I placed an online order for delivery that was to arrive on 5/10/26 between 10 and noon. It never arrived. I called the number for service and got an AI agent that said it couldn't help and opened a customer service ticked asking for a refund. Next day, crickets. I ended up using their chat feature and explained the situation to the agent who contacted the store to cancel my order and issue a refund. Instead of doing what they were told the store messaged me that my order would be delivered today at 5:30....while I'm at work, on a 110 degree day. So they just left everything outside in the sun and heat. The fried chicken they bagged for me yesterday was rock hard, the bacon and ham were warm and the milk had leaked all over everything. I have shopped at Safeway for over 20 years, and all I can say is I hope they go out of business. read more

I, like many people, only carry my phone and no wallet anymore. I use the app Arizona mobile ID for my license for alcohol check and the older man in the self check out area that has disability said he couldn't use it? On top of just a bad attitude he was extremely rude. Alcohol may be cheaper here but get it somewhere else read more

I didn't get one of the bags that I paid for and went back for it and got no satisfaction . They are remodeling and the genius that coordinated it is a complete idiot. They moved everything to a different aisle and didn't change the signs above the aisles. It took me 15 minutes to find Tylenol. I had a full cart of groceries and there wasn't a cashier open. Bad enough that we over pay, but then we have to check ourselves out!!! Terrible service and a I don't care attitude. This store is in walking distance. I would give zero stars if possible. Went there at 9am for groceries. They have been remodeling but today was ridiculous. Everything is moved around and not even staff knows where things are at. Some kind of inventory company also there and you cannot navigate most isles and the workers do not even move out of your way. No checker open, you have to do self checkout and bag your own groceries. I didn't get half the items I went after. I am finding a new grocery store you have lost business!! read more

Their deli is worth the price of admission. The wing bar is great. They have the best meatloaf. I appreciate their curbside delivery: the staff is prompt and engaging. The curbside service hours leave all other grocers in the dust. We used to live in the area when the store was at the old location on Pinnacle Peak. It was a great store back then, but I was glad we moved away before this new store opened atnd left our old neighborhood without a close go-to grocery. read more

I shopped here 2-4 times a week spending $25-$80+ each visit. Yesterday, I thanked the female who had bagged my groceries. She gave me a dirty look and said "Yup".. If she hates her job and passes that on to your customers then a change needs to be made. I decided returned all of the groceries and went to Frys. This was a painful store to shop before they put in the self checkout lanes. You could always count on it to be slow through the line- even though the employees are super nice and accommodating. There just seems to be a lot of customers in the store who have an issue when they get to checkout. Now that those worries are over I find myself in the store more due to the Rona. The deli is close to the door so I feel like I'm not spending a lot of time and mingling around a bunch of people when I pop in for a demi sesame loaf and some of the house smoked ham at the deli counter. This is a recent discovery for me - this store smokes delicious ham over applewood and slices it as thin as you like. Some of their sesame bread plus the ham with Düsseldorf mustard and I call that lunch, pal. There is a Starbucks inside and their produce section is always nice and neat. It's not the biggest Safeway around but improvements have been made over the nearly ten years I've been an occasional shopper at this store and it's lookin up at the ole Waysafe! read more

I've lived next to this Safeway for over 20 years. In the past 5 years, at least, they have become loss prevention obsessed. Some examples of many: I went in 8 months pregnant, got a cart full of items, and stopped by tea section because I was having new pregnancy discomfort that I thought tea might help, but I don't normally drink tea so I apparently looked too long and magically a well dressed employee came, said nothing to me at all, and moved in front of me to start urgently rearranging the untouched tea section. Their fear that I would shoplift tea was more important than helping a pregnant, regular customer who obviously had a cart of items to buy. Another time I walked my baby to the store from my home, went in with baby in stroller, and was urgently followed by 2 loss prevention employees carrying tablets that had video. They were darting around corners to cut me off and it was awkward and obvious. Apparently shopping with a stroller is extra scary for them. But again, why am I treated like a criminal when I've done nothing and some of the cashier's know my face and family from being a regular and I give you my number with name and address every time I'm in. How scary. Even worse examples: My Hispanic husband was once asked if he stole empty Danziesen milk jugs when trying to turn them back in for a bottle refund. It's milk bottles, who did he steal them from? And then the newest item today is what is prompting me to finally write a review...once again when he tried to return Danziesen bottles he was told he can't return without a receipt. The employee then claimed this was Danziesen's new policy. Well, I emailed Danziesen, cause it's not hard to and they are a lovely local company, and they confirmed this is not their policy and they hope to make the bottle process easy for consumers. So Safeway is throwing a local company under the bus to try to pass blame for their own policy. Consumers would be less likely to buy Danziesen products at any store because of what Safeway is claiming. They must have big loss issues at that store, but treating regular, neighborhood customers and local vendors poorly to compensate is horrible practice. We avoid this store whenever possible even tho it's literally walking distance. read more

Meh. This Safeway is a blend of some really nice stuff, and a few annoyances. The good is that they have a great selection of high-quality pre-made foods, and they stay on top of keeping them all fresh. Bread quality and meat quality are both top notch. Unfortunately it always feels like it takes forever to check out. Not sure why they are extraordinarily slow with occasional long lines. Also the layout has something weird about it, and pretty much every trip I end up having to hunt for some item that isn't where I expected. Hard to put my finger on it, just something confusing about the layout. Alcohol prices are just stupid. Grocery stores are always a little expensive on alcohol, but this store takes it up to a new level. Part of this is their stupid game to overprice many things then put them "on sale" with a loyalty card. So yeah, good for a short, limited shopping trip for the things where they excel, but it would never be my preferred normal shopping location. read more

My wife and I have been going here for years. It's been a great place overall with very nice employees. For example, just yesterday morning (3/30/19) my wife and 9 month were at the store getting some groceries. She was waking with her hands full with groceries and our infant. All of a sudden a case dropped and broke on the ground in the parking lot. Glass bottles broke and caused a mess. My wife was stuck not sure what to do because there was glass broken and our baby was in the car, unable to leave my wife started picking up the broken glass carefully while out of nowhere a lady and employee (named Misty) of Safeway runs out and tells my wife to stop and don't worry about the broken glass. Misty goes back inside to grab another case of bottles at no charge and replaces the broken case my wife had bought. My wife was stuck in a real mess and pickle with our newborn and broken glass and everything. We couldn't say thank you enough to Misty as she's a true amazing employee and just an exceptional example of how amazing the staff is. I personally wanted to say thank you to Misty because my family was in a predicament while I was away and what was originally a stressful situation, turned out to be a wonderful experience all thanks to Misty! This Safeway is so so so slow!! They only ever have 1-2 checkers no matter when I go in. On top of that their credit card machine has frozen up for extended periods of time and they still won't open a new check stand. They do have 50% off specials on things that are going bad and that is the only reason why I shop there. But several times the cashiers have forgotten to take this discount off, when I bring this too their attention they make you get back in the ridiculously long line instead of handling it right then and there. So then my 20 minute quick run into the store is now 45 minutes. It's annoying. read more

Sorry; but I have to agree with 'Jeremy J' and say, 'Go to Frys @ 59th & 101, it is only 1 mile'. I have lived closer to Safeway @ 67th & 101 for almost 20 years. I have seen changes as expected; but ironically the young staff are much nicer and courteous than all of the staff older than20 years old ! True! Except for 'Marcia of customer service desk'! She is always nice. The other older staff are just rude! I cannot say anything more except they ALL seem like zombies and NOT happy to be there. Just awful customer service from them all the time the past 20 years. Like I say, the younger school kid type employees are the only ones nice. Shame on you older staff! You are awful and I believe in 'Karma' & it will visit all you meanies one day read more

Customer service here has been steadily going downhill and prices keep going up. Tonight, I took my daughter for sweets but left my phone at home. I approached the manager and asked if he could help with a digital coupon since I did not have my phone but did have my Safeway club card. He rudely said, "we have been informed not to help with digital coupons anymore." I repeated that I left my phone at home and asked if there was anything he could to help. His response was, "no, but your phone will be there when you get home." I'm done with this Safeway after this interaction and will shop at Fry's moving forward. read more

So I do go here quite often for groceries and have mostly positive experiences. I think the top issues I have had here was the roasted chickens not being ready to buy, odd alcohol sale rules, and LOOONG checkout lines. So let me start with the first one. The roasted chickens are one of the main reasons we go here because they are delicious!! Seriously, they are worth it for a quick meal! But there have been a couple mornings (within their chicken selling time range) when we go and none are out and we're told it will be 10 minutes. Well 10 minutes goes by and still nothing and then we realize it's 10 minutes until they were to take them out of the oven... THEN they have to mark and package them all which takes some time. Not a huge deal for me but if you're in a hurry this might inconvenience you. The second thing is the alcohol rules. I have no issue with the state laws etc but it seems to be rather inconsistent here. Sometimes my boyfriend gets carded only, sometimes both of us, sometimes neither of us. I had no idea the law in AZ was EVERYONE in the party had to show id's (cashier told us) even if NOT paying so sometimes I didn't take my state ID (I don't drive) and one time was turned away from a sale and had to leave it ALL. Now I know to always take it here but it would have been nice if we were required to ALL show ID's from the very first sale at this store so I'd know. The last thing is the lines which we run into very often. It seems only 2 lanes are usually open at after-dinner time because it's off peak but usually that makes it super crowded. They do the "3's a crowd" to call assistance but it takes quite a while for that person to open up a register and the people at the end of the lines get to go to it, not the people who have been waiting the longest. It's a clean store and they have what I need so I will continue to go here. And their roasted chickens are still delicious! read more

Good selection and decent prices (when on sale). They run a system where their "normal" prices are stupidly marked up. That way you feel you're getting a deal when they are "on sale". That said the sales prices are pretty good compared to market average. The meat from the counter is great, tends to last in the fridge if I don't get to it right away. The bakery just brought back Artisan French Baguettes which are my favorite so that is great. Wines tend to be massively over priced. $10 bottles marked (on sale) for $19.99. The normal rotisserie chicken is good and makes two cheap meals for one. I'd stay away from the rosemary & garlic rotisserie though. They over do the rosemary and scorch the spices. read more

Safeway Supermarket on 67th & the 101 is now selling a very large selection of ORGAINC FOODS!!! I have been waiting and hoping that the local supermarkets would start selling more organic foods and now Safeway is. They have all kinds fresh organic produce & frozen. They also sell organic dairy products, dried fruit & nuts and more. Everything has been fresh so far. Be sure to look closely for everything. They have it all mixed in with the traditional foods - so it can be hard to locate. Some of it is in separate stands but not all of it. I really like that I can get organic cleaning products here. Their prices are Safeway prices and I can find cheaper products elsewhere, but certainly not closer. I hold back on 1 star because of their absurd policy of having the baggers inspect the carts (like we are criminals) during check out. Come on already! This place can be quite odd. They need to replace their management for sure. read more

I've been to this store several times over the past few years and I don't know why I keep going back. Every time it's a horrible experience. I am planning to learn my lesson this time. The meat there is a huge problem (lots of brown/gray, rancid-looking stuff sold at full price) but the worst thing is the cashier service. Despite the time of day, they only ever seem to have 1 register open. Which means that, to buy a single item in the AM, it's a 20 minute wait at least. Today at 8 AM the line for the single register was 10 people long. It took so long that the lady in front of me, who only wanted some orange juice, finally dropped out of line and left. I was still standing there 15 minutes later. Here's the WORST part: The manager walked by the line 2 different times, looked right at it, and kept walking. He didn't open a register himself to speed those commuters on their way. He didn't ask the woman at customer service to come up and open one. He just saw the grumpy people in line and ignored it. This is why Safeway - especially this one - is failing. Manager Ben, you just lost Safeway 2 customers today - at least. read more

Absolutely horrible!!! I called their bakery on Monday with many days in advance, and asked whether they made a 1/4 sheet Tres Leches cake for my son's birthday party on Saturday. Jody said yes, and took my order over the phone. Today is Friday, I'm glad I made sure to just call the bakery again, and confirm the cake order to pickup for tomorrow at noon, and I was told they do NOT make Tres Leches!!!! I was extremely upset as I have a planned surprise bday party for my 11 year-old son in less than 24 hours! Lady did not even apologize! I wonder if I just showed up tomorrow to supposedly pick up the cake, what would they tell me? No cake? This is absurd!!! Horrible service, just plain horrible!!! I will NEVER be back at this location again! Stay away. read more

Occasionally I shop here although not often. The produce is pretty good but equally priced. The standard groceries are typically prices higher than other stores. It never seems to crowded here so that's a plus. After holiday/seasonal they offer great items at a steep discount. Staff here are friendly and helpful. read more

I find this Safeway to be very clean, has great products, and has good service. My wife and I shop mostly at sprouts but find a lot of products that are not organic compare or are the same for a better price. Their selection of organic products is great but the prices for organic are higher than sprouts. The wells fargo in this location is awesome as well. Convenient ATM and Starbucks inside. I definitely recommend this grocer. I visit it at least once a day. read more

I work in the complex and have at times eaten at Subway until I learned they knew about Jarod being a pedophile the whole time (my opinion, they should be run out of business). So! I really wanted a sandwich and decided to pop in to Safeway and give their deli a try. I got their Italian sandwich and....omg.....YUM! Eating there again today. I've never had a sandwich so good! Loyalty program is crap. Takes over two months for you to be in the system, and they won't let you use an employee card or whatever to get the discount in the meantime.
