The prices are notoriously high. Sometimes, while shopping in the store and surprised by a price, I will cross reference it on my Amazon app and 90% of the time add it to my Amazon shopping list. The meat selection is fine, but the quality is average. The Wego sirloin at fries is significantly better quality And worth the trip down the hill. Last, having to purchase six bottles of liquor to match the pricing at total wine is ridiculous. OK really last - you're forced to enter discount codes to get the best pricing and the app never takes a picture correctly so you have to type it in and by the time you're finished with that and they're horrible Wi-Fi, you wish you never made the trip. read more

Today, I want to thank Faith the cashier who kindly helped me find an online coupon. I apologized about having trouble figuring the Safeway app and she graciously reassured me she could help and she did! I really appreciated! Last time I tried to use an online coupon and asked the cashier, she (I will not name her) was so loudly condescending and irritated with me, I gave up. When someone asks politely for help and there is no other or very few customers in the checkout line, it should be part of the cashier's job description to help the customer. The items at Safeway are super pricey for a gallon of milk is $4.99 at Walmart it is $3.99 I took a picture of one of them at the checkout & it was a KIT KAT candy bar they want $1.49 just for a candy bar it is crazy P.S KIT KATS are my favorite kind of candy 2. Another thing is that if you for get your iPhone at home well but you have your Safeway card you might want to go back home & get your iPhone or unless you know your iPhones phone number because the Safeway plastic cards do not work anymore due to all of the coupons are online now in the Safeway app 5. I have never used drive up & pick up but I don't think it is that good due to I never really see anyone using it So in my opinion this place is ok but if I lived closer to another grocery store I might go there instead of Safeway due to this 5 reasons. Love our little supermarket up here in Estrella! They usually have just about everything we need and often have sales that make them More affordable than an Instacart order from Walmart or Fry's. Their bakery, sushi, salad bar is elite, as I'm worth a trip spoedrjdally for that reason. Staff are outstanding, they employs many local Estrella youth and Estrella neighbors looking for a side job. We visited this location on my birthday with my mom to purchase a cake. I'd have to say their cake selection was quite impressive however, they only had 1-2 cakes that you could actually write any kind of message on. My dad and I share a birthday and I'd have to say that the cakes that you could write on, were not gender neutral. The lines were quote long so my mom asked the woman behind the customer service counter if she could ring out cake up and she was happy to do so. Our interaction with her as well as the women behind the bakery counter was pleasant. Safeway does however need to recognize when they have long lines with customers with full carts that they should open another register to speed up the checkout process. Otherwise no complaints. been cutting slack for the last 3 years due to supply issues, drivers, workers and then inflation to price hikes but it has gotten too far. I don't mind spending more money for quality but when the quality of your goods goes away and you still Jack up the prices it is time to shop somewhere else. The produce is low quality, tasteless and tends to go bad real quickly. Went today for meat and you'd think I was trying to get Wagu steaks for the price they were asking. when you charge $20/lb for filets then they better not look like you injected them with beet juice, never seen meat that was almost neon and glowing fRom whatever they prepped it with to make it look edible. NY Strips....sooooo much fat on them there was barely any steak. Tried to do grocery shopping and only was able to get coffee creamer. No veggies, no bread, no steaks, no fruit. Just gave up and will have to drive into town now to hit up Fry's. read more

To say this is the worst grocery store ever would be impossible considering I can't possibly visit them all. However, this is hands down the worst grocery store in my 30 years of having to grocery shop. Other than the Staff working Bakery, Pharmacy, Floral, etc. as well as a few long time employees, the customer service is pathetic. Inventory is horrendous. I have complained to corporate and they had the store manager call me. He blamed supply chain issues first, but I made it clear this has been going on longer than the pandemic, and has just gotten worse. (Examples: sugar free chocolate pudding, they told me wasn't available, well it was at every other grocery store. One time they told me a product doesn't exist only to see it in the store shelf a few months later) Then the reason was because the main warehouse doesn't give them everything they order. I can drive down to the safeway 10 miles away and they have the items. I can drive to Frys and they have even more items and no bare shelves. The staff at checkout just talk to each other and not the customer, often discussing inappropriate things, such as how they asked out a customer or some other other topic. Now when it comes to price gouging these guys are pros. While I am highly capable of understanding the current inflationary situation and just how bad it is, slim Jim's don't cost twice as much as they did a week ago. I go to Walgreens and they are half the price. Heck, even alcohol is cheaper at Walgreens, what is cheaper at any Walgreens? Even more of an issue, there is approximately 50,000 people living in Estrella Mountain Ranch and they are the only grocery store. My guess, this is just a guess and not a fact. I would guess that there is an agreement of some sort in place that Newland Communities won't allow another grocery store in Estrella for a certain period of time. Otherwise what grocery would not build a store up here and take all of these customers from Safeway? Okay, maybe that is a conspiracy theory. Bottom line is Safeway doesn't care and they a raking in the dough while having limited products on their shelves. read more

An associate asked the girl behind the counter to make a phone call. She was rude and said "you can't do it yourself." I was at the the very last self checkout on the right. I don't feel it's fair that I need to drive an additional 8 miles to look for Hispanic grocery items. The produce is always fresh! They take great pride in there store because it is always clean. The bathrooms are nice. When people come out of town to visit and they go grocery shopping they are always happy. I am not embarrassed at all. They have a loyal customer in me. On Mother's Day, I had to scramble to find my mom something. Because a certain company failed (Editable Arrangements) I was in Safeway buying produce it took me two minutes and I was done. This is a pretty large Safeway and I'd say that you will get what you would expect from this grocery store. It's well stocked and well maintained. My assumption is that it's a newer store. It's quite spacious and seemed to be well laid out with all of your standard departments: bakery, deli, meats, etc. We didn't really encounter any employees on our visit other than the checkout clerk and no complaints there. If you have the Safeway card the prices seem reasonable. Its hit or miss when it comes to the staff. Some are an absolute pleasure and some are a nightmare. The deli section seems to do whatever they want. You'd think that they'd have breakfast burritos out when people are going to work or school. I go to work at 530 and I was told it's too early for them and the earliest they'll put them out is 7. I know I'm not the only one that works early. It's the little things like this that put this place on the same level as Walmart, but Walmart has better prices. read more

This Safeway is nothing special, but boy is it convenient to Estrella Mountain Ranch residents who need to grab a few items on the way home from work. I personally prefer to do my regular grocery shopping elsewhere, but Safeway will do in a pinch for quick or last minute items. The prices aren't great because they are the only full grocery store in Estrella, so they have the market here. As other reviewers have mentioned, beware of expired items. CHECK EVERY EXPIRATION DATE! There was yogurt on the shelf expired last week so I grabbed a different one and it was expired since March! 4+ MONTHS AGO! Sad because it was the baby yogurt. I feel like every time I go I'm turning in expired food to employees. The milk had 50% off sticker and it expired 4 days ago. They have about 10 registers maybe, but only 1-2 cashiers so the line wraps all the way around and down the aisles at times. I just can't anymore... ugh! read more
