store up here and take all of these customers from Safeway? Okay, maybe that is a conspiracy theory. Bottom line is Safeway doesn't care and they a raking in the dough while having limited products on their shelves. read more

Went on Sunday May 30th. One line was open and self check out. The lines were long. The girl working self checkout, wax extremely busy. An associate asked the girl behind the counter to make a phone call. She was rude and said "you can't do it yourself." I was at the the very last self checkout on the right. I turned to her and stared at her in disbelief. What a rude girl. This Safeway needs a better manager and more staff, not just kids running the show. You have a great manager in Glendale, maybe she needs a transfer. read more

Usually love this Safeway - has everything you need, clean, etc. but the last two times I've gone, I have gotten home & something that I bought was expired.... First time was cheese sticks.... Expired in SEPTEMBER. & just today we bought sausage for breakfast & it was 4 days past the expiration date. & smelled horrible. Not sure how to fix this problem but it sucks!! Shouldn't have to check & worry about expiration dates on everything. read more

I was thrilled knowing that I had a grocery store just 2 miles from home. It's been quite a disappointment. I don't feel it's fair that I need to drive an additional 8 miles to look for Hispanic grocery items. Cuisine should not be based on what Ethnicities a community is made of (at least this is how I feel). Who doesn't love Mexican food? Home remedies? They're international. Cinnamon sticks are international! Really? Who buys them in a little bottle at triple the price? No fresh garlic? Conveniently to them, there was only organic peeled packages. On another occasion, there was no cilantro. :/ Please update your app to reflect what you truly keep in stock. I'm glad I decided to drop in versus having my groceries delivered. It would've been a waste of time and money because you didn't have a couple of items in stock. Please help us feel welcomed to the community. This sound silly to some, but it's pretty frustrating to me. Please stock these spice and chili packages read more

The produce is always fresh! They take great pride in there store because it is always clean. The bathrooms are nice. When people come out of town to visit and they go grocery shopping they are always happy. I am not embarrassed at all. They have a loyal customer in me. On Mother's Day, I had to scramble to find my mom something. Because a certain company failed (Editable Arrangements) I was in Safeway buying produce it took me two minutes and I was done. I did not have to wait either. They hired enough employees to really tackle the lines. read more

The worst customer service now. The store has been declining for years now.It hit a all time low today 3/19/23. Went to buy dinner and went to self check out line.Credit card only I guess. I asked to use cash not seeing the sign but no big deal it was only a question and the kid walks up and said no and cancels my transaction right in front of me.I said are you kidding me I could of used my debit card he tells me to move out of line and come over here.I said excuse me where is your manager at I'm not moving or waiting in another line. Another kid comes over maybe 20 years old named Faith a front end manager with a smirk on her face. I said I would to complain about this guy as he was standing right there.I asked him to step away and he tells me NO and the manager Faith said and did nothing.I could of swore that Faith said white trash under her breath but when I said what did you say she looked away and smirked! At this time at 52 years old I am livid now.I ask for a real manager and here comes Samir the guy reeks like cigarettes.Does not get where I'm coming from and He tells me that he has had not one complaint on Faith. Not listening to me or even saying sorry for the bad experience. It's not really the point, but the guys only been there less than a year and I've been a customer there for 13 years since the store opened. Not my first rodeo with the kids at the store being rude to customers. I told Faith without customers there would be no business. She tells me without workers there would be nothing on the shelf with a smart attitude. This store has lost my business for good now. These kind of people should not be representing the only grocery store up here and Estrella Mountain Ranch. Specially, when management will do nothing about the situation, read the reviews. It's very common problem. High prices, bare shelves, bad customer service.Wait in lines that are longer than three people. It's ridiculous poor management always been that way but has gotten much worse over the last 2 years. Also, now they're towing cars from the parking lot telling the property management that they were abandoned and they're really not. The store director doesn't address issues either. No call back from this guy Larry aka store director for weeks now. read more

Enough of Safeway's deceptive advertising. Just left the store for the last time. Shelf advertised 12 pack of soda 4 for 10.88. (Or 6.98 each) so of course I picked up four. At the counter I was informed I needed to spend $25 for groceries.... oh no, I only had $20 in my cart. As the line was long I just gave up and left the soda. I will check out Fry's, Walmart, or Target next trip to the store. read more

We give our highest recommendations for SAFEWAY Foods for their Professionalism and Great customer care services provided by the staff and management, Mr. Paul Behan. I have plenty of reasons not to like this grocery store, overpriced products, tricky sales when it comes to pay you aren't getting the discount, pay attention!! Meat refrigerator (where the pork, and food containers are located) disgusting, flies around it, it looks like hasn't been cleaned ever, rude manager, meat department staff rude (the only one who doesn't run inside when he sees a customer is the hispanic one, he is the only one that is willing to help), at the register Juan and another brunette girl are the ones pleasants, (I'm sorry guys for the 1 star. I really despise when I have to stop there. read more

This is a pretty large Safeway and I'd say that you will get what you would expect from this grocery store. It's well stocked and well maintained. My assumption is that it's a newer store. It's quite spacious and seemed to be well laid out with all of your standard departments: bakery, deli, meats, etc. We didn't really encounter any employees on our visit other than the checkout clerk and no complaints there. It was a speedy process with no lines when we were there, which is good. All thumbs up. read more

Store is clean and staff is usually helpful and friendly, that is up until 6 or 7 months ago. It seems the new manager, Jeff, has everyone walking on eggshells (pretty sad when this is obvious to customers). Looks like he's bad for morale in this store. Believe it or not, I'd rather make the drive and shop at Food City. Jeff could learn a thing or to from Sam Garcia at that store. read more

Absolutely hate a checking out my groceries especially with a 4 month old and 2 kiddos who I need to keep an eye on and need to make sure they're not in anyone's way. Hate when there's a long line which there always is because they usually only have 1 checkout open if any! Shoot I don't get paid to bag my groceries and check myself out quite frankly I don't understand why this even exists honestly most of the time the kids working there are fooling around making jokes not doing ANYTHING how about you guys train them to be cashiers I bet it would solve some issues. Stop closing the ONE cashier line early please! The least you can do after all the price gouging you guys already do! And people check your receipts I can't tell you how many times I come home to find I overpaid for something that I clipped a coupon for! read more

If you have the Safeway card the prices seem reasonable. Its hit or miss when it comes to the staff. Some are an absolute pleasure and some are a nightmare. The deli section seems to do whatever they want. You'd think that they'd have breakfast burritos out when people are going to work or school. I go to work at 530 and I was told it's too early for them and the earliest they'll put them out is 7. I know I'm not the only one that works early. It's the little things like this that put this place on the same level as Walmart, but Walmart has better prices. read more

This Safeway is nothing special, but boy is it convenient to Estrella Mountain Ranch residents who need to grab a few items on the way home from work. I personally prefer to do my regular grocery shopping elsewhere, but Safeway will do in a pinch for quick or last minute items. The prices aren't great because they are the only full grocery store in Estrella, so they have the market here. As other reviewers have mentioned, beware of expired items. This seems to be a common trend here. read more

The management change to Larry is one of the worst decisions anyone could have made. Since he assumed the SM position, many good, customer-oriented managers and caring associates have either wrongfully been accused of contrived and unproven practices they were reprimanded over and ended up quitting - or "investigated" and released for, or outrightly fired. Not sure what the agenda is, but the overall countenance of those there is fairly down-trodden. In a world where good help is hard to find, look no further than the bad apple(s) that lead to spoil. read more
